I chose the Hack too based on the Hamilton H-50 movement having loads of issues and generally being unreliable after a few years. Though this has a Miyota in it, It's likely to be a lot more reliable in the long run and, in my mind, it stays truer to the field watch spirit by being 100% a no-frills tool watch. It also has decent heritage so it's a win - win in my mind

I have heard mixed things about the H-50 as well. You're right, you cannot go wrong with a Miyota movement!

It really is a nice watch. Hoped the seconds hand was in another color, perhaps orange or red.

Yeah that's not a bad idea. I just wish it had some lume applied to it!

I really enjoyed your review. I have the version with the ivory coloured dial and i think the styling is spot on , i will keep mine on the black factory leather strap as it's very comfortable. I entirely agree with your criticism about the lume , water resistance and crystal, but overall i am really pleased i bought this watch.

Late to the party, but thoroughly enjoyed your review. I have this same watch and enjoy it tremendously. I disagree on the lume comments, I think given the thinnest of the lume print and the legibility plus overnight performance, the lume is great. Not Seiko diver lume great, but definitely better than Hamilton Khaki lume. Cheers

You need to put correct strap width on ..not a good look with that one... also mineral crystal is period correct .. so i see no issue with it

That's a fair point. I think the crystal is where they can make an exception. It wouldn't change the watch aesthetically if they added sapphire which would be a good thing because I hate when they mess with the original designs, but it would just be a nice upgrade

Nice review! I agree with almost everything you said. I found it on amazon for 250 and it's quite tempting at that price point, I'm thinking this could be my next watch.

Love It! Is this a reissue of the one supplied to the troops in Vietnam?

I'm not sure but I do know they've done several reissues. I've think they're supposed to resemble the watches from WW2

This one is from the WWII era.

Hi I hope you don’t mind me asking as I am new to mechanical watches and I am seriously considering getting one of these. If you score the timekeeping a 9, how can the movement be a 7? Thanks.

    • @wehrleyswatchbox7543
      @wehrleyswatchbox7543  2 роки тому +1

So essentially I gave the movement a 7 because it's a relatively basic movement. It's timing tolerance is between -20sec/+40sec per day which is a pretty wide range. But it was performing just well for me which is why the scores are different.
I apologize for the late response and thanks for watching!!

Hey mate, thanks for the video. I’ve just bought this watch also and want to change the band also to a standard nato strap. But I’m getting conflicting info on the strap size. Some say it’s 18mm others say 19 & 20mm. I know your strap size was a little big, but what size did you use and can you confirm what size it is? I could wait for it to arrive but would the straps to arrive at the same time as the watch.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

So to sum it up you were looking for a field watch, did a harsh review, realized it was a field watch, redid the review and here we are after take 2....

it is a decent field watch, but you dont really get your moneys worth. for $300 you should get 100 meters WR and a sapphire crystal. and the strap on mine i had to replace. it was way too long. i got this same one but it came with a different strap and the 24 hour markings have a yellow color instead of red. i like it but i feel like it should have been cheaper.

Just got it for 190 usd from Jomashop applied a 20usd credit I had with them I think at that price point is a no brainer. Love the Hamilton but I can not see myself paying over 450usd for it.

Put the original band back on the Bulova hack watch, before you do the review!!!
( You miss the mark on this review ).
