- Here is my honest review of The Mandarin Duck Phantom Take Down Survival bow. Strong and durable design, this bow is perfect for a drop grid, SHTF scenario. It's good to have archery skills in this day and age.
I just bought on of these. My ex-wife who I haven't even laid eyes on in over 15 years outside the court house has ensured I'll probably never get my PAL back now, so I'm hoping this will be step one in getting back out into the field. Should be here in a couple weeks. This bow still gets great reviews all these years later. I'll let you know how it goes
I shoot an Olympic recurve fully tricked out , a lever limb compound again with all the bells and whistles and, my personal favourite, a black hunter take down longbow shot trad with no sight , rest or stabilisers. Keep on with your shooting fella as you say it's a terrific sport and a great survival tool if the worst ever happens. ( I'm in the UK so we dont do guns over here)
Hm, got my Mandarin Duck Phantom 56" 40# today. Its a nice bow for around 85 Euro (100 Us-Dollars). The only thing that i dont like was the rough finish on the limps. It is Bamboo Wood laminated with Fiberglass. It felt really unfinished / unpolished. I used 1000er sandpaper to get the wood smooth and finished it with a teak wood color impregnation substance to get it more resistant to water. I also bought this Bow , 10 Aluminium Arrows with 500 spine and hunting broad heads, 10 Fiberglass on a carbon grid arrows with 600 spine, a better arrow rest that folds down when the vines are passing it and some equipment to make it more quiet, exactly for the reasion you mentioned... when everything is breaking down, i want a backup. And in Europe (i am from Germany) the most people preparing for a meltdown... in the next 10 years, when the global temperature is rising, our scientists predict around 230 MILLION Immigrants have to flee their countrys near the equator because it will get more and more uninhabitable... and Europe can't stand 230 Million new People :/ We will get problems... and i am pretty sure that mankind can't stop global warming... not fast enough...
Would you say the phantom is durable ?

Hello and thank you for your review. I purchased this exact bow and have had it for just over a week now. The arrows still haven’t arrived yet so haven’t been able to test it. One thing though that is bothering me is that I’m right handed and ordered a right hand bow but I don’t feel comfortable holding the riser with my left hand and arrow with right. In other words when it comes to archery I am actually left handed ☹️ can I still use it this way? This is the best review I’ve seen of the phantom 56
How tight or loose should the limbs be screwed onto the riser? Just got my phantom bow havent set up yet
Have tried using a whisker holder? Do you think you will improve your accuracy? How is the bow thinking of getting one

Yes you can go hunting wth the 45# draw weight but I recommend 125grain broadheads fixed blade and feathered fletching. FLEETWOOD 500 is good to use.
