- London has seen a boom in skyscraper building since planning laws, that stated nothing can be built higher than St Pauls Cathedral were tweaked. The London skyline now has some of the most iconic buildings anywhere in the world, from The Shard to skyscraper clusters in the City of London and Canary Wharf.
With more set to be build over the coming years, the London skyline will continue to evolve, with this drone footage all taken in 2024. Giving a unique aerial perspective of London at a set point in time.

I lived in Tokyo for about 10 years and returned home only to find London's skyline has probably now surpassed it. Both have that old meets new thing - great when you get a temple/shrine or church/castle in the foreground with a skyscraper in the background. Still... Tokyo is a much easier place to live on a low-middle income!

For a long time it was the tallest building in the UK. You wouldn't know that now looking at the rest of them around it

Like that St Pauls is still at the heart of the city after all this time even with the big skyscrapers it's always there
London has beautiful historic buildings and brutal, ugly, historic buildings AND a few skyscrapers that are well designed and unique while also having mundane, run-of-the-mill skyscrapers that look like shoeboxes in the sky. So long as emerging skyscrapers are designed with the highest quality and don’t look out of place, London in the future will be a beautiful city that harmonises old and new in perfect synergy.
That's what I love about London can see the old and new right next to eachother. But your right exceptional design is needed for new building not mediocrity

I'm afraid that central London's skyline has lost some of its magic to bland pieces of architecture. Nice video though.
There's some amazing building that I try and capture here like One Blackfriars which is a stunning building. But will be interesting to see how the skyline develops. They need to keep a tight grip on only letting the best be built

Thanks. It's London Bridge station that was renovated after they built the Shard with the iconic new roof lines.
The skyscraper with the wind turbines on top is such a good idea. Free energy! And it looks cool too.
Yeah it was a first of its kinds. There's some issues with vibration from them but hopefully they will sort in other versions of it but it does look cool

High number of skyscrapers
Why tell me
It's because of a law stopping building being built taller than St Pauls cathedral. The laws have been relaxed now but some of the skyscraper shapes are still dictated by the line of sight laws that still exists where you have to be able to see St Pauls from certain angles. It is also why London skyscrapers are generally in clusters together.
Lots of history and building regulations.
@@Aerial_Bruce Nothing to do with the height of St Pauls. The restriction is because of the London City airport. You are correct about the sight lines for St Pauls though.

The City of London is way to Futuristic.
Guess it depends which part your in. Like the fact there's a mix of really old historic parts like my St Pancras video and then some super modern glass skyscraper areas
