I have a 2022 Tucson with a tire repair kit. I replaced it with a winter tire in the summer and a summer tire in the winter. Yes there's space. Hopefully I don't get a flat but if I do. I have a full size not a tiny donut as a replacement. Plus many new vehicles offer road side assistance. So swapping out is easy.

Porsche does have some reliability issues as well. The 8 speed(non-pdk of course) in the cayenne, the Macan has transfer case issues, along with timing cover leaks(95B.1 specific). So yes, a lot of car manufacturers do have problems that come up. It's how they(manufacturers) respond to these problems, that customers appreciate or shy away from their loyalty.

Zack, about the Porsche battery, I have a 2015 Macan S, bought new almost 10 years ago. I started to wonder why the battery hasn't failed yet. Can't believe a battery can last this long, but $400 for 10 years is pretty good. Great content as usual, I think that since vw got rid of the tdi even though they were always lit up like a Christmas tree they were probably their best engines and would still run forever, so for me I think anything since then has been so poor in reliability I’d never get another
With Audi, it’s not just the EVs causing the poor reliability scores. I have a 2012 Audi Q5 with low mileage for its age. At about 70k miles, it started consuming oil. That’s when I learned it’s a known issue for that engine, and there was a class action lawsuit on it (and there was a separate suit/settlement for its predecessor). Its $10k to fix it, which is more than my Q5 is worth. So instead I have to add oil every 400-500 miles. There is also a class action lawsuit regarding the timing chain, though I haven’t had an issue with that (yet) personally. But it definitely is fun to drive! That said, I don’t plan to buy another one because of the reliability issues.
This is kind of what they were talking about… Audi\VW could make the most reliable cars now and no one would believe it because they had problems with their 2012. I had Audi Q5 2013. At 100,000 km it was consuming 1L a week! I also had constant EPC signals but there was nothing wrong with the car. EPC limits the RPM to 4,000 and slows down the car. I therefore had to erase that EPC with a diagnostic tool at traffic stops and even while driving.

I understand everything is subjective but I don’t understand the constant “CX50 seats aren’t comfortable “. They are firm, no doubt, but they are supportive and I’m 6’ and once you find the comfortable position (like in any car) it’s fine, including long trips.

So, what would you recommend I look at. I want enough room to store my golf clubs and luggage. I want AWD. I like cars that can get out of their own way. Inside ergonomics and style is very important. Help! 20:32
On the Audi/VW reliability question, I think that the fact they moved production to Mexico also contributed to poorer quality scores. I would definitely not pay top dollars for something made there.
I have to agree with Andrea when it comes to one’s personal criteria for choosing a car. It seems that reliability is nothing but a buzzword in our society today. Everyone wants a reliable vehicle regardless of what it is but I’d rather buy a vehicle that gives me joy to drive it. Something that makes every trip I take in it fun and exciting. Something that’s look good and appeals to one’s own personal sense of style. Now, if that vehicle happens to be a RAV4 Hybrid or a Camry, great. No judgement. But to me, they just don’t excite me. They’re appliances. I’d rather take a chance and by a vehicle that’s fun and exciting that I hope will be a good ownership experience than putter around in a car with a reputation for something that is known for reliability as its main selling point. There are many cars that are reliable today. The best that anyone can do is to buy what you really want and enjoy it and not because a manufacturer uses “relaibilty” as a selling tool.
Run flat tires are GREAT - no need to change tire - can drive for 50 miles on totally flat tire - I even had a shredded tire and had no problem driving to the tire store to replace the whole tire - wonderful invention.
All these manufacturers have been building cars for a long time. So why is it so hard for them to build reliable lasting cars. Vw has been doing business forever at this point, so what’s the problem.

My 2024 Subaru Forester Wilderness has a real spare tire …
Complaining about the battery price? My 2017 Mazda 3 GT Tech needed a battery replacement for the first time last october, $500. To be clear, not the i-eloop battery...
I understand everything is subjective but I don’t understand the constant “CX50 seats aren’t comfortable “. They are firm, no doubt, but they are supportive and I’m 6’ and once you find the comfortable position (like in any car) it’s fine, including long trips.
Short seat cushion, no thigh support.
FINALLY and answer to the intro person's voice.
I’m 69 years young. I plan on being in full work mode for at least 4 more years. I want a new car that can carry me for a long time. Some new car prices are ridiculous. So, what would you recommend I look at. I want enough room to store my golf clubs and luggage. I want AWD. I like cars that can get out of their own way. Inside ergonomics and style is very important. Help! 20:32
RAV4 nice car, but dealers at $7,000 in add one…joke.
On the Audi/VW reliability question, I think that the fact they moved production to Mexico also contributed to poorer quality scores. I would definitely not pay top dollars for something made there.
You'd think the cx50 hybrid would be the perfect blend for drea and zack
Wait? THE David Kaye of Beast Wars? Holy smokes...
Spare tires are being traded for unneeded, not legally required, nanny safety devices on vehicles with unsafe, super-sized touch screens.
You guys are sitting in your mainline SUV choice. Cayenne lol.
Our 24 CORSAIR GRAND TOURING came with a spare tire .
Mazda CX 5 redesign us coming soon!
probably will be eliminated since they have the fat CX-50
The civic hybrid I refuse to buy. No spare tyre/ donut
You're always talking about the cars you have. How many cars do you have that you own or lease?
We own two Cayenne's, a GTI, Civic and our newest addition an MX-5.
No spare tire is about more profit 🙂
whatever car company can save $$$ on.
Run flat tires are GREAT - no need to change tire - can drive for 50 miles on totally flat tire - I even had a shredded tire and had no problem driving to the tire store to replace the whole tire - wonderful invention.
Too bad Toyota didn’t want to do that with the Crown signia lol
And a real dipstick. The Euro cars have neither. They have run flat, tires. The inflation kit and slime is a waste.
They figured enough people are dipsticks anyway no need to add one to the car.
Not giving a spare tire for the excuse of car weight and fuel economy is nothing but an excuse for cost-cutting by car manufacturers.
All these manufacturers have been building cars for a long time. So why is it so hard for them to build reliable lasting cars. Vw has been doing business forever at this point, so what’s the problem.
Cars now are computers on wheels. Do you expect your laptop to last for ten years?
@ they of course improve but they should still last.
No spare tire is an absolute deal breaker for me, ask me why?? Stranded at 3am waited 4 hours for a tow in the snow with sidewall damage from a pothole !!!!
