If this is the remake of the 1993 movie, I’m so excited. The 93 movie was so good and I’ve never been able to find it anywhere. I’m so glad other people remember it and are bringing it back!
@@AndresPerez-tg9ms There are very few new ideas-movies have always and will always draw from themselves and other sources. The young ppl don’t recognize the legendary Joan Chen. She was in the Last Emperor and the 90s Twin Peaks. She’s such a pioneer in Asian representation. The cast is great, Bowen, Kelly, Youn and Lilly. Yassssssss
I feel like I've seen this story 500 times, including Ang Lee's The Wedding Banquet(is this meant to be a remake? The title can not be a coincidence) and I'm still totally here for Bowen Yang and Joan Chen. It look hilarious.
I really love the original and don’t think a remake is necessary at all, but this cast looks decent. I think it has the chance to be really funny and touching so I’ll keep an open mind.
I'm torn. I love the original Ang Lee film so much, and I'm not sure it needed a remake/redo/re-imagining. However, this cast is incredible, and we just don't get enough films featuring Asian LGBTQ+ characters.
Bowen can be annoying sometimes, but I hope he would minimize his SNL-ish acting style here. I look forward to watching what kind of an update they would put on the 1993 film of the same title, as this trailer hints at the same storyline as the original.
@@RaymondHng It is because one of the major languages of Taiwan is Mandarin but that doesn’t mean they are “Chinese”. I was referring to the original comment referring to it as a “Chinese”. And I am not referring to the language. For goodness sake. All major characters, except the white ones, were played by Taiwanese actors and actresses. The director, Ang Lee, and the one of the writers, Neil Peng, are both Taiwanese. That is why I said that it is not “Chinese” turned into Korean and now English.
@ I meant to convey that the film's language is not Taiwanese Hokkien. 95-97% of Taiwanese are of Han ancestry and 2.3% are indigenous. The first significant wave of Han Chinese settlers in Taiwan came in the 1600s, mostly from Fujian and Guangdong provinces in China. The Qing Dynasty annexed Taiwan in 1683 and encouraged further Han migration through 1895. After the Chinese Civil War in 1949, the Kuomintang retreated to Taiwan, bringing around 1.2 to 2 million Mainland Chinese from various provinces.
I’m so glad that we not only haven’t seen the last of Lily Gladstone, but that we get her in something lighthearted and comedic!
"Everything in this house is GAY!" got me good!! 😂
Youn Yuh-jung 😭😭 so happy to see her back in American work I’ve been watching her in only Korean things when I was a kid I love this for her.
You had me at Bowen Yang & Lily Gladstone.
100%. Rarely get that excited
Yup, that's enough info for me to commit
EXACTLY! ❤

My local library has it on dvd!
Thinking same thing!
Oh that's the one! Directed by Ang Lee, who also made Brokeback Mountain.
It's gutsy to remake a beloved film from a beloved film maker.
Omg i couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Han Gi Chan! From Where Your Eyes Linger to a movie with Bowen Yang and Lily Gladstone. That's so cool! ❤
While I liked the 1993 film, this is a fun update, and I think 30 years is okay to do a reboot!
Oh its a remake of Ang Lee's?
@@TititoDeBologaynot really, they just continue not having new good ideas 😢

Bowen Yang is the latest SNL break out star! I'm here for this.
I'm sold. Love Bowen, and the whole cast looks great!
Omg kelly!! Good for her ❤
And this is a hell of a cast🎉
This looks absolutely amazing
Lily Gladstone is my girl I'll watch anything she's in 🥰
cannot wait to watch this film - and goodness what an incredible CAST!!!! ❤
I am so watching this. I never saw the original, so this will be great.
The 1993 original was directed by three-time Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee. The remake has some large shoes to fill.
Bowen Yang, Joan Chen AND the Linda Lindas??? HELL YES!
The young ppl don’t recognize the legendary Joan Chen. She was in the Last Emperor and the 90s Twin Peaks. She’s such a pioneer in Asian representation. The cast is great, Bowen, Kelly, Youn and Lilly. Yassssssss
"Saw Angela! Lee!" in captions at the start-- remembered Ang Lee did the original movie. :>)
I love it! ❤ Looks hilarious!! 😂
OBSESSSSSED WITH BOWEN YANG.
Han Gi Chan playing ANOTHER gay son to a rich conservative family is really funny. At this point he’ll be typecasted for this niche lol
This is going to be funny. You gotta know that the grandmother knows. I am just happy to see Joan Chen. She is beautiful!
Now!, this is what I want to see

If this is half as good as The Farewell it will be fabulous! Can’t wait !
Why are you comparing it to The Farewell?

Great cast. Looks hilarious.
“We gotta de-queer the house.”
Han gi chan ❤
Linda lindas' OH! in a trailer!!!
This is one remake that I can get behind.
Watching!
can't wait for it !!
I’m sorry Lily looks drop dead gorgeous oh my god
WOOOOOOOOOOOW CAN'T WAIT ! 😍
RM of Ang Lee's Oscar nominated masterpiece from 1992. This one looks fun too though.
Ahhhh... Its really sweet...
Bowen! 💜
“WE HAVE TO DE-QUEER THE HOUSE” EVERYTHING IN THIS HOUSE IS GAY” alright you’ve got me im sold!
I wanna see this🎉
I'm glad all these terrific actors are working, but is a premise that was already a little stale 30 years ago really worth re-making?
This looks cute.
ahh minari grandma. she needs more Hollywood 🎉
yeeesss let's make the world gay again please 🤩🤩🤩 (I like this slogan better than the alternative)
This looks fun.
Someone pls tell me what song this is
at first I thought it was a remake of a similar film in the same title from 1993
if Ang Lee is not mentioned, I just wait for streaming. Oh, and yes ....... 1st: FIRST !!!!
James Schamus is the producer of both the original and the remake.
Lily Gladstone! Sold

is this the remake of 1993 of the same title THE WEDDING BANQUET directed by Ang Lee? 🎉
Love Lily Gladstone. Didn't expect her to play lesbian but at least it's a comedy. But still prefer the original one.
ok… is there a reason we need a remake of the Lee Ang classic?
When is the release date?!
April 18, 2025
Love the remake
I like the 1993 original; check it out first
feels very American compared to the original that feels grounded
Joan Chen!!!!

Thank you, Load Tran, for reminding us all that you are, at heart, a voice actress.
Oh we've 'tweaked' so now it's a reason to remake it... I guess the original is to heady for today's market..
Does anyone know what the first song is?

Does he ever straight roles?
"Dequeer the house!"
“There’s so much lesbian literature” yeah 😅😂
I think the idea of what seems to me Americanizing a film that in essence is steeped in Asian family tradition and culture seems silly
So it's a remake with a change from Chinese to Korean.
Chinese culture (version 1) to Korean (version 2) and top cast by Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese actors. Hmmm....

This looks kinda crazy tbh

WHAT!!!

Yes. The original film was directed by the legendary Ang Lee and was released in 1993.
