Excellent demo! I bought one immediately and then hopped over here.
I think you nailed it regarding what Tefi Vintage Labs specializes in - finding a specific sound that is amazing (subjectively), and manipulating it in all the most musical ways. Definitely resonates with a lot of players, and I'm one of them.

Oh my Lo-Fi Goodness, that was an great demo and what an amazing vibe to that pedal. I definitely want one of these babies. And thanks Ryan for demoing so many pedals that not a lot of other people are putting up on UA-cam or other platforms, you are awesome ! ❤

The title of this video has so many trigger words in it that make me click. And of course, Ryan delivers the goods perfectly as always.

I'd love to try this out paired with my DOD Rubberneck. Could go from slapback wobbles to awesome noisy soundscapes

I don't know why i never bought the original Golden Era and i'm still kicking myself for that. This Malinconia sounds cool. I will use it in the effect loop of my Vongon Polyphrase

Because it was always sold out and if it wasnt, it was still overly expensive.

    I love it! 🧡
One question though: this is not the first low-fi pedal you’ve demoed. Your demos always start with a beautiful little piece of music in which you use the pedal you’re demonstrating. Here’s the thing…, my brain tells me it would make sense to record music and then add the effect afterwards, depending on which kind of low-fi effect you’re using, because when you’re trying to emulate the sound of an old record, then the effect would affect all instruments in the exact same manner, wouldn’t it? Of course when you would want to emulate the hiss and warbling sounds of an old tape echo, you could use such an effect on every single instrument, although (here comes my rational reasoning brain again)… I don’t think there’s ever been one producer who would use a faulty, noise creating echo device on every single instrument for a band recording session.
I just want to know your take on this. How do you usually approach these things? I ask because I find it interesting. Firstly, I like what you do and how you do it, because it sounds cool. Besides, why shouldn’t you use everything you can find? You have the freedom to create and nobody’s forcing you to emulate anything. But that’s one side of my brain telling me I can do whatever I want to do.
But there’s the more rational side of my brain… I’m sure you’re familiar with the Fairfield Circuitry Shallow Water. When I heard that pedal for the first time I had to have it. But I want all the instruments, including vocals, to go through the pedal AFTER everything has been recorded. I just haven’t figured out how to do it yet. The idea is to have everything affected by these random wobbles at the same time, otherwise it would be silly I think. Especially to have a low-fi recording with unaffected crystal clear vocals on top of it.
Again, I just like to know how you think about these things. Is it something you think about at all? 😊
I’m sorry, I just realised this is a long and silly question. 🫣

You have to understand, these are guitar effects pedals, meant for guitarists to add a lo fi quality to their guitar sounds. What you are talking about is a recording production thing. If you want to make entire mixed recordings sound like a warped record or hissy tape or whatever, you should be looking at one the many lo fi plugins that you can get for a DAW. That way, it can be applied to all your tracks at once, and in stereo.

@@darwinsaye : You are right and I absolutely know what you mean. It’s just that I think the Shallow Waters has something unique that I haven’t really heard in any plugin. Thanks for your input. I appreciate it. 😊👍

hey! sorry for the late reply. i am a HUGE advocate for re-amping and putting pedals in a mix bus. on this track in particular, there were some native instruments pieces that i obviously can't run out to a pedal, so i re-amped. as noted above, there are certainly plugins that can achieve a lot of the sounds, but sometimes you find yourself going for a specific sound from a pedal and you should!
i have a friend who works as an engineer/producer in LA and one of his favorite vocal compressors is a fuzz pedal with the gain rolled all the way off.
EXPERIMENT! HAVE FUN! THERE ARE NO RULES!
