Oh man! I can't wait for this new iMac Pro! That's not because I might get it for myself (because I won't - it's way too overkill for what I do), but because such an iMac, would likely mean that Apple would also be selling a 120Hz miniLED external monitor, which I would absolutely love to get! Thoughts on the upcoming iMac Pro?

I’m just curious about the Mac Pro. Since it’s literally the only Mac Apple sells right now that’s still stuck with Intel. Please make a video about the Mac Pro and the Pro Display XDR and what they are doing for the future.
Just give us a simple larger 27” iMac, preferably with the Studio Display chassis. It can’t be that difficult…
@rewanji I agree. Its what I need. I just bought an i7 5K cos I needed upgrade. I would have preferred tricked out i9 or perhaps a high end apple silicon. Studio is not bad idea, the first purchase requires extra monitor. (Too bad I cant use my 5k monitor is second or space.)
How about just a "regular" iMAC-27? That would be great too.
We already have the 27 inch studio display.
This should be the dual or multi display option from apple.
I think it is more likely to get something like 29in imac with M2/M3 (10 Core/Pro/Max/maybe Ultra Chip)
THANK YOU. I still have my 2012 iMac 27”, and I love it. I don’t need a $5K computer, but I love the 27” screen for audio/video editing, as well as Unity game engine, and I’d really like an update on a decent, but not crazy iMac.
27 inch iMac Pro was upgradable upto 256GB. It was so interesting and useful as well for musicians, video editors and programmers too (may be some other professionals also).
Just give us a $2000 27" imac like we used to have.
Adding the "Pro" moniker to any Mac just means it will cost twice as much!

I really want a studio display design with the M1 Max. chip
I really just need a Studio Display but in 32 inch size. iMac Pro is pretty cool though, I'm sure it will look fresh
If they put m1 max in or or m3 max and or ultra, they could change the cooling to long rollers fan setup that pull air through bottom and push it up, past heated components and out the back mid way or top.
The minimum RAM needs to be 16gb not 8 regardless of the iMac level

What do You think will the starting price be for a new 2023 iMac 27? I read somewhere that it is anticipated at around 2000$ with the cheaper versions, but that would render at least part of the Mac Studio with Apple external display a bad deal, and they would cease to sell. This makes me think of a price tag starting at around 4000$ is more probable - what do You think?

If/when it comes out I plan on buying the iMac Pro instead of the studio, honestly. I don’t understand how it’d run hotter than the Studio though since there’s so much more open space, but, I love the all-in-one ideal in iMacs since my first time using one in 2015. For cable management and other aesthetics as well as just the practicality of it.
Cool I almost got IMac but I will wait on IMac Pro. Screen needs to be Larger than 24 inches.

It could also simply be that the Mac Studio and Display is the new iMac Pro (also when you look at how they compare it to the iMac 27" + the Mac Pro). That would mean a standard iMac 27" could launch?
I’m due for an upgrade. I currently have an old 27” iMac. I was going to pick up the 24” to replace it. I’m not a pro or have a need for a serious display. I’m mostly browsing the web, email and some light video editing. Would the current 24” work for me?
If you can live with losing 3“ then I’d say yes! Go for the 24“. They are super fast and basic video editing worked grad for me
The 24” is more than strong enough for all those. I’ve seen people edit 4K 120FPS video on it like a breeze, the M1’s and M2’s are quite possibly the most powerful chips for the consumer market available.

I hope the iMac Pro has more ports than the 24". I would like to at least see a couple of USB_A ports along with an SD card reader
Honestly, with the new EU laws going into effect it’s very possible USB-A will finally go extinct within the decade, and Apple’s push on USB-C for computers (I wish for iPhones too, but, oh well) makes it unlikely too.
But an onboard SDXC and MicroSD reader I absolutely agree with. They’re simply vital.

Me too! I am babying my late 2013 27" iMac which, unfortunately, I can't use as a monitor, otherwise I would just buy a mac mini so as to run the latest OS.

M2 is actually M1.5 “gap-filler” chip, so I would not expect it to be implemented in an extensive range of Mac products

24’’? Really?! I don’t get it either! I have 30’’ display for 10 years and can’t imagine to fit on 24’’ or even accept it for such price! O_o
I don’t understand why 30’’ in 2022 or 2023 is some luxury thing? It’s a normal size of display.

I am trying to find an apple laptop large screen that has no less than Mac os11. cpu 1.83 ran 6gb blue tooth and USB port 1024 px x 768 px.
I was desperately waiting for a new iMac with a bigger screen. Now that i have the Mac Studio, I’d really hate seeing this product appear.
your Mac Studio will still be better than a new iMac Pro, because you did already worked with it, created or delivered something (and got paid) while those depended on their old iMac Pros worked on old technology.
They never can match what you achieved, because there is always the time between Mac studio was introduced and the iMac Pro one day in the future may be introduced.

ImacPro hands down. I don’t want to have to spend for a box and a monitor. I definitely am waiting to purchase another imacpro for my studio and the iMac studio just doesn’t cut it.

I want a 30" inch miniLED 120hz iMac Pro with 3nm M2 or M3 Pro chip for $3000.
All I take away from this is that no one has a clue what is going on... and it doesn't matter how good or fast it is, if all the software atm are having huge bottleneck issues with not being able to keep up
You have to keep in mind the Imac pro will most likely come with Keyboard and mouse.

I will still go for the mac studio, it might get cheaper. I have the MacBook Pro 16 inch and I use my iPad Pro like my second monitor and good thing they both have the m1 chip so I’m happy with that. I’m looking to get the max studio. Because I want to have atleast three display when I do my photography and videography 🙂

If this is true, Apple is pricing themselves out of the average home. I want to replace my 27" iMac. Currently it will cost me around AUD$4000 based on the Mac Mini with studio display. To replace my AUD$2700 iMac! That's BS.
My first Mac was a 512K and cost me Cdn $5,280.00, but I also want to replace my (Late 2013) 27" iMac. I must admit that the 24" has twice the screen resolution than mine so it might not be so bad to loose a couple of inches.

Prepare to pay north of $4000 for the base imac pro
I'm just waiting for the iMac m3 bc I know I can't afford anything more than a imac, now the reason I want the m3 and not the m1 or m2 is bc I know that m1 max gb ram is 16, and most likely the m2 max gb ram will be 24, so I just hope that the m3 iMac has 32 max gb ram, but I don't know if there upgrading the max gb ram everytime there is a new chip...
I want target display mode to make a return so we can use that screen for more than just the iMac - like a PS5/Xbox. For everyone touting go green they should have consumers buy less screens to do something their Mac screen is very capable of doing. Just do a Pro version with 120hz and a target display option and the value goes way up on an iMac, gives us a reason to possible choose it over a Macbook with an external display, while saving the need for using more screens for the environment. Right now I have to use external monitors which negates any reason I need an iMac.
Now this upsets me because I just bought the m1 max MacBook Pro 16”

There are two issues. Price point and thermal issues. Apple has not yet warmed to an iMac post intel, that cost above a consumer price point. That means a 27" high end display is out of the question from that perspective. Thermal wise, If you look at the cooling needed in the Mac Studio .... that will require some engineering to try and put that in a very thin panel iMac long with a large LED panel. Im not convinced that Apple wants to sell even a $4,000 iMac let alone even more.
So that leaves a consumer priced iMac that has a speed bump like a 24" M2.
5:40 nah calling an 18 month cycle. So chip production can happen anywhere starting now but likely wont be put inside a macbook pro 14/16 inch till next yr. Instead i imagine a mac mini or 24in imac getting the m2 pro/max chip options this fall but no redesign. A mac mini with an m2 pro chip will likely kill off the intel mac mini finally.
Then in spring of 23 when they release the macbooks with the new chips it wont seem like a “brand new” thing, just a simple refresh. And then at wwdc or fall they can show m3/m3 pro. It saves the audience from feeling like the unveiled 2 separate generations in one yr cause they wouldve use all of this yr (22) to show m2/m2 pro
I wouldn’t expect a Mac mini with anything more powerful than the base M2 chip. Mac Studio has dashed any hopes of a “Pro” mini.

That depends on if they’re willing to release a 60Hz mini-LED display or not because TB4 doesn’t support greater than 60Hz at 5-8K resolutions. There’s no such limitation if the monitor is built into the computer.
