Community spirit is rare these days. So unfortunate that future generations may never experience the beauty and freedom of living in a world where trust abides. Such a precious thing to loose.
@@lordeden2732 oooh. Salty comment. I might have stated the obvious but.... i will state it again. Wonderful actor who kicked every role he played out the park.🤣

@kibbylol we lived in a high trust society then, so we're condfident of safety. Now that communities have been destroyed the political classes and replaced by izl@ms and gimme gr@nts , we are so much better better off , we are told
Can't we have a comments thread on any programmes without someone shoe-horning their soap box about migrants into it? Whatever the subject someone will sound off and blame it all on migrants 🥱
And it was the height of bad manners to bang on about politics and religion in mixed company. People were taught to be polite and considerate, consider other people's feelings. Instead of making irrelevant proclamations either assuming that everyone thinks you're right or that you sound so belligerent that no-one wants a confrontation. Conversation was once considered an art, showing an interest in the other person, encouraging others, taking the trouble to remember what they liked. A different way to live indeed.
Cute episode. Such lovely weather. I enjoy it when it’s grey and windy a bit. The reflections on the streets and sidewalks look refreshing and all vegitation look double the time greener. The smell? Awe.. good Lord, uplifting and the cold is the cherry on top of it all. Beautiful.. it is.
Does anyone remember Megs Jenkins doing a TV commercial for either Tetley or PG Tips tea? Must of been 50 plus years ago but can't find details on the net.
@@annmozdzer1258 ... No definitely not, her last TV appearance was in 1985 in the TV film "A women of substance". She passed away in October 1998 long before Little Britain was made.
The same premise for this sitcom as "One Foot in the Grave". - See how two different writers ( Vince Powell and David Renwick ) handle the same basic situation.

Never to be repeated: the old community spirit, all gone😢

... And Northern Accents... Yorkshire Maybe 🤔🏴 11:04
You rather had to have “ community spirit” if your front door was a foot away from the neighbors.

Even frivolous, throwaway sitcoms had excellent actors in them back in the day

I love these old movies, good clean humour, 👍👏👏
I loved John Mills, he was a wonderful actor, my favorite was Hobsons Choice with another favorite of mine Charles Loughton.
This reminded me of that great tv series For The Love of Ada.
I remember freezing at Holyhead waiting for the ferry as a kid. Have never been back! Thanks for sharing.

Oh my, how I'd love to be in Blackpool 1981 eating my fish and chips from out of a newspaper walking along the Golden Mile. Such a nostalgia fest.
@juliepeters3716 ... Yes, indeed, the only thing that hasn't changed is that the seagulls still pinch your chips.
I remember this lovely gentle series, it was one of the last comedies produced by ATV
Aww loved it ❤ thanks.
Oh I really 💙 loved this, the good old days! ☀️

Wonderful
What a huge comedown for Sir John Mills. A wonderful movie career, then this tripe
Not at all. I would rather watch this with Sir John than anything modern. Megs Jenkin was in Tiger bay with him & Hayley.
