That show actually knows how to write characters and character development. Until the art style gets too cutesy (the specialists look like their younger brothers in that art style!).
I can only presume she didn't admit her feelings because she hadn't been friends with Snapdragon long enough to feel comfortable talking about it. To me, the scene reads like her blushing was "intended" to mean yes, but she denied it out of embarrassment.
What even is "time" in this show, anyway? You know, aside from that which was wasted in this episode? For all we know, this only happened days after the first episode. I dunno, maybe that's just me? :/
@@bluestreaker9242 I can only speak from experience. I never told friends about my crushes in school, and the girls in my friend group didn't confide in me if they had a crush on someone we both knew. I feel it really comes down to how much do you trust someone. Considering how Snapdragon and Sage have a rocky friendship up to this point, it seems fair to me that she's not comfortable with that yet. You could also read it as Sage might have the idea that he likes her, and doesn't want to hurt his feelings. Idk, I'm just spit balling at this point.
Also, I just realized something: not only could they have just done the messed up memory spell thing early, but it could've helped segwayed into the things the characters talked about in this episode & more; Sage could have certain reactions to memories of Rosemary & therefore get Snap to pop the question on whether or not Sage likes Rose, Rose could get to know Amaryllis more & lead to comedic moments between her & Am, & Amaryllis and Sage could look back at memories they had with their respective bffs that can help them realize that "jeez, we've been b!tches to our besties!" So much missed potential!
So I've never seen high guardian spice but a friend denying they have a crush on another friend (whether they be talking to said friend or someone else) is something I've done and have seen other people do, the reason for denying you have that type of crush is because it often feels embarrassing to admit (hence the blushing) it's like admitting to a big secret you didn't want anyone to know because you're worried you'll get made fun of
If I had to give the best explanation for Sage's Response to having a Crush on Rosemary, the Delivery and the Pause after tells me "I never really asked myself that question before" or "I need more time to figure that out." It's possible that Romantic Feelings for Rosemary are there, Sage just needed more time to process. Time that unfortunately, the Show didn't really give her. Or anyone. Personally, I enjoy HGS as a Guilty Pleasure, and I really love Fantasy/Medieval Settings and Character Designs. It could be better in a lot of areas, but for me, the show's a 6/10.
Again I find myself asking how is it possible for a 12-episode series that is not based on any material that they had to wait to catch up for to have filler episodes?
Apparently, if some sources are to be believed, the demon teacher... is actually a dragon. So that's why the demon deal was done... but it doesn't help that her design screams devil lady which just makes you question why not make her an actual demon or something that actually looks like a dragon, or at least having Rosemary interested in her if she's a dragon nerd. I can't believe I have to say this, but even when defending a plot point in this show, you will find like five or more wrong things.
She can still casually teleport wherever she wants, so even if she is not a demon (I mean come on, she screams demon lady) she was still shown to teleport herself and other people with her magic.
Y'know this just made me realize that this is more of a reason why I'm sick of a lot of anime these days regulating themselves to only 12 episodes. It means less time to waste in fleshing these characters and story out. Not that having a 20-24 episode run would improve HGS. It was doomed from the start for plenty of reasons, some I've covered in previous videos but still, only having 12 for this first season still did a number on it. 1:33 You're telling me that's the best method they can think of for long range communication? No magic holograms like in some fantasy stories? No crows that double as phones like in the Owl House? Or magic mirrors which are also common in fantasy stories? You summon a demon and give it something precious and provided you get lucky and it doesn't try to murder you first, then it lets you make a long distance call? I think these people may have overthought this. (Nah that's giving them too much credit) 5:20 And that kind of dialogue is what makes hillbillies think.....y'know what I'm not gonna go there. Oh god. That next one is going to be a doozy.
Man, I can’t wait for you to tear into the next episode. As a trans male, Snapdragon’s transitional journey is such a mess. They deserved so much better.
If there was an MST3K quote to best describe this show, it would be "They just didn't care." Why are there so many flagrant animation errors? They just didn't care. Why are none of the characters likeable? They just didn't care. Why do the voices sound so low energy? They just didn't care. Why are there more holes in each episode's plot than a blown up minefield? They just didn't care. Why is everything in the series highly derivitive without a single speck of originality? They just did not care!
Not only is this episode filler but it is a tutorial on what NOT to do when summoning a demon. The writers aren't smart enough to know that demons don't make deals. Devils do that. Thyme had no way of knowing that the demon would follow through on contacting her dad. It could have just killed & eaten both her and Parsley.
Rosemary deserves better than someone like how Sage acted. Also, the demon in Thyme's plot does look goofy, but I think his design is reminiscent of Gluttony from the Fullmetal Alchemist series.
Don’t know why thyme didn’t also go to any other students to see if they have there own healing water or the teachers who might have this stuff stored up considering that was the big task they have the students do every year or they failed them, so they ought to have a big stockpile of this stuff somewhere. Or you know just go back to the well through that hole that dragon made or just have the ethics demon teacher teleport her there.
I'm one of those weird people that actually likes filler episodes as long as they have character development and tell their own story. Plus, I love rainy days in cartoons - I WANTED to like this. But I had to pause the show every other line, because it was just that stupid 😂 Parnell's in particular...
5:59 its a very teenager thing. But the context is "I'm worried this fact will be used against me by the people around me to ether, make them hate each other or make them never get together or force them together unnaturally. This does not work here. Unless shes being considerate of snap dragons feelings. But why would she? I think it would be a smart to have her know and say what she said. It would be more interesting
Arent those demon summon rituals suppose to be "you summon the demon in the circle and trap it so you can negotiate with it" insted of basically trapping yourself and letting the demon go free and rampant while you are stuck in the circle
There are lots of people who don't like to admit their romantic feelings to themselves, let alone to other people. It opens up possibilities in their minds that they're afraid to confront. It's also very embarrassing because anyone who knows their feelings might start treating them differently, especially the person they're crushing on. This personality is done fairly commonly in kid stories. Because Sage seems to fit that bill, she would have to heavily trust Snapdragon before admitting her feelings about Rosemary, and even then, she'd have to admit them to herself first.
6:00 I think the gist of this is Sage being incapable of being honest with herself about her crush on Rosemary. That's a usual way to write tsunderes. Both good and bad. How well-written the tsundere in question is, depends on the writer and the context
the reason Sage doesn't jsut outright say she loves Rosemary to SnapDragon is despite them beign close friends it's still embarassing for her to admit her feelings even with trusted company, also they've only known eachother for maybe a few weeks/months
On the subject of the Demon Phone and New Magic, why can't she use New Magic to call her father? Or, if the excuse is that she isn't that good with magic, asking a friend to make the call? Because summoning a demon seems like a drastic step for a phone call
More writers need to understand Tsundere characters like Thyme aren't meant to be main characters, there meant to be side characters that show up and almost immortal get developed. A Tsundere character without developed and a bactstory is just a unpleasant brat that all the characters put up with because the plot says so. This is why I don't like characters such as Kyo from Fruit Basket.
@@sinanyldz8913 No I meant Thyme, A isn't a tsundere, tsundere are characters who are only tolerable after they get development and A is tolerable and funny how she is. Thyme is tsundere because the story makes it clear she struggles to open up which is 1 of the traits of a tsundere.
@@sinanyldz8913 Just to ensure we're on the same page A works because the people she is around are terrible people and or terribly written characters. It helps her stand out by being more direct about her feelings rather then having to stop and think about what she feels.
- Magic can apparently do anything except for long-distance communication. Well, unless you're Smoke Face...Is this telephone magic only exclusive to demonic entities?? (Oh yeah, that healing water vial made a withered flower revert to a healthy state. That's...the OPPOSITE of what it did to that dragon.) - Not sure what to make of the chat that Sage and Snapdragon apparently waited a week to have. Sage's issues with Rosemary's increased restlessness haven't been handled at all, and it suddenly becomes "well, maybe you just have a crush on her". Oh, and it doesn't seem to address Amaryllis's increased bossiness toward Snap from Ep8-9 - which was what actually made Snap upset, not Cal panicking over hitting on a guy he knew. (Also "father-daughter relationship"? Could Snap be any vaguer...? Hell, could this WHOLE SHOW be vaguer?!)
If they wanted to do the Summon a demon plot, here's what they should have done. Thyme summons it to learn if there's another way to stop the rot. The demon has an answer but won't tell her for her. His price, a heart of rare creature. Sage and the others convince her to not go through with it.
5:17 why couldn't they just say friends? The dialog feels like it's trying to be "stupid but it actullaly has a deeper meaning" and it's just fucking stupid
I just thought of something couldn't have Thyme just use New Magic to recreate the healing water as in this show New Magic is stated to do literally ANYTHING!
We're getting close to the end, I hope Enter can make some kind of extra video analyzing the series as a whole I why it failed on so many levels I think I mentioned earlier but man, this show seems like it was made in the early 2000s, like it was one of those shows that tried to copy the anime look because of Pokémon and Sailor Moon's popularity, it's incredible how bad I looks in various aspects, though there's a couple of nice animation here and there
Sage not admitting her crush is more meant to show she can't admit it to herself. She finds her feelings hard to grapple with and copes by pretending she doesn't feel them. At least that's normally how things like that work. With this show's... Tenuous grasp on how humans use language? Who knows.
Yeah, the Thyme subplot should've had her going to the ethics teacher (or using new magic) to communicate with her dad and just tell him the healing water is in that one location. If it's too dangerous for them to go back or something, then tell him. Everyone can figure out then what to do to get a lot.
New Magic could do anything, so they could have used New Magic to make more of that healing water. I mean, if memory serves, New Magic was causing the Rot (I think), but New Magic could have made more of that magical healing water.
Not saying this episode was good but I kinda liked it? Along with the last episode. I don’t really care if it doesn’t process the plot cause the plot sucks. I kinda just like the cozy, indoors cause it’s raining vibe this episode has Also, every Vivziepop show fan: 1:15
It's much worse than what you describe in the video. They send first year students to this well of healing water. Meaning if they can reach it, so can the teachers. Sage can fly. Jump on a broom, go to the healing well: done! There are portals in this show that have not a single restriction. Portal to the well at no cost and with no problems. Why is thyme so upset with losing one vial while there's a whole well full of HEALING WATER that ANYONE can reach? Their ethics teacher is a DEMON! Ask her for a trade, maybe? This story has so many holes, it identifies as Gouda cheese :(.
Thyme couldn't just walk to the Fairywoods because they mentioned earlier that it was a several day journey. This isn't a much better idea, but they at least give us a reason why she can't go there herself. Amaryllis' spellbook details that one of thr spells requires lizards to work, because "they are the rice of magic" due to ease of use. Given how Amaryllis acts, I thought she ONLY used New Magic, where "There Is No Cost", unless Sage just had a fundamental misunderstanding of how New Magic works. Snapdragon: "We have a father-daughter relationship". Sage: "Who's who?" Snapdragon: "I have no idea." The terrible analogy is made even worse by additional context. The editing is choppy. We have a shot of Amaryllis laying on the floor, then it jumpcuts to her standing up. Animation error: There's a scene in the library, right were Amaryllis and Rosemary announce they have solo projects to do, where we see a girl sitting in a chair, and her hands are positioned as if she's reading a book, holding one cover in each hand, but the book itself is actually closed. The memories given form by the spell seem to have some autonomy? They can talk to you? Interesting premise.
Wouldn’t brother-sister relationship be a better description for Snapdragon to use? Or just sibling relationship? From what we’ve seen of their dynamic it fits better and lacks the ick factor of father-daughter relationship since they’re the same age!
father: thyme how are you even talking to me right now? thyme: oh i summoned a demon to make a magic window father: YOU DID WHAT!? thyme: dont worry im not an idiot i put a salt circle around myself so the demon cant get to me father: so whats stopping the demon from running away and whats your plan if the demon doesnt go away? thyme: ...shit
I'm no romance expert or anything, but yeah it's not at all strange for a person with a crush to be uneasy about talking about it. It sometimes takes a lot of courage to even admit to yourself how you feel, especially if you already have a nonromantic relationship with the person, as a crush changes the dynamic in a lot of ways, and if it doesn't work out it could wreck what you already have. Even if it does work out, it could end with everything burnt to nothing (just look at a few divorcees and consider that they had once been deeply in love). Even after recognizing that the feeling's there, there's still all kinds of uncertainties. It takes a lot of courage, confidence, or at least certainty about how some things are going to go to actually talk to someone about it, even if you're sure that someone won't spill the secret and just wants to help. Drop the question on someone who's still figuring things out, and frankly the reaction shown is on the mild end.
To add to this, it can reasonably be assumed that the emotional maturity of everyone is involved is still very much in development. Everyone involved is likely to struggle to handle their own feelings or those of anyone else in a mature way, and will likely expect/fear that of each other. Being comfortable carrying on a friendship with someone after you realise your own feelings for them takes a certain level of emotional maturity. Otherwise you may be afraid to admit your feelings to yourself, since you may be afraid that a change in how you see the other person will interfere with your ability to remain friends with them. It also takes a certain level of emotional maturity to be able to carry on a friendship with someone unchanged after learning of their feelings for you. As a result there may be a fear that if your feelings for someone became known they'd feel uncomfortable continuing their friendship with you. The possibility of rejection is always scary even if it comes at an expected time (i.e. following an intended confession). Even scarier is the possibility of facing it at an unexpected time because word somehow got out, followed by the recipient of your feelings learning of them through means out of your control. Gossip spreads, and this is potentially juicy gossip. It's also potentially fuel for making fun of someone, as having it revealed can be very embarassing. On another note, even if you're friends with someone that doesn't necessarily mean you automatically fully trust all of your friends with everything that you could possibly trust someone with. You'll generally have reasons, often including how long you've been friends and/or what related secrets you already share, to only trust certain friends with specific secrets. It's not even a guarantee that you'll necessarily trust anyone with some secrets.
I tought i would hate this show after seeing some reviews found it on UA-cam binged it all in one day and has much has its wierd to say it i fucking loved it lol

Do you also think that parsleys voice is god-awful and hard to listen to, or is it just me?
Again, if you keep thinking on that point, it will lead you to at least 5 more things to get mad about@@brandonlyon730
(Nah that's giving them too much credit)
5:20 And that kind of dialogue is what makes hillbillies think.....y'know what I'm not gonna go there.
Oh god. That next one is going to be a doozy.
Man, I can’t wait for you to tear into the next episode. As a trans male, Snapdragon’s transitional journey is such a mess. They deserved so much better.
So the first new plant from world 2 of pvz2 is a badly handled trans character?

The devil... is a demon. All devils are demons, but not all demons are devils.
@@PhantomAarantulacorrect
@@PhantomAarantula well technically the devil Lucifer is an angel
Also she did the ritual wrong you're supposed to seal the demon inside the barrier not OUTSIDE for a reason.

Damn, this truly is sauceless Little Witch Academia
this show is like if you took all of the worst parts of anime and strung them together with all the worst parts of tunblr fanfiction
0:15 O god, He finally lost it.
1:09 That's a demon? That looks like a rejected design for a Dark Turtle from TMNT Fast Forward
Almost to the end. Two more episodes and you had seen a video series all the way through.
Rosemary deserves better than someone like how Sage acted. Also, the demon in Thyme's plot does look goofy, but I think his design is reminiscent of Gluttony from the Fullmetal Alchemist series.
That laugh alone at 00:14 was worth the whole review! 🤣👍
"This is the stoopidest shit I've ever seen in m'life"
I dunno why, but that line delivery really made me laugh 😆
That demon looks like Gluttony from Full Metal Alchemist and Grimace had a baby. Made a pact with a devil. And that baby grew up to be a Tiefling.
I just realized that the Demon looks like a bootleg Dragaux 💀
"if you only care about the plot in hgs you can skip this episode..."
I mean, is not that true to every episode?
6:00 I think the gist of this is Sage being incapable of being honest with herself about her crush on Rosemary.
That's a usual way to write tsunderes. Both good and bad. How well-written the tsundere in question is, depends on the writer and the context
Only two episodes left. Godspeed, Mr. Enter!
All this episode really did was showcase how backup friends happen to the audience.
I’m sorry to say this, but I literally cannot not stop thinking of the Among Us theme every time I hear the outro music to your vids
I genuinely think i have never heard Mr. Enter laugh until now.
😂💙
He seems like he enjoys making reviews vs when he started, less angry too and I'm happy for him. 😅🫶🏻
5:20 who is amerillus and how bad is it for this guy having a fatherly relationship with her.
This episode helped with my sleeping problem
Why did Tyme summon a demon to contact her father instead of sending him a letter?
the reason Sage doesn't jsut outright say she loves Rosemary to SnapDragon is despite them beign close friends it's still embarassing for her to admit her feelings even with trusted company, also they've only known eachother for maybe a few weeks/months
Why isn't her worst memory something to do with her mothers disappearance
On the subject of the Demon Phone and New Magic, why can't she use New Magic to call her father? Or, if the excuse is that she isn't that good with magic, asking a friend to make the call? Because summoning a demon seems like a drastic step for a phone call
Filler episodes in One Piece make more sense than this.
I think you meant amirilis or whatever
@@sinanyldz8913 No I meant Thyme, A isn't a tsundere, tsundere are characters who are only tolerable after they get development and A is tolerable and funny how she is. Thyme is tsundere because the story makes it clear she struggles to open up which is 1 of the traits of a tsundere.
@@lesterwilliamsjr649 but she's not really insufferable, at least not in context of the show
@@lesterwilliamsjr649actullaly, i kinda get what you mean now
@@sinanyldz8913 Just to ensure we're on the same page A works because the people she is around are terrible people and or terribly written characters.
That's...the OPPOSITE of what it did to that dragon.)
- Not sure what to make of the chat that Sage and Snapdragon apparently waited a week to have.
Why can't you just TAKE THE WATER TO THE FOREST!? HUH?"
The chibi demon looks the same as the normal demon.
I think Wolf from Kipo And The Age Of The Wonderbeasts is a better written stoic character than Thyme.
That Demon looks like a Minotaur
Cuteness does NOT tell you the level of threat a creature can be... just look at Kirby
I just thought of something couldn't have Thyme just use New Magic to recreate the healing water as in this show New Magic is stated to do literally ANYTHING!
We're getting close to the end, I hope Enter can make some kind of extra video analyzing the series as a whole I why it failed on so many levels
I think I mentioned earlier but man, this show seems like it was made in the early 2000s, like it was one of those shows that tried to copy the anime look because of Pokémon and Sailor Moon's popularity, it's incredible how bad I looks in various aspects, though there's a couple of nice animation here and there
Countless videos all building up to this review very worth the wait
“High Guardian Spice is a Complete Waste of time”
You just found out?
Sage not admitting her crush is more meant to show she can't admit it to herself. She finds her feelings hard to grapple with and copes by pretending she doesn't feel them. At least that's normally how things like that work.
With this show's... Tenuous grasp on how humans use language? Who knows.
Me to Mr enter after seeing that last clip:get out of there!! Said in the way it was said in that scene of star trek 6.
Yeah, the Thyme subplot should've had her going to the ethics teacher (or using new magic) to communicate with her dad and just tell him the healing water is in that one location. If it's too dangerous for them to go back or something, then tell him. Everyone can figure out then what to do to get a lot.
Im baffed at how it took years for high guardian spice to be made and yet it turned out looking this bad.
Ape escape’s soundtrack is so underrated
New Magic could do anything, so they could have used New Magic to make more of that healing water. I mean, if memory serves, New Magic was causing the Rot (I think), but New Magic could have made more of that magical healing water.
Eggman: Sage, what is wrong with you? Why are you blue?
Not saying this episode was good but I kinda liked it? Along with the last episode. I don’t really care if it doesn’t process the plot cause the plot sucks. I kinda just like the cozy, indoors cause it’s raining vibe this episode has
Also, every Vivziepop show fan: 1:15
2:55 Yeah, I noticed that too.
I remember this episode now. Had this been episode 4 (with the previous two being 2 & 3) the series might be reviewed more favorably. Less poorly?
Double the spice in one week. Nice. Well, maybe not for you.
They stole money from Japanese studios.
It's no surprise it was going to be trash
Sage: "Who's who?"
Snapdragon: "I have no idea."
The terrible analogy is made even worse by additional context.
From what we’ve seen of their dynamic it fits better and lacks the ick factor of father-daughter relationship since they’re the same age!
father: thyme how are you even talking to me right now?
thyme: oh i summoned a demon to make a magic window
father: YOU DID WHAT!?
thyme: dont worry im not an idiot i put a salt circle around myself so the demon cant get to me
father: so whats stopping the demon from running away and whats your plan if the demon doesnt go away?
thyme: ...shit
Muscle Man: You know who else is a Waste of Time? MY MOM!!
You got that part right.
I thought you added the Pokéball sounds. :(
I genuinely thought that "pokeball" sound was edited in to make a joke!😅
I tought i would hate this show after seeing some reviews found it on UA-cam binged it all in one day and has much has its wierd to say it i fucking loved it lol
Since I never saw the show, filler episodes have very little effect on what I feel.
