This is the best paper magic content I've seen. With the eye ball markers for revealed cards, box for Snapcaster targets, and images after Memory Deluge, it is really easy to follow along. I really appreciate the editing on these videos. The commentary is great as always, especially with top players.
Blue white control is absolutely brutal in this matchup, although it was very inspiring seeing the plans the titan player came up with, very close to getting that emrakul out and turning the tables Also love the brief moments where the players would explain their thoughts and strategy behind or in response to certain plays, almost as if players in a GP stopped to explain their gameplan 10/10
Great video, I really loved the editing, showing the cards from the memory deluge and all the snapcaster targets is a good choice and really improves the watching experience. Also I loved the matchup and the pro players with their commentary, overall a great video, looking forward to next ones
Wow, crazy to see Jamin in a video that popped up randomly! I met him at hareruya in Tokyo for the first time and he was one of the nicest guys who absolutely loved playing the game. If you see this, I still have your snapcaster mage you left in my UW deck!
What a great game!! So many complex decisions to have been made, and as always control just doing control things. What a great video! Speaking of control though, I'd love to see some sort of Esper Stoneblade style deck on the channel soon. I'm very interested in how it would do in the current meta.
Dang what a good match, its super funny how into the second game it gets super quiet and you can see how hard they are focusing xD Also as a control enjoy, its so nice to see these long more drawn out games since especially as a newer player I have a hard time just holding everything back, especially with those cavern schenanigans I know I woulda let myself be overwhelmed with the thought that I need to do as much damage asap to try to kill them before I get overrun.
Hey guys, loved the video! This series really helped me get more into the Modern format. Could you use a Hollow One deck on one of your next videos? I saw that the deck has made a comeback with some new cards and I would love to see it in action :)
Around 25 minutes, doesn't he retain priority once Asuza resolves? So he could play the extra lands before any response can be made, since playing lands doesn't use the stack?

Wait a sec. 25:20 Arne says he's gonna prismatic ending end of turn, referring to the strands he's about to draw but didnt draw yet. How is that possible?
The card says that if u cannot pay 2gg mana next upkeep then you will lose the game. Kanister had 3g mana instead so he couldn’t pay the cost and lost the game.
How can valakut target a planeswalker. Doesnt it say creature or player. Or is there a rule which says that all old cards can now target planeswalkers if they can target players. Im a bit confused
If you are unsure about a card's updated text, you can always look up its latest oracle text on scryfall :) here, you can see that Valakut now hits any target: scryfall.com/card/zen/228/valakut-the-molten-pinnacle
This was such a great match up to watch! Control is really fun to watch, but not play against, haha. The next deck I REALLY want one of you to play is Modern Cat Tribal! It's so good! Main board artifact and enchantment destruction with Feline Sovereign. Their is even a cat stax piece with Leonin Arbiter. I also love playing Qasali Ambusher for when getting attacked, plus it gives you block against flying. The deck is as follows 3x Loam Lion 4x Sacred Cat 3x Aether Vial 2x Path to Exile 3x Adorned Pouncer 2x Leonin Arbiter 4x Fleecemane Lion 4x Qasali Amubusher 4x King of the Pride 4x Feline Sovereign 2x Kaheera, The Orphanguard 4x Collected Company Lands are pretty normal, 4 fetches and shocks, some Boseigu, Who Endures, Cavern of Souls, and some basics. I also have a couple of Gavony Township's for late game stuff. Sideboard is pretty meta, but of course I will companion another Kaheera, Lion Sash is always good (it's another cat), and something to protect the cats, like Snakeskin Veil. I also put in some Deafening Silences and even Mana Tithes. Honestly, if you play it, I would be super happy. Also, if anyone has anymore ideas, I would gladly hear them
Well, there are two things: first off, remember that Emrakul isn’t “immune” to instants, she has protection from them, which means she can’t be dealt damage or targeted by an instant. Summary Dismissal doesn’t target, so that’s one reason the protection shouldn’t matter. That said, the protection also doesn’t matter for another reason, which is that protection is an ability which applies to a permanent, not the card itself. So when Emrakul is on the battlefield, she is a permanent and has that protection, but on the stack she’s a creature spell. So you can also Counterspell an Emrakul: this just won’t get rid of the controlling triggered ability, which happens on cast rather than on Emrakul entering the battlefield. (sorry for a long reply to an old comment, lots of people were confused there so just trying to provide information)
Tameshi Bloom would be cool to see and a rematch of for example the match with mono green against mono blue and some other matches where one deck didnt realy get to do there thing
Pros playing murktide vs a version of elementals would be worth watching, since they're the bogeyman decks of the format. Amulet vs control had a lot of interesting decision points.
I absolutely do not understand the difference between the way Arne says his last name and the way it's spelled, did he introduce himself with his nickname? It seemed too few syllables for how many I think there should be.
I'm actually kind of confused. I was under the impression if you submitted a 61 card main deck. In all post board games it has to also be 61? He mentions his side board is only 14 cards to make up for it, But he just missing out on the 15th card right?
You can change the amount of cards in your maindeck after sideboarding. You could even just add 15 to your 60 and present a 75 card deck post board (people sometimes try this against mill, I don't recommend it 😅). So in this case, he gets an extra card to remove post board every time
@Cardmarket - Magic No, what you exampled is not the same as what I exampled. Adding all 15 of your sideboard cards doesn't DECREASE your starting deck value. You just presented a game 2 75 card deck. I mean you CANNOT lower your starting decks opening value. 60
@Lucas Schultz this is unacceptable behaviour in our comments section. Please never call anyone out for cheating unless they actually have, especially when you don't know what you are talking about. Calling someone a cheat is a serious allegation. Please just ask a judge next time you are at your LGS. They will confirm that you cannot have more than 15 sideboard cards and less than 60 maindeck cards, but that there are no rules about reducing the starting number in your main deck if you go from 61 to 60 cards as long as you start with a 14 card sideboard. This is a commonly known tech amongst competitive players
@Cardmarket - Magic that is tech I have never seen nor once heard. Provide me pro tour footage where this happens. Going from 61 to 60 is something I haven't seen in my 11 years of magic
@@lucasschultz7302Come on, just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. You could just have checked the rules about sideboards (section 100.4 of the comprehensive rules in case you were about to ask once again for proof despite you being the one making allegations) and seen that they just have a 15-card upper limit and may be used by players to "modify their deck between games of a match", no additional restrictions concerning that process except the mainboard having no less than 60 cards and the sideboard no more than 15. If we were in early 2013 you would have been right but the 15 cards or nothing and swapping cards one for one rules were removed with Magic 2014.

Great match with two extremely nice guys!
This was amazing. Surely one of the best games I've ever watched here. If not the best one.
Thank you!
Love seeing Arne again. I really like his charisma.
I'm starting in modern and this is the best UA-cam channel for really learning. Thanks for the good job, it's pretty pedagogical.
Thank you for the kind words! We do put a lot of effort in and think back at when we first got into magic when designing the content 🙂
Wow, thanks!
Pedagogical is an adjective... If you're going to use uncommon words please use them correctly...
Love to see the pros in the gameplay series - Carl and Jamin are great too though 😁

Wow, playing against Azorious ctrl looks like hell. You just don't get to play while being slowly choked out and damaged by Snapcasters...
Playing against Amulet Titan is hell in a different way.
A deck can't really be tier 1 without it being hell to play against in some capacity...
@@AaronRotenberg At least Amu Titan is trying to do something, whereas Azorius only tries to undo. Nothing more disgusting than Azorius Control.
42:20 why the amulet player doesnt control UW Next turn after he casted Emrakul? Am i missing something?
