So if you have a steering box and its sector shaft or piston gears are worn out, can you replace those parts? Or would you discard that box at that point? Thanks, really appreciate the video.
@@johnbennett4362 I don't know of any company that makes replacement parts. You're looking at getting a different box. You could purchase aftermarket such as Redhead or PSC, but that gets expensive in a hurry.
Question what's the little nipple on the center ofthe input shaft do and what would cause them to leak, I recently called myself rebuilding my scout box following your videos to find this leak, any ideas?
@@wiltonjohnson1287 I believe you are taking about the adjuster nut that is in the center of the 4 bolts. That is used to adjust the lash between the sector shaft and the piston. If you take it apart, mark it exactly where it is so you can put it back to that same spot. If you put it back together and don't do it right, your great can bind and fail.
Very clear, thank you.
Thank you for this overview. I need to rebuild the original CJ 7 box and bought a used one as a sub/xtra. I was wondering how to check the used one.
