I got a some mica board on amazon for $5. Traced the old one and cut a new piece. Working like a charm!
What a money saver!! All I had to do was take the plate off and clean it with some water on a hand towel literally my old microwave is back to life ⚡️💡🔌
Hey Phatkat, thanx so much for the great advice!Out of nowhere after working fine for years my oven started sparking, popped off the mica board as you advised and cleaned it with regular soap and water to get the gunk and flash marks off it, reassembled it and good as new!!Saved me the price of a new oven, thanks friend.

Thanks for the advice., what I did with mine just turned the piece upside down cleaned it and drilled a hole to hold it back in place so far is working
Thankyou for sharing. Just fixed my microwave for $7. I found wave cover board online through Amazon and all I had to do was cut to size and drill a couple of holes in it.

I had this problem I just cleaned the card with only water and let it to dry and everything was just fine

I took out the mica sheet, cleaned the side with the burn mark, then put it back in, but with the previously exposed side being now on the opposite unexposed side. Worked for many years.
Me too, and it worked! Like you I had to turn it around. Whoot!

You scored the rivot with an exactor knife to rethread it? My micro is a Sunbeam also, and it has two rivots. Trying to figure out how to put those back.

HI, this is helpful, however, before I tried the mica board, I need to know if my microwave isn't actually damaged. I put a coconut oil jar, not much oil left in the micro wave to heat, then the spark started, not sure what happened, put back in, it started to see fire. How do I know if my microwave is fixable with mica board? Does anyone know if the glass coconut oil jar have metal or tinfoil in it? I got it in walmart, spring valley brand Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. Perhaps the label with plastic cover cause the burnt? or the bar code has tinfoil or metal in it? the entrance of the mica board is kind of blackish because of the fire. Is it safe to just change the mica board in my case? My microwave is also a very old GE model , I got it 2nd hand 12 years ago, that means its a good one. I really don't want to buy the modern version microwave because they are not built as good as the old one. If someone has knowledge about my case, really appreciate to reply to me soon. I haven't had microwave for a few days now. Thanks.
Man just put in a 3 dollar piece of mica board and try it. If that doesnt work throw it away and buy a new wave

There is no fix for the issue I had. An actual hole rusted through in the carousel track. Because instead of the interior being enameled it was cheaply painted and the paint wore off. Anyway, it arced like a welder and just burned the floor out of the microwave. I replaced it promptly.

Our board had a small HOLE in the middle of it...and when I scratched the BACK of the board with a £1 coin (as per another video on UA-cam), some “skin” of it fell off...
...so I got CREATIVE...and used “UHU” glue to stick some of that discarded “skin” on to the HOLE to cover that hole...and put the board back in...and...our Microwave stopped sparking!

LOL, sparking fixes it, yeah for sure, its very bad for a microwave sparking, it kills them and the magnatron that drives the microwave. You are not in damger but the microwave is from eating itself.
