Porsche does have some reliability issues as well. The 8 speed(non-pdk of course) in the cayenne, the Macan has transfer case issues, along with timing cover leaks(95B.1 specific). So yes, a lot of car manufacturers do have problems that come up. It's how they(manufacturers) respond to these problems, that customers appreciate or shy away from their loyalty.

I'm with Andrea regarding Mazda. Traded my 2017 Mazda 3 for a 2025 CX-5 signature. Love it! Actually get decent mpg too if I stay off the turbo boost. Always look forward to your show! Happy New Year!
The spare ture on my PriusC saved me one night at 11 pm. Hit an obstacle, tire blew. Thus was in Mexico. Roadside assistance not available. Good samaritan came and put on my spare, allowing me to drive home. I say never without a spare, even if I can't change it myself.
As owners of a 2022 Civic sport touring hatchback. And a 2025 Camry SE. Hers & His. I can tell you unequivocally. The Civic is way more fun to drive. Even with the 1.5T. The Camry is more comfortable and quieter.
I have to agree with Andrea when it comes to one’s personal criteria for choosing a car. It seems that reliability is nothing but a buzzword in our society today. Everyone wants a reliable vehicle regardless of what it is but I’d rather buy a vehicle that gives me joy to drive it. Something that makes every trip I take in it fun and exciting. Something that’s look good and appeals to one’s own personal sense of style. Now, if that vehicle happens to be a RAV4 Hybrid or a Camry, great. No judgement. But to me, they just don’t excite me. They’re appliances. I’d rather take a chance and by a vehicle that’s fun and exciting that I hope will be a good ownership experience than putter around in a car with a reputation for something that is known for reliability as its main selling point. There are many cars that are reliable today. The best that anyone can do is to buy what you really want and enjoy it and not because a manufacturer uses “relaibilty” as a selling tool.
With Audi, it’s not just the EVs causing the poor reliability scores. I have a 2012 Audi Q5 with low mileage for its age. At about 70k miles, it started consuming oil. That’s when I learned it’s a known issue for that engine, and there was a class action lawsuit on it (and there was a separate suit/settlement for its predecessor). Its $10k to fix it, which is more than my Q5 is worth. So instead I have to add oil every 400-500 miles. There is also a class action lawsuit regarding the timing chain, though I haven’t had an issue with that (yet) personally. But it definitely is fun to drive! That said, I don’t plan to buy another one because of the reliability issues.
This is kind of what they were talking about… Audi\VW could make the most reliable cars now and no one would believe it because they had problems with their 2012. I’ve had 5 VWs since 1998 and have had very few issues. Every car being sold now is reliable, the best are super reliable and the worst are very reliable, compared to cars 20 years ago.
I had Audi Q5 2013. At 100,000 km it was consuming 1L a week! I also had constant EPC signals but there was nothing wrong with the car. EPC limits the RPM to 4,000 and slows down the car. I therefore had to erase that EPC with a diagnostic tool at traffic stops and even while driving.
@@martinn4186exactly, it’s a matter of degree. For instance, according to the JD Power Reliability Survey of verified owners, a Volkswagen is likely to have about one more reliability issue than industry leader Lexus, in the third year of ownership. Big deal.

48 vs 46 mpg. What was the methodology? Were the routes and time of year the same? Coincidentally, my 2007 Prius FWD got 46 miles per gallon lifetime (8 years), with a spare.
On my Prius I had to change my flat tires 5 times, over 20,000 miles and 24 months. If I had no spare, I’d be replacing tires like cough drops for I’ve heard the gunk from cans of tire inflators complicates tire repair.

Zack, about the Porsche battery, I have a 2015 Macan S, bought new almost 10 years ago. I started to wonder why the battery hasn't failed yet. Can't believe a battery can last this long, but $400 for 10 years is pretty good. The only way I know the battery is "declining" is the radio turns off on its own sooner and sooner when listening without the motor running.
