What country are you in..Currently in the US, there are 8 nurses for every nursing position. In my state(California) only 12% of BSN grads find work within a year of graduation. Not when they graduate..within a year! Well over half the licenses are inactive.
You do people a GREAT disservice by perpetuating the shortage myth. My class(2006) was pretty much the last that everyone found work. I went straight into the unit I wanted(ER), got relocation money and a signing bonus..there was a shortage...THEN.
I work as a flight nurse now and fly into many different facilities, and rarely see newly hired faces, and if I do, they are usually from the Pacific Rim..

Yeah I plan to relocate from CA to the Midwest or South. The job requirements and qualifications are completely different compared to what they want in California. Better opportunities elsewhere, even if they're not exactly in a fancy city.
