This is one of my favorite things about Blind Wave. Especially their overall positivity with all Star Wars content. I almost didn't watch Rebels because of how much everyone was hating on it. It was thanks to Blind Wave that I watched the show with an open mind, and ended up LOVING it! (Not to excuse a show/movie that might be terribly written, but sometimes what makes a show great, is overshadowed by minor flaws. Rebels was for a younger audience and the animation was odd at times, but beneath it was SO much lore, found-family dynamics, and lovable characters). Rebels is still one of my favorites to this day.
I watched Rebels first and then saw BW’s reactions and I absolutely adored the show and also their positivity towards the show, yeah there were minor issues but overall the show exceeded any expectations I had. Yet as soon as I finished it and tried to dive deeper into the rest of the fandom, I just saw such unrequited negativity all over that I was glad I never delved into the larger fandom prior to watching
one day you're going to dislike a show or film because you didn't like the story or characters, etc. And you'll be called toxic by those that love the show/film.
It's crazy, in an episode where Thrawn makes his grand entrance, Baylan manages to make me even more nervous about what he's up to. Perhaps they flee a power greater than their own. Something calls to me, can't you hear it? Something stirs here, can't you see it? The Greatmothers called Morgan there, wtf called Baylan here!?
The Son. Because if you pause it after shin looks out at the rocks you can see a strange bat like creature flying away from the rocks it was sitting on. Edit: the enemy the nightsisters could be afraid of could be the Grysk. That would be a common enemy that they share.
@@overland1178 The daughter also died and still lived on as that owl, kind of looking over Ahsoka, so it could be that the son is also alive but in his "animal" form. Nice theory, I think it's more likely than Abeloth
The bonus reaction at 21:31 has me DYING. I legit CACKLED and almost scared the cat out of my lap. “SHOW ME HIS FACE IT’S SO PRETTY” is giving me LIFE.
I love how Thrawns army has parrallels to the eastern roman empire. They kept on going while the Western Roman Empire fell. Also the damaged Armor is repaired with Golden seems like in the Japanese style called kintsugi to reflect how the empire is fractured but not broken. Also did anyone notice how the captions call Thrawns troops "Night Troopers" which could mean they're all resurrected by nigh sister magic.
I think the stormtroopers with taped up armour are alive, because Thrawn later says they can’t risk sending more than 2 squads to deal with Ezra since their numbers have dwindled badly over the years, why would he care about numbers if the troopers are all dead anyway? I suspect the coffins in the catacombs that they’re loading back onto the ship are dead stormtroopers they’re planning to resurrect.
They have to be night sister resurrections. Dont think they would show Marrok dying with green smoke for no reason. It would be cool when the rebels jedi team kill a bunch of them and green smoke just shoots out everywhere.
didn't think of the Eastern Roman Empire but ur right in the chaos of the complete collapse of the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire crawled out of the dust and debris, but especially they looked like this damaged, near-dead army in the final years of complete devastation and the Fall of Constantinople, when everything was pretty much doomed and they kept just fighting. Tbf it does recall myth and legend of some expeditionary force trapped in this unknown frontier, in this distant foreign wasteland, a bit of Odyssey in it.
I love that the first extra-galactic planet we have ever been to is shot in such an alien way. Like the whole Peridea intro sequence comes straight out of a Villeneuve movie. The Great Mothers gave me major Bene Gesserit vibes. Thrawn's entrance is like the Emperor's entrance. Even the landscape shots evoke an eerie vibe throughout. The music is also different. Kevin Kiner channeling his Vangelis/Hans Zimmer for the score. Ohh every episode of this show becomes my favourite every release. Also live action Thrawn and Ezra are perfect. Ezra more so, since we know Lars Mikkelsen is reprising. He looks and sounds exactly like an older Ezra while keeping that early Rebels charm. 10/10 casting for Ezra.
I was thinking the same. Much as the original Star Wars took a lot from the Dune novels, this episode in particular seems to take much from Denis Villeneuve's Dune.
I had a really big smile on my face when I saw Ezra again. He looks like Moses from The Prince of Egypt. Also, could the big threat in this galaxy be the Vong? Edit: Ok, it might not be the Vong because it Baylan can sense the threat through the Force.
@@gbozzi05_The Grysk invaded the Unknown Regions from another galaxy. They could the going with the War in the Unknown Regions which I hope. Beylan could be talking to someone else. Abeloth, maybe?
I seriously hope Baylan's story arc is somehow finished before the season concludes. He and Shin are the most captivating part for me, and there's absolutely no one who could replace Ray Stevensen in this role.
Live-action Ezra is so freaking beautiful the heck?? Love how the Great Mothers and Thrawn looked and sounded as well. I've been "they're ok I guess" on live-action Hera and Sabine, BUT EZRA THOOO
Whatever it is that Baylan is sensing has the potential to be truly epic. He has very advanced insight thru the force. He sees a LOT! What the heck does he see?!
You know Thrawn is a scary one when even Morgan is unconfortable and in a subordonate position When she was so confident and bossy with everyone else !
still remember watching Eric and Shane’s reaction to the Rebels Season 3 trailer 7 years ago (WOAH) which revealed Thrawn’s first appearance beyond the books. If you told me then we’d be seeing Thrawn in live action one day, I’d laugh. So awesome how far we’ve come. Great reaction guys!!
The Howler scenes were some of my favorite in the episode. They were kind of goofy but in a good way. You think they'd be these vicious creatures and they end up being like big goofy dogs
When Baylan says that "something is calling him", what if it's the Bendu or some other Force creature trying to pull him back to the light side. I hate the fact that Ray Stevenson is not anymore with us. It would have been very interesting to see him leading a third faction in this next conflict between light and dark.
Calling it now, yoda's species came from this galaxy which is why we never see more than a couple of his species. The witches reacted when they heard jedi, and I don't think it was just Ezra...
That's an interesting thought, but I really hope they don't expand on Yoda's species more. I like how their home, origin, name, etc. is all left to mystery.
Fun fact : the gold on the presumably dead storm troopers armor is a Japanese pottery/ ceramics technique called “kintsugi” which translates “golden repair”
My Theory - Dave is gonna tie in the missing character from the Mortis arc, Abeloth aka The Mother. Instead of using black holes to imprison her, she was imprisoned to a different galaxy/ this galaxy and Abeloth could explain where the Night Sisters get their magic from and also the greater power Baylan is searching for to bring back and destroy our galaxy.
Skoll and Hati are in norse mythos as two wolves who are hunting the sun and moon and when Ragnarok happens they catch them finally and it's said the sky and earth go dark and collapse. A VERY cool niche reference, and seems to be lining up with what Skoll is saying throughout the episode when he's talking about his goals of ending the cycle by claiming a great power and such... They're the two most interesting characters in series for me as much as obviously others are super cool and I'd like to know more. Something about Baylan and Shin is SO compelling.
22:14 This conversation makes me want a Farscape reaction so bad! It's one of my all-time favorite shows and I have a feeling that Blind Wave will absolutely love it!

You guys haven't seen Farscape? You'd love it. It's a bit Star Wars and a bit Guardians of the Galaxy, but with Muppets. :) So cool to have Claudia Black and Wes Chatham in this episode. Pretty much my three favourite worlds colliding.
Don't know about you guys, but when I watched the Rebels episodes with Thrawn, my skin crawled every time he spoke. His voice was just so... emotionless, cold, calculating, it made me shiver. Hearing that coming out of a real life person now? Uh-huhuhuh... the creepiness has been cranked to ELEVEN!
Can I also say I need a Tales of the Jedi series 2 and for it to include Baylan and Shins backstory I need that. It’s only downside would be no Ray Stevenson what a man he’s done an incredible job
Maybe there will be those who make fun of the makeup, but at this point Thrawn without Lars is not the same, that presentation was incredible, direction, setting, interactions, Kiner's music, The Heir has Returned
Look wise, it's just okay for me but when the man speaks, I'm always in awe. I'm immediately sucked in that this is Thrawn. Honestly just a great choice to keep the voice actor.
I'm so glad I found you guys! I always felt like nobody appreciated Star Wars they way I appreciate it, then I found y'all. Now I'm a senior on college, and I feel like a little kid again watching you guys react to this! We are so back and I'm ready for this show to continue Rebel's legacy and start something new!!
As Ezra would say lads "You took your time!" sorry the quote might be off but watched the episode once earlier and been waiting for your reaction all day! Respect here from England!
I’ve seen quite a few people talk about the theory of the Night Troopers are undead soldier created by Night Sister magic. Honestly when they were chanting Thrawn the feeling I was getting was something else. To me it kinda gave off cultish vibes. Like these troopers were trap in a different galaxy and that their belief in Thrawn and that he will get them home is like what kept them alive. Which I do kinda like more than them being mindless undead drones.
Kinda reminds me of Captain Torres from Ace Combat 7. He was leading an experimental submarine when it sank to the bottom and got stuck there for two years, but, thanks to his leadership, 330 of the 356-strong crew survived. The survivors essentially worshipped Torres, and some of them even left the crew to become secret agents for him, sabotaging his enemies around the world. I imagine that a similar thing probably happened here. Thrawn is smart, efficient, and the survivors' only ticket home, so, intentionally or not, a cult formed around him.
This is why I love watching Star Wars/Marvel reactions from you guys, bc I'm normally not excited about anything that i don't know much about but bc yall get excited it makes a better viewing experience for me
The casting for Ezra is fantastic! Honestly, the only person I’m not really sold on yet is Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera. I just hear Mary’s voice every time she speaks, rather than Hera’s. Can’t suspend my disbelief.
I think the Chimaera is essentially taking the place of “Naglfar” in the story of Ragnarok, and Thrawn is being used as the stand-in for Loki who brings his ship of the dead filled with monsters to battle the gods. So it seems pretty clear that the Night Troopers are going to effectively be “wights”, and who knows what other corpses they’re raising from the catacombs. Baylan said it was a graveyard, but maybe it’s not just a place for the whales to die. Maybe the whales have been taking all sorts of unsavory types to exile and death on this planet. I think the “Naglfar” aspect is key, though. The Chimaera is now the “Ship of the Dead”, and the Nightsisters may as well be Whitewalkers.
My theory about the Night Troopers is that Thrawn has been having them fight to the death over and over again to hone their skills, similar to how Odin prepares warriors for Ragnarok at Valhalla. I think the “dwindled numbers” were probably troopers that were so badly damaged in training that their corpses couldn’t be revived by magic. I think that’s why they look so beat up, and I think that’s why Enoch says, “Die well.” I think the Night Troopers have developed a cult of death similar to Roman gladiators (hence his face mask). That’s how I would do it at least.
Ezra is casted perfectly. Hands down! And I love Thrawn's introduction. I also love the fact that he decides to seek aid from NIghtsisters; people that use some mystic connection to the force. I'm reminded of his line to Ezra in the Rebels finale "the force is an enigma to me", and it's when the force intervenes that thrawts Thrawn's plans. Nice bit of story telling for the Rebels fans.
If it was in her head, how would she know what Luke told Anakin in Return of the Jedi? He referenced it directly. He also didn't recognize The Siege of Mandalore
So this is a long shot theory that I've been holding onto since Ahsoka started but I'm feeling more confidant about it as the show goes on. I believe that the Ahsoka show is reintroducing the legends character The Mother/Abeloth. Each of the mortis gods represent aspect of the force the The Son/Sith, The Daughter/Jedi, The Father/Bendu, The Mother might represent the Night Sisters. The leaders of the Nightsisters always hold the title of Mother and since Nightsister stuff has been so prevalent in this show if there is a connection there The Mother/Abeloth might be exiled on the planet that Thrawn/Ezra find themselves trapped on. Baylan says he feels something stirring on the planet in episode 6 and I think its The Mother/Abeloth. Obviously the reason she is waking is because of Ahsoka coming to the planet and her connection with the Daughter. What are your guys thoughts?
I found your reactions when i was 22 I'm about to be 30 but i have had the best 6 years with all of you these discussions always make my work week great
Well, if he knows about the jedi by reading clone wars reports it'd make sense he'd have seen a jedi mentioned if he was leading his own battalion. On the other hand since he knows Vader is Skywalker it's weird he'd not have gotten information on him that would mention ahsoka
He'll be really interested in learning Anakin was Ahsoka's master considering Thrawn fought with Anakin in the Clone Wars. Thrawn had respect for Anakin and figured out he was Vader.
@@riccardogemme Also in season 2 of Rebels, Ahsoka was known to the Empire as being alive so Vader sent the Inquisitors to hunt her and Phoneix Squadron down. I'm sure Thrawn would have heard about all of that so knew Ahsoka was a big name in the Rebellion.
Have to say, first episode or two of this series I was feeling a little lukewarm, but now holy FUCK. I haven't been this invested and intrigued since Andor
I didn't realize how massive Lars Mikkelsen was until he shared a scene with Ray Stevenson and Wes Chatham. Wes Chatham, who plays Captain Enoch, played Amos in "The Expanse" and was one of the most physically imposing characters in that series. However, Wes Chatham looks very short compared to Lars Mikkelsen. Even Ray Stevenson is slightly shorter than Lars Mikkelsen.
So some interesting things we learned in this episode: 1. The force exists across all galaxies 2. Nightsister's ancestors the Dathomiri originate from another galaxy (Peridea) and they predate even the Jedi 3. Dathomiri made a Witch Kingdom and they learned how to tame Purrgil which is how they found the main galaxy, mapped such routes with their tech, and colonized planets like Seatos, Arcana, and their stronghold which they would later name Dathomir. 4. After some time their Witch Kingdom fell (possibly due to a more powerful threat such as the one Baylon is called to), which caused them to severely fall in power and their populations across both galaxies lost alot of contact, but they didnt go extinct because the Great Mothers are inhabiting Peridea. 5. By the time the Jedi exist the Witches origins are done for and they exist as tales only, they only known about their presence in this galaxy. Now for some theories: 1. The Witches can no longer force the Purrgil to do their bidding (maybe they lost skill or the whales dont allow them) which is why the Great Mothers need to call upon Elsbeth to take them and Thrawn with her. 2. Ezra couldnt escape because maybe it was too risky and because the Purrgil only come to Peridea to die so how would Ezra get ahold of more whales? 3. Thrawn's forces are not dead, simply enhanced with magik because he apparently already needed their magik. If they were alread dead then what would be the point of showing the cargo bodies that WILL eventually get revived? The troopers are enhanced like Marrok and Savage Oppress, they have a general sentience while zombies have always been showed as animalistic and savage, something the troopers are not. 4. The Witches cleary have a set goal to maybe take over the galaxy or something, and their goals align with Thrawn because he has the forces necessary to do so so they need each other. This means Elsbeth likely told the Imperial Remnant that Thrawn would return to get them ready. Thank you for reading till the end😂

True that
Remainded me of the shadow of war game. Each time it showed the war chief you heard all the soldiers chanting haha
It feels like they literally plucked Ezra right out of Rebels and aged him up. Spot on casting.
Its actually crazy
Would love to see the older one go back to his younger shit shenanigans like escaping a cell or Jabba the Hutt name LMAO!
I admit i was very, very worried from the trailer and the hologram in season 1. It looked so weird. But the grown up version of him works so well, might actually legit be the best casting other than Thrawn
Hey guys...I don't think Marrok was Ezra...
Apparently Marrok wasn't anyone at all. Just... Marrok. Strange how it almost feel... innovative.
Who's Marrok again?
@@darthroden I keep trying to remember but it's like he was just dust in the wind...
Oh ho, ya think?
@DrNoxin Marrok was a hint at what the Great Mothers will do with the dead they are loading on the Star Destroyer.
Captain Enoch is the coolest looking stormtrooper in all of Star Wars. I hope there’s more to his character in the future. Ahsoka is absolutely some of my favorite Star Wars ever, it’s so good
Well, prepare yourself, because he'll probably just be another cool-looking trooper that gets taken out quickly and easily.
@@PerovNigma It's possible, but it would be weird to have the loyal lieutenant of Thrawn have such a unique look, that has a relatively unique name, only for him to be inconsequential. Time will tell
It will be a shame if he goes out without saying "I am that guy".
He reminds me of the ben 10 villain of the same name
He's also played by Wes Chatham (Amos from The Expanse).
Claudia Black is a Sci-Fi queen. She's been in so many beloved sci-fi shows. Also you can literally see them moving the floaty space coffins onto the star destroyer.
I know her best as my favorite merchant of the Tower in Destiny...such a sexy dark voice.
I take it she was one of the Nightsisters?
She's also the super hot Chloe 🥵
And she voiced Morrigan in the Dragon Age games (nice witch connection).
Don't forget Pitch Black. That is my movie!!!!!!!
Sabine reaction to the howler abandoning her and giving it another chance mirrors her relationship with Ahsoka.
Her getting upset for no logical reason and then pouting about it?

I love how much Baylan’s motivation reminds me of Kreia from KOTOR II. A great villain echoing another great villain.
That game deserves a proper remaster.
I really hope that is the direction he goes in

I loved KOTOR II. I think it's one of the VERY few instances where Star Wars used its science fantasy elements to make an actual mature story.
I love how open minded you guys are. Not toxic and judgmental like most of the SW fan base is. you guys are awesome!
I'm not necessarily a Star Wars fan but I do judge any show based on the quality of its writing and plot. Anyone should.
I like the fact that Ezra looks like his father now and the animated adult image of him. Great detail in casting.
Jar Jar
The Son. Because if you pause it after shin looks out at the rocks you can see a strange bat like creature flying away from the rocks it was sitting on.
Edit: the enemy the nightsisters could be afraid of could be the Grysk. That would be a common enemy that they share.
Abeloth, maybe?
@@DarksideGmss0513Didn’t the son get stabbed on Mortis and die?

The bonus reaction at 21:31 has me DYING. I legit CACKLED and almost scared the cat out of my lap.
“SHOW ME HIS FACE IT’S SO PRETTY” is giving me LIFE.
Seeing the battle worn Chimaera was freaking sick!!! Loved the detail of the broken ion engines!!
I cannot get over Aaron’s mustache… key part in this reaction for sure 😂
Yeah the pedostache's really distracting.
Aaron's moustache is the key to all this.
Yeah, I mean, did we all sign off on that? It’s such a big call. I feel there should have been a stakeholder meeting or something.😊
Something amazing than Thrawn appearance is Aaron's moustache appearance
"It's not like Lion King, this is in Space!" Insights like this are why I watch this channel
Vong or Grisk?
Doubt it, since it's calling to Baylan through the force.

Beylan could be talking to someone else. Abeloth, maybe?
I was thinking of that. Imagine if they had to face the vong? Oh god, I would lose my mind.
One thing is for sure is that Cosplayers are gonna have a field day with the Night Troopers.
Eric vowing to avenge the "rat-dog-horse" with fire had me in tears @16:14. underrated comedic editing too.
Enoch is freakin Amos from expanse. He went from a 10 to 12 with that fact alone. This episode was better than 5. Incredible.
The hermit crab people are easily one of my favorite new species since the Disney acquisition lol
Honestly I never thought of Thrawn's troops being "undead" It makes perfect sense now that I see it.
There's something really great about the fact that it was David Tennant who was the first person in star wars media to say the line.
I like that the Night Sister henge had several directions marked. Perhaps implying that they have been to many other galaxies.
Fun fact : the gold on the presumably dead storm troopers armor is a Japanese pottery/ ceramics technique called “kintsugi” which translates “golden repair”
I REALLY appreciate that you guys don’t put spoilers in your thumbnails like every other reaction channel! The GOAT’s 🐐

Ezra got that facial hair like Suraj from the Normies. Looks great!
Literally haven’t been this jazzed for Star Wars since that period of time after The Force Awakens / Before Last Jedi.
This show has got me extremely hype for the Heir to the Empire movie

Grown up Ezra is such a delight, I remember being super annoyed with him early on and he slightly grew on me throughout Rebels
You guys haven't seen Farscape? You'd love it. It's a bit Star Wars and a bit Guardians of the Galaxy, but with Muppets. :) So cool to have Claudia Black and Wes Chatham in this episode. Pretty much my three favourite worlds colliding.
I came here to say the same thing! I love Farscape! We should request a reaction to that show.
If you have the subtitles on it says that those troopers are called Night Troopers.
Can I also say I need a Tales of the Jedi series 2 and for it to include Baylan and Shins backstory I need that.
It’s only downside would be no Ray Stevenson what a man he’s done an incredible job
22:29. You should also recognize her from Mass Effect! She played the quarian admiral Daro'Xen (the one who wanted to experiment on the geth).
The fact Baylan feels something , and how the Nightsisters wanna get off as soon as possible, could there be a bigger threat lurking?
"Aaron with no beard and just a moustache can't hurt you, he's not real"
Aaron with no beard and just a moustache:
Thrawn’s slow walk entrance with the organ playing his theme was just…. perfect

Is Rick on vacation or something? I miss him!
Yeah honestly it makes sense because if they were already dead then why would they even show the dead bodies in the cargo?
This is why I love watching Star Wars/Marvel reactions from you guys, bc I'm normally not excited about anything that i don't know much about but bc yall get excited it makes a better viewing experience for me
The casting for Ezra is fantastic! Honestly, the only person I’m not really sold on yet is Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera. I just hear Mary’s voice every time she speaks, rather than Hera’s. Can’t suspend my disbelief.
Its more Sabine I struggle with. I'm used to Mary as Hera now.
THE COOLEST THING ABOUT THIS EPISODE WAS...ALONG TIME AGO IN A GALAXY FAR FAR AWAY.
he nailed Ezra.. the body language.. expressions.. nailed it..
Oh yeah, the relation between Sabine and the Howler was super precious, I was all here for it!
Loved that the hermit crab people were dressed like Frodo Baggins
They’re space hobbits, babyyyyy
I found your reactions when i was 22 I'm about to be 30 but i have had the best 6 years with all of you these discussions always make my work week great
Ezra looks so much like the picture of his dad!
Thrawn knows about Baylan, but doesn't know Ahsoka. That's strange.
Well, if he knows about the jedi by reading clone wars reports it'd make sense he'd have seen a jedi mentioned if he was leading his own battalion. On the other hand since he knows Vader is Skywalker it's weird he'd not have gotten information on him that would mention ahsoka
I don't think he knew anything about Baylan. He just saw the lightsaber on his belt, and maybe Shin's braid, and concluded he is/was a Jedi.

Seeing Wes Chatham get acknowledged makes me happy
Have to say, first episode or two of this series I was feeling a little lukewarm, but now holy FUCK. I haven't been this invested and intrigued since Andor
"You got red on you" love that reference Eric haha
I didn't realize how massive Lars Mikkelsen was until he shared a scene with Ray Stevenson and Wes Chatham. Wes Chatham, who plays Captain Enoch, played Amos in "The Expanse" and was one of the most physically imposing characters in that series. However, Wes Chatham looks very short compared to Lars Mikkelsen. Even Ray Stevenson is slightly shorter than Lars Mikkelsen.
Wes is an intimidating presence but he isn't tall tall ("only" 6').
How that singular focus will reshape our galaxy. Wow how amazing was that!
Eric’s willingness to burn down entire villages for cute animals needs to be admired
So some interesting things we learned in this episode:
1. The force exists across all galaxies
2. Nightsister's ancestors the Dathomiri originate from another galaxy (Peridea) and they predate even the Jedi
Now for some theories:
