    Glad your Drought is over. I love seeing all those flashy jasper pieces. And that crock is quite the find too, I found a piece today with a handle on it, the inside has a visible handprint where the maker held it while pressing the clay on to form the handle, I don't normally keep pieces of crock but this ones it pretty cool.... Good luck on you next hunt.

    Imagine how many points are still out there to find!! After thousands of years of occupation the number of artifacts left behind has to be astronomical.
    Every point I find I know that I saved it from being destroyed by farmers, excavators, builders, or natural breakage..
    As I drive down a paved road that passes a known site, I wonder how many points were paved over..
    I've found several points with pop scars from forest fires or breakage from tumbling in creeks.. I find way more brokes than whole points.. They're not heartbreakers to me.. a heartbreaker to me is a perfect point that is never found..

    IDK if it would be useful for what you're doing but I used to live in the fl keys and to hunt for good dive sites and lobster hunting spots I cut the bottom out of a five gallon bucket, left a half inch rim of the bottom, and glued in a clear piece of plexiglass. If the water is choppy or glaring, or maybe in your case a little too deep and muddy, you can put the bottom of the bucket in the water and look through. You could check out some of those deeper pockets?

    • @Theditchwalker
      @Theditchwalker  7 років тому +4

      Yes.,I have used one in the past....now that I'm over 40.,I tend to wanna shy away from bending over for hours lol....Seriously got a few spots I'm gonna have to dust the ole clear bottom bucket off on....:)...thanks and Goodluck

    Davis Brothers operated in Smithville from the 1920s until 1954. The churn is worth $100 +/-. One exactly like it sold on ebay last year for $65. It had a broken handle, but included the top.

    Can u give me advice on how to dig for points? I have found 13 arrowheads in two bars on the same creek so i thought it might be a good spot to dig. It is really rocky not sand though

    • @maglio64
      @maglio64 7 років тому +1

      Drew Sanders Try to locate the source and dig there. For the gravel use your boot to kick the waters edge. Or a screen sifter on a frame. There is a ton of youtube videos using all these methods.

    • @Theditchwalker
      @Theditchwalker  7 років тому +1

      I would tunnel into the bars your finding points on...use the water to tear apart the bar and clean out with shovel...or dig in the water in front of the bars...points usually hang up in front of the bars.,sometimes congregating in one spot....Goodluck

    Amazing how you can just find these and pick them up from everywhere. How old are they in general if its possible to tell? Any idea why so many ended up in the creeks? I would guess a arrowhead was quite a precious item from and indian or maybe not? Love your videos just found out about it. Thought I was hearing Johnny Cash talking the first time I saw your video😅. Greetings from Norway

      Thanks Anders...the finds in this vid are from the middle archaic period..that's 4 to 6,000 before present or 2 to 4,000 BC....the landscape is dramatically different than what we see today...streams and creeks have changed courses.,floods etc...the archaic period was a much wetter climate than what we see today..streams and rivers have eroded into these ancient settlements and deposited the artifacts in the stream beds...thanks for your comment...cheers

      Theditchwalker Thats just incredable. Thats some amazing history you are unearthing and holding in your hand. Makes you think. What was the name of the individ who made it, how did he live, how did he loose it and not the least did he catch anything with it! Are you allowed to keep them or are they proteced by law? Thank you for your reply. BR

      @@mrholm123 - They are allowed to keep everything they find. There are no laws against it. There are so many of these artifacts in every state where an indigenous tribe was located. I just noticed your questions and comments are 2 years old! Lol! Oh well, I hope you see this anyway!
