What do you guys think about these changes to the Aquarion tribe? Do you think they'll now be competitively viable? One extra thing that I brought up but forgot to explicitly show off in the video is yes, you can build sawmills, forges, etc, on water tiles Also, apparently, other tribes have access to a "Fill" action, which undoes Aquarion's "Flood" action on a particular tile. Oh, one more thing. *YELLY BELLY*
Absolutely,It haves more can be even a possible tribe on drylands since its biome acts as wáter and dry enemy lands can be change with sinking tiles ability, like polaris can expand its strength, its biome
I’m pretty sure construction is really strong for them, since they can make any flooded tile into farmland without any forest burning necessary. Plus the extra positioning of windmills over water tiles
I think flooding could do with a SLIGHT boost like maybe it does 2 or 3 tiles instead of just the one you’re standing on but that’s all I can think to really tweak right now Also YELLY BELLY
One part of the flooded tiles that you missed is that they are not permanent. There is a “Fill” command that other tribes have access to in order to undo the flooding, just like breaking ice against Polaris. Other than that, I’m really excited for these changes!
Finally all special tribes have a special way to play. Cymanti with explosive early game power, elyrion with a good early and amazing late game with dragons, polaris with its ice making abilities and insane ice fighting boosts, and now Aquarion and its amazing naval strength and space to build.
So hyped for this. Aquarion was always weird, their identity thematically being water units, but notoriously being mechanically bad on water and instead great on drylands with roads. Then the naval rework came and their cool water stuff was basically powercrept. The roads tech was nerfed and thus Aquarion were the water tribe with their only really relevant gimmick being riders that can swim, wow. This rework brings Aquarion their mechanical and thematic characteristic back and I am so hyped to see Aquarion as a cool tribe again instead of a tragedy, regardless of them potentially being an off-meta pick!
I love this rework, I really hope the beta does not take anything away. The new units are all vital, they need the aqua farms, and the atolls are a very nice change. Lost cities is also very needed and gives them the edge in water maps, and levels the playing field in less water maps, and is very on theme. Flooding is cool, esp when opponents can fill it. And yeah.......LOVEE this rework. My only issue is that I wish they did something with the super unit. Because all the other super units of special tribe are so special. But the crab just feels like a giant but with a crab skin on. I am not even saying something crazy like splash damage, but maybe.....flooding areas as it moves, like the gammi. The gammi have freeze, so this still makes crabs weaker, but at least it would make them useful to a strategy, and very vital in certain plans.
I like the coming rework, Aquarion gonna be great. I got some ideas. My idea is Marine life and Spearing should change place in the tech tree. Sharks become the knight of Aquarion, they become the Navalons of Elyrion before and they have chain. Tridentions have reduced attack and is now like the scouts for Aquarion. Their like archers but has more mobility and escape, and scout ability(further vision).
I kinda wanna see Aquarian in a Drylands, seeing how their Flooding exists. They’ll still most likely suck, but at least they have a form of counter play now..?
I feel like not having bombers late game will be an issue plus the shark being more expensive than the warrior rammer and as expensive as a defender rammer. Their economy though seems like it could become very strong to counteract that. It will be interesting.
I am loving the changes so far. I don’t have it on steam but I think once it’s fully released, it will make aquarion a much more viable option for games.
So happy to see this rework, from the first time I started playing the game Aquarion were my visually fav tribe but they were just so bad 😭 now not only stronger but more Aquarion then ever!
I love the Yelly Belly because im pretty sure its a pun about Jelly Belly’s (obviously) but also its called a “Yelly” because Midjiwan is a Swedish company! Swedish people pronounce the “J” as a “Y” sound, Like Jeb from Minecraft.
I tried it out yesterday and was immediately anticipating your video on it. Sharks were kinda disappointing, they did less damage than I thought they would based on their stats and took damage really easily, like, at Knight levels. I, instead, found salvation through Yelly Bellies. They are absolutely ridiculous; I just parked enough on front lines to cause damage and attacked around the sides. I neutralized entire waves of enemies this way. Despite having 0 attack, they're incredible offensive units too, because when you move them it causes damage as well, as long as the enemy unit hasn't also recieved damage yet from that Yelly Belly.
I think that when you “get” a city from a ruin it should say something like new city restored or ruins converted insted of village converted, but this might just be a bug
The ocean ruins give level 3 cities but they only produce 2 stars, the same if you capture a village on land. I wonder if that's intentional? Very good video
@@GullYYGamer So many times that a city is one tile away from the sea which ends up making a huge difference for producing naval units fast/getting city connections.
They should just buff the crab somehow. Like current version crabs are just bad because a giant on water just doesn't work against entirely ranged naval units. Even rammers can outclass them without too much effort.
@@eggroll5510 They have 5 defense and since they have creep and retreat they are pretty decent at sieging cities. so most definitely stronger than regular giants
I did find it funny that Sharks were just called "Sharks," yet the Jellyfish are *YELLY BELLY*. That being said, if Midjiwan changes Yelly Belly's name I will be plunged into eternal darkness
All of aquarion new units are very tanky. yelly belly destroys warrior that try to attack it. and sharks are just rammers that can enter the fight 1 turn earlier. Also Crab is getting the buff they deserve the most. (in these last few patches, crab got +1 movement on water, 5 defense, creep, and now aquafarms)
Units that have more than 1 movement, like cloaks and Amphibians, only have 1 movement on land. Whereas on the water they get their full movement. Also, I believe if an Aquarion player captures an enemy city with roads they can't use them for a movement boost
Eh. I feel like the flood mechanic feels too weak imo. The amount of tempo loss required to flood tiles is so great that in a real person match you often dont get that much leeway to do all that without the enemy army inflicting heavy damage
What do you guys think about these changes to the Aquarion tribe? Do you think they'll now be competitively viable?

Oh interesting, I'll specify that in a pinned comment
what tech do players need to buy to have fill?
they walk onto the tile, then click “Fill” (doesnt need any tech, just needs the unit to have an action)
On Reddit the developer said that they couldn’t fill them back in. That’s odd.
