The person writing the title should resign for misspelling ....
Yep
Which word or words?
@@codyzimmerman7598 Lol reigns...that's funny. Thank you for the info.
Do you really think God cares about bureaucratic stuff like this?
Yes, as a theology major if the person says we baptize the Holy Spirit is not conferred on the person because they are not acting in the person of Christ (persona Christi). When the priest says I baptize he is saying essentially, “I (with Christ working in me) use the power of Christ invested in me to baptize this person. The person of any denomination when baptizing essentially becomes the person of Christ in that moment. They don’t literally but in the sense of the power they have to confer the Holy Spirit. This is a major error by the priest! That means many people were baptized and think they received the Holy Spirit and did not.
Also, baptism is a universal sacrament meaning that anyone can technically baptize if they are already a baptized Christian. Catholics are not the only ones who believe this. I say that because some will say this is just Catholic stuff but the conferring of the Holy Spirit at baptism is believed by many denominations and most denominations do it correctly.
It’s not on,y the power of a priest to say the least. Still it should be done by a priest unless in a case of emergency. Protestants would disagree with getting permission from a priest first. Although the Catholic Church does have its reasons for this.
God is love, mercy... but people forget he's also just and orderly. He never changes, he is always good and true. But he doesn't change his mind, once people reject him and fall to hell, there is no going back. It's not God's fault, it's because they didn't choose him.
If you believe this stuff has no importance whatsoever, then what's even the point of baptism ?
As long as a baptism is done in the name of the TRIUNE God and uses water...it doesn't matter what exact words are said. Did you know that in a life and death emergency anyone can baptize someone? This is ridiculous.
Apparently, not in the Catholic Church.
“St. John the Baptist” was literally a doomsday prophet who lived in the wild among the animals and didn’t clean himself. He’s the same man that baptized Jesus.
This whole thing just reminds me of the “indulgences” the Catholic Church used to collect so that people could essentially buy their loved ones soul out of purgatory.
@@williams2187baptism saves you. Sorry you don’t like the formula Jesus was baptized under.
No! Saying WE baptize is not permissible AT ALL. Christ is who is baptizing. There is no PLURAL for Jesus Christ.
This guy resigned but the ones who molest the altar boys just get moved to a different church. What an organization!
Honestly I thought he was going to be because he touched some little kid or something I'm just glad no one got hurt
A misuse of one word and that invalidates a baptism? I'm sure God has forgiven the Priest.
ridiculous fuss over nothing
Like a prayer, the meaning and significance of the baptism is what a Protestant like myself would think is important to God and the family. We versus I? God isn’t that nitpicking, but rather considers the meaning in our hearts.
Wait .. so I baptize vs we baptize but it's God that baptize.. when did "I" become god?
They're priests like the Apostles before them. St. John the Baptist said in Matthew 3:11 - “As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance...", St. John the Baptist was not God either. However, in this case, anyone after 1968 aren't really priests anyway, they belong to the Novus Ordo Vatican 2 sect that took over the buildings of the Church, but they're modernist infiltrators who are actually Protestant Freemasons in disguise. There are very few actual priests ordained in the old rite today who are valid and apostolic, since we're in times of the Great Apostacy.
Because it's not the community baptizing them, when you baptize someone it's Christ's doing not our doing, so we in place of him say "I".
When did “we” become God?😂
Ignorance in all aspects of the word. The priest had to resign when all he did was use a wrong word but those priests who have abused children are still serving at churches. What a religion! Makes me mad to hear about this when worst wrongdoings have been going on in the Catholic churches. May God forgive us all.

(NKJV) Acts 8:36-38
(36) Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, "See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?"
(37) Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may."
And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."
(38) So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.
He resigns because the Catholic Church can’t decide what pronoun to use when “baptizing” an infant who has no idea what going on?
Which scriptures in the Bible does the Catholic Church use as authority for baptizing infants?… and why is no one talking about the one requirement mentioned here in the Bible for baptism, that infants are not capable of:
“See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?"
(37) Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may."
OMG seriously, the baptism is done in the name of Jesus Christ period. Besides baptism look in the Bible people get baptized when they are aware of what they are doing and understand the holy spirit coming into them.
That kinda talk is heresy to this cult brother lol
So a "baby" understands the holy spirit coming into them?!?? Geez get that kid a job NOW!
@@notme2day Which really tells you something about this whole system of baptizing babies at all -- that it's not even according to the Bible in the least.
@@mus14k19 And it came to pass on that day God spoke to Abraham..."Dude...I totally elfed up when I made the penis...I am going to have to ask you to cut part of it off.." It's not about saving people from sins...it's about hazing more people into your local tribal brotherhood...to divide US from THEM. This is a dark pattern of religion that needs to go the way of the dodo.
Baptism in the name of JESUS CHRIST only elevates the apostle over GOD. In Acts 2, St. Peter was not giving instructions how to baptize. He certainly did not consider himself above JESUS.
This was not done intentionally. God knows this. I believe in Gods eyes these baptisms are valid.
The fact that the mom says “it’s like my baby’s baptism didn’t even count”, shows her complete lack of faith and instead an attempt to make a story out of nothing.
@@codyzimmerman7598 In all honesty, I missed the part about the Vatican saying he used the wrong words so my mistake by not addressing that. I’ll do that now.
Yes, I do believe it’s still a lack of faith on her part. I don’t really care if it’s the Vatican, Queen Elizabeth, the President, or some random guy off the street. If your child was baptized by a pastor, whose service you attend, one that the community has faith in, then why all of a sudden does it become null & void because “the Vatican says so”? Do you no longer have faith in your pastor, or the practice of baptism? If you want to go further, Brittanica says this about Catholic baptisms “Baptism is understood, therefore, as the total annulment of the sins of one's past and the emergence of a totally innocent person.”
Why did her baby need a baptism in the first place, what sins had it committed to require a baptism? The point of baptism is to renounce your sins and commit to living a life based on faith. A baby cannot do this. So if you’re doing it just for the sake of doing it, then why complain when “the right words” weren’t used?
Finally, Jesus was baptized by a man who lived in the wild among the animals, who was known for being crazy, and he was someone we would likely see today as many of the “doomsday prophets” with signs saying “the end is near!!! REPENT”
(Quite literally too, St. John the Baptists whole thing was talking about judgment)
But my point here, is that as long as you have faith in your God, faith in the act being performed, and faith in the one performing it, then why does the vocabulary matter? Especially when these “words” have likely been translated over multiple times to many different languages. Your faith shouldn’t be shaken, especially by the same people that used to collect “indulgences” to get loved ones souls out of purgatory. Or the ones that are consistently found to be violating these same children they’re baptizing. And yes, I know that’s a huge stereotype, generalization, etc., but you also can’t say it hasn’t happened and that there’s not an alarming amount of evidence for it.
Long story short, yes, it does show a lack of faith on her part. “The Vatican” is not God. The Vatican is a group of people. Inherently sinful people, according to the Bible.
Sorry for the lengthy reply, but it just amazes me that people can be so taken advantage of in their faith. On top of that, I believe I saw something that said he didn’t know he was even doing it wrong, and he expressed his shame and guilt over the mistake. Is that not repenting, showing that he is a man of strong faith? I just can’t believe that God is going to say “no no no Jimmy, I can’t let you into Heaven. Your pastor didn’t say the secret code”
@@codyzimmerman7598 I’ll also add, I come from a Christian upbringing so that’s the extent of my knowledge here. That’s why I looked into catholic baptisms to make sure I wasn’t getting anything wrong. Now sure, more could come out about this guy and maybe he wasn’t acting in good faith. Maybe there’s more to the baptisms that I’m unaware of. But I’m not unaware of religious figureheads taking advantage of their position in power. Also, the Vatican still held the belief that the Earth was the center of our solar system until roughly 1992. Were all Catholics outraged in the 90’s when they found out that it’s actually the sun? Or did they realize that “huh maybe sometimes the Vatican can be wrong”?
@@codyzimmerman7598 hmmmmm
I don't think "God" would blame the parishioners and invalidate their baptism if it was wronged by someone in a situation they had no control over. A loving "God" would understand and accept that the people got baptized in good faith and assumed they had been correctly baptized, or is God that petty???
So now all those babies are not going to heaven when they die?
If course they are going to heaven when they die. I’m a Baptist and we don’t hold children, especially babies, accountable for the original sin. I was baptized at age 10. Any baby who needs a ride to heaven can hitch one with me when I die.
Children are angels and all go to heaven when they die. Some people don't know what they are saying. I am Catholic but I don't go by what the church says. The Bible was inspired by God but human beings wrote the Bible in their own words.
@@juanitavillarreal9929 'I am Catholic but I don't go by what the church says.'
Sorry, it does not work like that. If you don't go by what the Church says, then you are NOT a practising Catholic.
Relax. Father God knows the heart!
If INTENT to sin is as wrong as sinning, then why shouldn't the INTENT to BAPTIZE be as valid as baptizing? Especially if the ritual performed was observed, legally witnessed, attested to, notarized and celebrated.
I can't believe basically a verbal typo has caused so many problems but the catholic church is strict on rules. Why couldn't "We" mean God through the Priest?
That's just the least of what is wrong with the Church.... You will never find the Christ in church.
Truthfully , he didnt d9 anything spitefull , ugly, he wasnt trying t9 bring attention to himself.
Hes human, like us...remember.....were not..............perfect
Invalid baptisms? How do you do it wrong?
I was denied communion at a Catholic Church because I could not verify my baptism. Can anyone?
These superstitious actions don't really matter. Church and their rules are a bunch of nonsense.
The issue as stated is that the priest used the word "we" instead of I on the grounds that it is God that baptizes the child alone and the use of "we" assumes that the priest was inferring himself and God.. But that goes against the Catholic and some Christian Churches dogma of a Tri-Partite God (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost). If there is therefore a Tri-Partite God, then the correct statement is "We baptize thee."
Question: did Paul or Peter or whomever, baptize in English?
Holy crap! I might not be baptized!
Please Father. IT WAS A honest mistake ! We need all the good priests we can get ! Please.think about this.! Thank you ..🙏
Sad,I hope he can come back
Hey priest... I'm sure god still considers those babies baptized. You're OK bro
No he doesn’t
"Wash me with hyysop and i shall be whiter than snow" i was shocked all the people preforming baptisms didnt know what hyysop was. Children cannot make decisions for themsleves and do not need to be baptized they are already pure. They cant accept jesus christ as their savior if they dont understand what that means if you baptize them as a child and tell them they are good for life you never gave them a chance to make the decision on their own to follow jesus when their brain is fully developed
This is ridiculous.
Words matter. A priest cannot change the words for the consecration or for baptism or for any other sacrament. All the sacraments require exact wording. A baptism can still be valid by baptism of desire, but it cannot be sacramentally valid. Even though it is likely the case that each of these baptisms were still valid by baptism of desire, once it is realized that a mistake was made the humble and proper thing to do is to get it done properly as a sacrament.
For everyone who is dismissing the mistake, it is the priest's duty to know how to perform sacraments properly. It is a big deal. That being said, without dismissing the gravity, it does seem like it was unintentional and that he is sorry.
The Catholic Church is not an individualistic religion. Private prayer can be done however you wish. But public prayer, especially in regard to the sacraments, falls under the jurisdiction of the Church. If you don't believe than you don't believe, but still respect what the Church teaches.
As for people claiming that he was forced to resign, there is no indication of that. But even if there was, the priesthood is not a career. It is a vocation. The priest goes where he is sent by the bishop. Even when a priest resigns the bishop still has to approve the resignation. A priest gives up self will when he takes the vow of obedience. Just the same as people give up the right to marry another when they take the wedding vows.
What would Jesus do?
Be aware that flipping over tables and chasing people around with a whip is within the realm of possibilities.
Christ within him (We), who Baptizes.
Our Father prayer: ..give Us (plural) this day Our Daily Bread and forgive Us Our debts (trespasses) as We forgive Our debtors (trespassers)...
Anyone who believes in such nonsense is a fool.
If your religion thinks the people can be condemned for a semantic error of a priest, then I suggest you rethink your religious beliefs.
What a pile of nonsense.
And just how is I Christ? Shouldn’t they baptize in the name of the holy trinity.
This is ridiculous

As long as you baptized in the name of Jesus Christ!!!
Beware any preists or pastors when you start preaching and baptizing you risk cursing yourself by turning people away. You judged them from their past or their clothes or anything, you didnt want them in your church, they turn away from god and fall from grace god will be looking at you. The Catholic church and all of christindom have been using the wrong words for centuries in that case. The Lord said to baptize in the NAME of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is just theater. None of it matters.
Well I guess she will have to baptize her child again because the priest was representing God and said I baptist talking for God. Like God said you come to me through my son Jesus.
That is so silly.
Water baptism is NOT required for salvation. This is the false doctrine teachings of the Catholic church. The only requirement for salvation is to believe that Jesus is the son of God and that he died for your sins. And to accept him as your savior. Anything beyond this is false doctrine teaching.
Thr church is a false god for most of these people sadly
Then why did St. John the baptist baptize people then? I understand if you didn't know about God or the bible at all.... Why did Jesus get baptized by John if it's not required? You're being baptized with water and the Holy Spirit to become a 'beloved child of God.'

Considering the catholic church puts Mary above Jesus,, Aren't ALL catholic baptisms Neil and void? Considering they worship the mother and great child which can be found in Pagan religions,, and the fact that the Catholics claim the priests can absolve a man from sin,, not God, Jesus, or Holy spirit. And My Bible tells me theres only ONE HOLY FATHER,,,,, and he doesn't reside on Earth. Blasphemy it is.
Who is Neil?
As a theology major if the person says we baptize the Holy Spirit is not conferred on the person because they are not acting in the person of Christ (persona Christi). This means many people were baptized and think they received the Holy Spirit and did not. For those saying this is a small matter it’s because of a lack of understanding of Catholic theology. Essentially, by church teaching thousands of people are walking around thinking they have the Holy Spirit and do not.
Catholicism as a joke your whole religion was created to get the Christians and the pagans to stop fighting each other. You bow down to A false God (Mary) believing that she is without sin even though she is a human being and no human being is born without sin. You baptize babies because you think they’ll either go to hell or limbo. What kind of a gracious all loving merciful God would send an innocent child to such a horrible place. About every 30 years you completely change what you believe. There was a time when Catholics told people not to read the Bible because they might misinterpreted. You build statues of your Saints even though the Bible clearly says not to build statues or graven images to bow down and worship too. Ahead of the entire religion claims that he is equal with God. Massacring countless people during the crusades to take back the holy land even though God never even told you to. Torturing people like the Jews into believing in Jesus during the Spanish Inquisition. Catholicism is nothing but a great example of what happens when human beings try to do God‘s work without hearing his will. Christianity is the only religion that supports Jesus and God‘s will. We don’t get it right all of the time but at least we’re not a direct contradiction to everything God stands for. Catholicism is nothing but a perversion in the eyes of Christ.
