(Does anybody know why his instrument is open? because of the recording?)
I use to think, that the clavicord has the sickest sound, - but this sounds fresh, very sweet and actually charming.... and what an energy Gulda could give.
11 years later, hope you are still alive. I prefer the sound of this clavicord over harpsichord. Surprisingly, clavicords are more like a piano, where you hamer the string rather pluck them like on the harpsichord. Nevertheless, it sounds more electric to me. Maybe the smaller board is the reason?
he was a real artist and a true genius! i was on his concert, where he took off his pants and danced naked for 40 minutes! when half of the hall left, he started a real concert and played all the beethoven and mozart sonatas in one night! it was incredible and i will never forget it.
The Fugue sounded rather unexpected and estranged. I believe Friedrich Gulda managed to combine freedom of interpretation with delicacy of approach, as well as tranquility of intonation.
Why does such a master of the keyboard use such an unsympathetic and historically incorrect instrument for Bach? Clavichords of Bach's time were double strung, the sound quality of this one is diminished because of the non historic stringing.
What brilliance on Clavichord. Truly a keyboard master, and legendary performer.
Egal, auf welchem Instrument auch immer ... BACH!

So delicate and fresh playing.
I wish I were sitting there listening to this master.
GRANDE GRANDE IMMENSO GULDA!!
Wunderbar ❤
Genie! Absolut perfekt!!! Herzliche Dank
Gulda was a piano genius
Gulda was a master pianist.

@@togeka6295 He died in January 2000 (heart disease) ...
@@mandrael I meant the person I commented to.

Maestro!! Gulda revive Bach on this interpretations!!
beautiful vibrato
grande interprete geniale
*This* is what Bach should sound like.
That's underestimating the role of interpreters and the ability of Bach's work to accommodate different interpretations.
The 60s hit this guy like a ton of bricks.

This is my favourite interpretation of this fugue in C major... even more than the Gould one
Someone should do a kickstarter to revive this kickass instrument
it would be too expensive for the average person.
@@MegaMech If it were mass produced it would be way cheaper than a piano. In fact, it was used in the past as a cheaper, more portable keyboard.
Un grand Maestro !!!!
Maestro you are great... Thanks for upload...
assolutamente unico....ciao maestro
Meraviglioso!
Bravooooooo, thank You for upload!!
Mesmerizing!
Is it physically possible? I mean, 32 Beethoven's sonatas plus 18 of Mozart? In one night only?
Amazing!
Do you have more of this concert?
Is this Clavichord amplified using microphones or using (guittar) pickups? (like a Clavinet)
Yes! He elaborates on it here:

does someone know who's the maker of this clavichord?
really?? where and when did it happen? unfortunatelly I have never seen him live!
How did you get that sound for the clavichord?
wow!!!!! Grazie
i just wonder how he did not guess to lead it through a wah-wah and play it with his foot? Would have been awesome!
Artificial echo? Are getting confused with his vibrato? He doesn't use any artificial echo.

Di una bellezza quasi insostenibile. Quasi, mi raccomando.
BRAVOOO
is that a clavichord?
@@arqimusiq I think its a clavichord

I know he was an anti-conformist!...but this going too far
niklakis lakis when one seems to have gone too far it's just becaise he hasn't gone enough far. John Coltrane
Gulda was not a piano player, he was a clown.
Are you kidding me?
NO, I am serious.
The two things aren't mutually exclusive. Evidence suggests Mozart was a weirdo in his day...
This is true.
Martin Möller you arr a clown
Un grand Maestro !!!
