Anyone else want Don to work on their truck as well?!? Lol Great channel Don, I added two of the light mods you did (Auto fog and Bed/cargo) to my ‘17 Denali that work perfectly! Keep doing what you do!
First, does Don ‘WANT’ to work on other people’s trucks? 😂 I will keep doing these videos if people enjoy them. Hitting like 👍🏼 makes a big difference too and helps the channel support more content. Your feedback is valued, thank you!
This was really interesting, and timely. I've been wondering if I put in a new, larger cold intake on the new vehicle I anticipate getting in 2024, and an escalade is one of the vehicles I am considering, if that might help with average mpg and how much. Watching your video, not just interesting, but I loved your wife's little comments here and there, oh it's got it's own little house, Lol. She's good looking, but she's also fun, you guys seem like a great couple. Now that a year has gone by, can you share if and how much this might have helped average mpg? Other things you liked or didn't? Thanks. Now, on a different topic, if you know: Do you think a new Escalade Sport Platinum could be lifted maybe 2"'s, and have larger tires, thicker rubber sidewalls anyway, put on them, maybe a little poke of an offset? And could that lift be done without screwing up the adjustable air ride suspension? Would doing so increase the minimum road clearance height too? The lift is more important to me than the poke, I really just wish I could get a bit more road clearance, and ideally have the adjustable air ride suspension rise along with it, so maybe instead of ranging from 8" to 9", to 10" in 4L, maybe it could range from 10" to 11", to 12" in 4L?
Great channel Don, Really enjoying all the videos. Great info. I purchase a 23 Escalade with 6.2. Just installed S&B cai yesterday. Im surprised how loud intake is a low RPM's. Not sure if sound is good or bad. Thinking maybe CAI product a bit less noisy. Since you have both thought I would ask? thanks again for all your good work.
The S&B is much louder than the Cold Air Indictions at all RPM’s. The S&B has an optional runner port cover that you can leave in place. That makes it a bit quieter. That might be how you already have it though.
I have the plug in place now. Was thinking pulling it out for fun. Just dont want hot engine air being pulled into box. I am impressed with S&B quality, It feels OEM.
Love your channel and I have a question. What do you find as a better product...the Cold Air Induction system on the Cadi or the S & B cold air system you installed on the AT4? I want to install one of these on my 6.2Ltr Trail Boss.
That’s a loaded question. The truth is both but for different reasons. S&B is louder and more aggressive with a couple options to remove a breathing port whereas the CAI uses half of the OEM system and is sealed but quieter. Both perform well in my opinion
I have a question. I just recently put a call intake after watching your video and I lost a whole bunch of gas mileage. I was told that I should do a tuneup on it. Did you experience that?
We never seen a drop in fuel economy. Did you disconnect the battery for 2 hours during the install and turn off your air filter life monitor? Second, I would check all of the fittings to ensure there are no air leaks.
@@KevinHamel-k1t the instructions from the manufacturer insist your disable the filter monitor. (As in turn it off). If they missed that step, my guess is they didn’t disconnect the battery for a full 2 hours to clear any air/fuel data from the last intake. You want your vehicle’s ECU to relearn and adapt to the new airflow.
There are laws to protect consumers against this voiding warranty, unless it can be proven it damaged or caused a part that is normally under warranty to fail.
You seem to be good with cars, I thought to return and ask you a question I have been struggling to find the answer to. Maybe you know the answer? The GMC Yukon Denali and Yukon AT4 both advertise having "Active Response 4 wheel drive", while the Escalade does not advertise having that. Though all do or can have 2H, 4H, 4L and Auto, But since they are all GM, and the same base vehicle, do you know, does the Escalade have that same active response 4 wheel drive functionality/capability but perhaps just doesn't call it that due to being Cadillac and not GMC? And if not, might that cause the Escalade to not handle the bad snowstorms quite as well? Thanks. And again, you two look like such a good couple.
Hi Don. Is this air filter oiled or not? I have this on my 22 ZR2 and I noticed an air filter cleaning kit which has cleaner and oil on the website. I never oiled mine. Is it required?
Mine is oiled, so when I clean it, yes I’ll need to get an oil kit to re-oil it. Or you can try and buy the dry version when the one you have gets too dirty then just keep replacing.
Is that like a k&n style like spray oil it to catch dust? I had a k&n one time could see full holes thru it and could see it letting dust thru. I will never use that style of filter again. Stick with paper filter with more surface area. Hope you have good luck with yours.
@@Donslife production starts mid July! If you are ok with not having Super cruise and automatic rear window roll ups, you can expect it before the end of the year(can't be retrofitted). Personally, if I'm spending that type of money, I'm choosing to wait until those are available but will be waiting over a year minimum my dealership told me. Before the end of this month, you can place your order and find out allocation details. Just left deciding between radiant red tincoat or dark emerald metallic for the exterior color. This SUV is my farewell to ICE, number 2 on their list, super excited!
It is a fair question. My experience on both the AT4 and Escalade 6.2 is yes. Deleting the factory resonator allows for a more noticeable intake tone. Throttle response improves a bit too. Is it worth a few hundred dollars to everyone, that is subjective.
Respectfully, both will…A pedal commander or equivalent device will electronically adjust the throttle position sensor settings and make the pedal depression more sensitive. A well engineered cold air intake will also improve throttle response by enhancing combustion.
@@Donslife best to have both. But IF i were have to choose one, id go for Pedal Commander. I put K&N cold air intake and P.Commander on my 2020 Escalade ESV.
Warranty is not voided. Dealer actually performed service with the intake in place. As for the wrap I disagree l, but if it makes you feel better it was a new product I was testing. A new color is coming soon to replace it
Wrap is being replaced. It was a new material to the market. What are you talking about with car pictures on the wall? I am a 12yr old with a 40 something yr old body
What a waste! That K&N filter will just blow in more junk in your engine! Due to the lubricant on that filter it will collect more dust and debris in its layers and send them further in the engine!Forget about gaining 5-10 extra hp, not only you wont gain anything, but also be sure to spend a good chunk of money on a engine repair.
Nice mod but I hate to be the one to remind everyone that a CAI only changes sound nothing else. If a CAI improved HP or Mileage you don't think the OEMs would install them during production? Watch the scientific testing of any CAI, its proven over and over again. A tune is the best bang for the buck to increase HP and drivability.

Do a follow-up video on why the check engine light came on after your road trip. Was it the cold air intake???
It is being edited today. Hoping to get it out before the weekend
