    you are best of comparing the output in lumen because you can't actually see the brightness in a video/photo's like this, the camera's will always scale down the brightness.

    Not ready for prime time --are they DOT certified. Back to the drawing board. To be effective, the CREE's need to be designed along with the reflector/light housing of the vehicle. Hence, the factory units on Audi's are unique to the respective models unlike the universal fit for 9004, 9003, H4 ........etc

    • @TheOneShaneAdam
      @TheOneShaneAdam 9 років тому

      Contrary to the erroneous information and internet rumor the DOT does NOT certify or approve products, The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration under the USDOT is charged with writing and enforcing Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and regulations. The manufacturers interpret the regulations and self certify their product meets the requirements of the FMVSS or Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. There is no way for entities to submit their products to the government for approval, and the government doesn't have the resources to review every product that companies would submit. In conclusion, there is no such thing as DOT approved.

    I'm not impressed unfortunately..
    LED technology is the future for sure but if you're looking for a crisp low beam and a long and wide high beam it seems like it will take a while?
    For many of us "up north", so to speak, it's not all about appearance but performance is the thing!
    Faster than HID, very good, but quality of the light and the beam and length is more important than just looking "cool"..
    Eagerly looking forward to better solutions..
    Best regards

    This thing is not as powerful as the HID's. The first thing that will fail with this kind of bulb is the cooling fan.

      It's better for me that this kit is less powerful than HID's.
      No glare on the road and enough to illuminate with a satisfying color of light emitted.

    • @blacksupra001
      @blacksupra001 10 років тому

      if you have a glare shield and good projectors you wont have any issues with glare the beams patterns can be very accurate, just installing hids in halogen housings will cause problems though, a retrofit conversion is the way to go or if you have round or rectangular headlights led headlight swap is another

    I have these for 9006 and 9005 high and low on the honda accord however they do not fit the factory housing I had to make a custom bracket to hold them in! they are smaller than the hid and halogen fittings but awesome lights I love mine! and cheap to! just as cheap as HIDS and halogens are 50 usa to 60 usa dollars for the crappy silver star xenon ultras waste of cash.

      nah, they're way brighter than hids. just the camera can't handle it. notice how it dims down after they power up? thats not the LEDs, leds down dim after power up

    • @blkgixxerslvr
      @blkgixxerslvr 9 років тому +3

      James Forsyth "just the camera can't handle it. notice how it dims down after they power up?" So that is your expert opinion huh? I don't mind when people want to debate, but do it with actual facts. These LEDs are not brighter than HID bulbs. My Osram CBI 66240s put out 3500lm whereas these LEDs only put out 2000lm. Also, these LEDs are being put in a halogen reflector housing which will scatter the light everywhere unlike a projector. It seems brighter because everything is lit up in front of you, but you can't see anything past 50 ft max. Having these LEDs in a halogen housing also blinds oncoming traffic because the headlight was not designed for a LED bulb. Do some research and sound somewhat intelligent next time.

    • @rhfd324
      @rhfd324 9 років тому +1

      What I'm trying to say is that there is tremendous width more so than HIDs. I have 55w HIDs with projectors and these LEDs smoke them, which is why I switched, may not put out as many so called Lumens but you change Lumens with different variables. And was it measured with luminous or radiant method? But as far as the camera aspect, uh yeah that's exactly why, the auto exposure does this video a huge injustice because of the light output. LEDs have numerous benefits over HIDs, no warm up, no massive power draw, no ballasts to go out, bulbs don't change colors after time, and the LEDs will outlast HIDs of any brand just due to life. These LEDs make my rigid industries duallys and 10" lightbar to where you can't tell they're on. My HIDs when I turned on my rigid stuff it was like turning on another set of HIDs. I will attach a better video for you to look at.
      BUT I will agree that if this guy would have put them in projectors they would look 10x better and not piss off everyone around him

    • @blkgixxerslvr
      @blkgixxerslvr 9 років тому

      James Forsyth LED headlights are just beginning to hit the OEM market. Acura, BMW, Audi have all released their first cars with LED headlights just within the past year. If you know the auto industry, then you know what this means. This is just the beginning stages for LEDs. There are a lot of advantages to LED over HID, but there are still hurdles to overcome.
      The biggest issue with LEDs is heat. An over heated LED will die very fast. Have you seen the back of a OEM LED headlight? The heat sinks are HUGE! We are not talking about a little 1 inch fan, that can fail, like the one in this video. Not to mention it is only 1 LED/headlight. The new Acura MDX has awesome LED headlights, but there are 5 LEDs/headlight. And the projector housings are made to precise specs for these LEDs. You think putting these tiny LEDs from the video in your reflector or HID projector is going to be as good or better? You are a fool.
      Your 55W HID kit you bought from eBay is shit. Halogen lights are better than those. My $800 50W HID system is unmatched by any LED headlamp currently on the market. LEDs have a very short wavelength, so they are super bright for up close, but fail at distance. When you are driving, you want brightness AND distance. LEDs haven't attained the distance yet to beat OEM HID systems. HID has had 18 years to grow and be the best. LEDs are just hitting the market. There will be a day when LED and Laser headlights are on top. But these shit LEDs in this video are no where close to being safe and reliable like the new OEM LED headlights.

    I don't think it makes sense to use these in regular reflector housings as they'll blind everyone around you. Just like HIDs, they should be tested in HID housings with a low cutoff line...

  • @111chicane
    @111chicane 10 років тому +2

    Everybody could notice - there are no High Beams ! And do you know why ? Because the LED for the High Beam stays on the bottom only and th regular halogen bulb emitts the light on 360 degrees and not on 180 or even 150 . And since the reflector of this and every other headlight is designed according the emitions from the halogen bulb, this LED bulb will never be able to replace the hallogen one. On top of that the advertised 1800 LM are H Beam + L Beam, so each of these 2 are 900 LM per bulb. Compared to about 3000 LM emitted from HID bulb ... I think that is waist of time and money.

    • @stehlajz
      @stehlajz 10 років тому

      You are wrong with the high beams. Standard H4 bulb light only 180° on high beam. On low beam 360°

    • @littodevilish
      @littodevilish 10 років тому +1

      stehlajz
      Actually correction.. the 180* with the shield on the H4 bulb is pointed upwards for LOW beam function not high beam. The shield is to keep light from shining onto the lower half of the reflective bowl which is used for high beam. 180* for low beam, 360* for high beam. But on most H4 housing the internal cap blocks the light directly below the bulb so the LED high beam in this product has most of it's light blocked so the high beam isnt' as effective.

      Tony Mira HID's actually run much hotter than standard halogens. And the current LED bulbs give off the same lumens with less power draw.
      0pTicaL823 do you understand how LED's work? They dont have hot bulbs, but the base gets hot. You can not create light without heat. Additionally those fans can run under water.

    When you see a Hiway Patrolman and they have someone pulled over, in the center of their light bar they have really bright lights that blind on coming traffic from a mile away, These are Hi-Output LEDs, and these LED headlights lights are the same. I have them on my HD Fatboy and a friend of mine has HID on his bike, these are whiter and just as bright.

    No thanks I will keep my 35 watt 4200k HIDs
    That's right 4200 al the way. 6K and higher sux. Sure they might look pretty blue, but all the do is blind oncoming traffic, and you really don't see well with them because the eye is less sensitive to blue light. It is mist sensitive to the green spectrum.

    • @darkpoet25
      @darkpoet25 9 років тому

      I used to think that the higher the temp on an HID kit, the brighter the light output. Upon some research I discovered the opposite to be true. Now 6K is fine, as it is a bluish/white output and still has a decent amount of lumen output. 8K and up are another story. I can't tell you the number of people I see where I live with green and purple HID kits that look like crap in their halogen housed headlights. Used to own a 2005 Suzuki Reno that I put a 4300K HID kit in and it looked great, but I traded it in a couple of months ago and got a 2015 Corolla with standard LED's for low beams. I've noticed that the LED's seem just as bright as the HID kit I had in the Reno, without being too blinding to oncoming traffic.

    my only problem with so many of these "just pop it into the halogen location" style things is they do not keep the same location of the light source (filments have cooler color temperatures as the edges with a hotter peak, HID arcs actually have the opposite, LEDs can vary depending on manufacturing but are typicaly more even ... this is beyond just the physical location of light generation... even a half inch off can cause a big difference in thrown pattern (thats how a lot of high/low beam optics work... the low is a slightly lower wattage light not in the focal point, and the high beam is a slightly higher wattage in the focal point), which moving the light source from the designed location alters the focus and pattern throw of the headlight... at best producing less light where needed, at worst blinding oncomming traffic (but then who cares about other people I guess?) and illegal for road use (again who cares about the law right?) ... if you want superior lighting, buy proper optics and replacement kits .... for HID and LED typically projector with a lens... for this specifically its even worse providing light to only half the reflector in low, and then both on high... hopefully the reflector is symmetrical ... as many these days are not (again to conform to the required light cut offs to not make you a safety problem for other drivers.. and to actually throw your headlights where they need to be... down the road)

    So I was driving with one of these lights enjoying a nice summer evening. As I was driving in the hot weather I began to notice smoke coming from the hood of my car, sparks everywhere/ I had no idea what to do as the lights flickered. I noticed a nearby swimming hole. I screamed to the kids, "GET OUT OF THE F*** WAY". I drove my car into the water and a great wave surrounded my car. As I sat their by the bank looking at my submerged vehicle, I began to wonder why I didn't just keep the stock and relied on a cheap fan. Sigh :'(

      @rafe684 9 років тому +1

      That's not a HID bulb bro it's LED bulb most led headlight bulb should come with fan to help cool it down when it's use for long period of time or some even come with heat sink.

    I don't understand why you need a cooling fan as led's run really cool

    • @AndreaGraziadio92
      @AndreaGraziadio92  10 років тому

      The fan is required to dissipate the heat

    • @ConnecticutDashcam
      @ConnecticutDashcam 10 років тому

      Right but I didn't think led's made that much heat to need a fan?

    • @darkcashyz
      @darkcashyz 10 років тому +2

      asdbs11 LED bulbs weren't made of hard glass like halogen/Xenon bulbs, they were made very soft. I don't know what they were made of, but it looks just like plastic or that kind of stuff. So, it's better to take any excess heat off the bulb or they will melt.
      There are many new models that were released with improvements this year, 3200Lumen with fan & 2400Lumen without fan but comes with good heatsink. You might want to try them. I'm thinking of ordering ones for my self too. I think I'm getting 3200Lumen for my low beam and 2400Lumen for high beam since my car has separated low & high beam headlights. Hope this helps...

      Led's run quite hot if you want them to put out a lot of light

    • @warachito
      @warachito 9 років тому

      they run pretty hot at high lumens.. and with higher temps, more probability to fail because of heat, they need big heat sinks.

      +jspcrew No, nono sono omologate e riflettono leggermente la luce in alto ma non danno troppo fastidio a gli altri guidatori.

      Te hai questo modello che produce 2000LM o hai il modello inferiore(molto più diffuso e comune)che produce 1800LM?

    • @OritanoVero
      @OritanoVero 10 років тому

      1800lm, ma nel video quando accendi gli abbaglianti non vedo tanta profondità.

    • @AndreaGraziadio92
      @AndreaGraziadio92  10 років тому

      Dal vivo si nota la differenza. Infatti avevo letto che nel modello da 1800LM il problema era con gli abbaglianti che sono poco potenti. Con il modello che ho io questo problema non c'è però ti ripeto che dovresti vederlo dal vivo per poter verificarlo.

      L'unica cosa negativa è che la luce viene riflessa un po' anche in alto e può dar fastidio agli automobilisti che vengono nel senso opposto.
