    Hey Matt, it's almost been a year since a friend and I did a 45 mile segment of this path and got the inspiration from this video. Thanks so much it was so memorable and stunning at a time of the year when we were all still in and out of restrictions, thanks so much !

    I have been investigating what would be my first thru hike since i was bitten by the hiking bug in scotland last year. I was getting drawn to the pembrokeshire one as it seems pretty untouched and not too long. You have sold me with your videos and helpful website...i will be doing it solo this summer (ive strted booking in camp sites) carrying my own kit (10kg baseweight).. but in 17 days as im probably old enough to be your mom so wont be sprinting it!

    • @mattwalkwild6784
      @mattwalkwild6784  3 роки тому

      I had that same think when I did my first hike in Norway! Which hike did you do? Pembrokeshire is fantastic and very remote, but it is a fairly long hike. Glad you found the videos and website helpful. Great on you for doing it solo, I found it an incredible experience. 10kg is a good weight. 17 days is plenty of time to enjoy the pretty towns and the beaches all along the coast! Good luck

      @@mattwalkwild6784 i went to scotland twice within a few months, i went for two weeks loved it and went back for two weeks. I didnt do a particular trail but i bagged some munros in the cairngorms, ben nevis, nc 500, isle of skye twice and the isle of lewis and harris. I know the pembrokeshire one isnt the shortest out there but in the scheme of them like swcp 630 miles or wales coast path 870 or cape wrath 200 miles but in the middle of no where , i think its a more acceptable beginner trail. I tend to get lost so beach on one side is a start! i am doing the ggw / whw with my son in the autumn so that was off the table for my first plus ive seen ticks the size if house cats in the summer in scotland so its a nope (pembrokeshire is considered a tick safe area so good for summer). thanks and goodluck on your trails this year aswell i will be interested to see what you get upto.

      @@littlenicky31 Those Scotland hikes sound great, Isle of Skye really interests me! That's true, the SWCP is really long and challenging! However, I must say that the Pembrokeshire Coast Path is hard also. A lot of good hikes coming up in any case, hope you enjoy them :)

      @@mattwalkwild6784 hi again, im back i actually did it and have been home for two days. I did it south to north like you but over 17 days. Your videos were my inspiration and i followed through. It was amazing but as you stated hard terrain. Alot of rocks (st davids head, strumble, last day) alot of climbing and changeable weather. My favourites were bosherton lily ponds, the rock formations either side of solva harbour, strumble head (even tho there was a storm that day) and ceibwr bay. The hardest part was trying to stay clean and dry it was almost impossible. I carried all my gear 11-15kg depending on supplies. Whilst site camping with every 4th day in a hotel. Anyway i want to thank you and if you ever doubt about making videos dont they do have a direct impact.( I can give you my instagram if yo want to see some pics im starting to upload now)

Well done on completing it and carrying your gear, you must be feeling so proud - I know I was! It's great to hear your feedback and it's responses like this that make it worth all the effort! @@mattwalkwild6784 my friend and I are very much enjoying walking the South West Coast Path. It is relatively hilly in many areas but never too much. Extremely beautiful, remote and wild many places, lush nature, birds, bees, butterflies, seal spotting (and the occational herd of bovine...) and the always changing tides. We absolutely love it and will get back to do more sections once it is safe to travel (we are from Norway). We aim for finishing the whole path but firstly we'll finish the Cornwall part of it. 👍😍 We have so far walked from Westward Ho! to Penzance.

      @@TravellingTorunn Wow it sounds absolutely fantastic, and very similar to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. It is a very long path so I don't blame you for not completing it all in one go! how did you find it for resupplies? Plenty of shops on the way? One thing I’m stuck on is how I’m going to keep my phone charged, did you solar it or stop along the way?

      @@thewelshnomad7094 I actually have a video coming out this week which is going to be a detailed travel guide on how to walk the trail. Will provide lots moe info! Resupply is difficult. Only 3 places I was able to resupply (Pembroke, Milford Haven, Broad Haven) bought about 4 days worth of food each time. I use a portable charger for my phone - find solar is too expensive and inefficient. Every couple days I’d go in a pub or cafe to charge all my equipment up! Hope that helps 👍🏼

      It can be tough and that is certainly one of the challenges of the hike. It really depends what area you aim for. Some places there are lots of cafes and towns you pass which make it easy. Other times you only pass farmers fields and the occasional campsite. I recommend brining a water filter just in case you can't find a clean tap to drink from.
