The Jimmy Skiff looks fantastic, Wayne! It was our pleasure to have you participate in the class. We hope you will bring it to the Big Little Boat Fest next May.
🌴 “ We’ll is Happened “ ! All the Stars must have been aligned , you got the boat project done and she’s looking great , as you’ve stood back and looked at her many times pondering on what to do and making decisions it’s finally paid off , there’s that special moment were the boat gets baptized and your first real cruise, it’s a moment you won’t forget ever , the sense of accomplishment and over time you’ll mentally and physically bond as the old boat will become part of the family and hopefully an air loom , it will create memories both on and off the water , as I said before in my past comments I’m a retired boat and yacht builder of 32 years , I’ve built a lot of boats in my time and for many different boat companies, it’s funny because I still see boats on the street and on the water that I made after all these years , there’s both a sense of pride and memory with something you’ve made still going through the test of time , your skiff will give many years of fun and memories and that sense of accomplishment, she looks great , now enjoy some time together, ha before the snow flies 😊👍🏼
I recently finished a Chester Yawl and it was a long but enjoyable project. The quality of the kit is top notch but the manual needs a complete update to align with the updated CNC components. I had purchased a manual for the Tenderly Dingy which was a great reference, more detailed and current. Glad I started with the simpler Chester Yawl. Great video.
Not my style of boat but what can I say? Wayne! That's beautiful work. Very old school with the varnished wood. What a lovely little boat. Love your work.
Wow that’s a gorgeous boat! We your viewers are so proud of you and look forward to seeing more of this boat. You’ve done a wonderful job! You keep me inspired and motivated to finish my boat too. Well done!
Love the boat Wayne!!! It turned out really nice!!! I am sure you are really going to enjoy it. I agree that the guy and Tiny Boat Nation are great people to work with!!!
Well, sir, that right there is a beautiful boat. Got to say Wayne, I don't think I've seen a video of yurs where ya looked happier, and ya should be happy! You did a wonderful job on a magnificent beautiful boat.
Wayne, My hats off to you. Nice looking boat, glad to see you get it done. It looks like it can handle some decent sized water as well. I have looked into those kits from Chesapeake boats. They have some really neat pre cut kits. I had my eye on the unique tear drop kit a kayak kit. Hope you enjoy it as often as you can. 😀🎉👍✌️
She looks fantastic! Thanks for taking us on this adventure! I have been considering building either a Jimmy Skiff or a Peeler Skiff. I look forward to more videos of your Jimmy Skiff on the water.
Thank you! I plan to spend some more time with a Peeler Skiff in the future (probably Spring). The advantage of building the Jimmy Skiff II as a first time build is that it is easier and quicker to build which puts the light at the end of the tunnel much closer! The advantage of the Peeler Skiff is that it is a bigger boat.
Congratulations sir! You should be very proud of yourself and the wonderful persona that you have to garner such attention from sponsors. Youve given me the bug and one day I'll follow you down this path as well. Enjoy the videos, please keep them coming!
Great job Wayne, looks fantastic. You made a really professional job. It really gets along well, too, and it's great to see what the electric outboard can do on a really efficient hull. I painted my dinghy with the previous version of toplac 6 years ago and i didn't start covering the boat until last year. The paint is still holding up very well with just some light fading in places. It's great paint.
The boat came out beautifully! I'll have to wave to you next time I'm at my mother-in-law's house... she lives diagonally across from you on the corner. I knew you were in the neighborhood; I just didn't realize you were right there.
It looks so beautiful, now I want one too, with a sail. Love the colors. If they had this in Europe and I had the space to build and store it, I would get one.
@@WayneTheBoatGuyI might get one, if I can find someone to help me with and if I can find a workshop I could use. I have zero experience in woodwork or really painting for that matter. But it'd would be a rewarding challenge I think. I do wonder, where did you put the battery for the motor. Is it in inside the engine? How do you charge it? It would be cool if you could hook up a solar panel. I'd be a little bit anxious having a battery on board if you use the boat for sailing and accidentally capsize, since it doesn't have a keel. There are no eels to charge here with a lost battery...
Hi Wayne, congrats on finishing the boat. The only note I think you should be aware of is that I believe the forward compartment you put your life jackets should be sealed and is part of the floatation of the boat. I would reach out to CLC and make sure that the boat has sufficient flotation with just the side tanks sealed. Best of luck.
Yeah I have compromised the floatation, but compared to every other boat I have ran, this one has a whole lot more. This topic will be brought up in future videos.
Nice looking rig. When you mount your paddle, take into account the distance the clips stick out. I did that on my rig and ended up taking them off because the clips just got in the way . EVERYTHING, got caught on them, including my calf!
I didn't know a thing like that existed where you could take a class to build a boat. That thing came out very pristine. I wonder if people would attend a class on how to build out an aluminum jon boat?
What a beautiful boat! Great work!! Only you know the imperfections, part of doing it yourself! What was the total cost to build? Class, plans, materials?
The total cost really varies based on how people decide to build it. The CLC web site has many of the costs on there because some people just buy plans and source their own wood, while others buy the kit and have it shipped. I got the kit and then also took the class which is an additional cost. Also during the finishing process paints and varnishes can vary in cost. Choosing to to use two colors of paint and also varnish can be a larger investment of time and money for materials.
How far from home are you thinking of towing it? We have good boating in Indiana... Monroe lake is very good (my personal favorite), and the Ohio river is a lot of fun too (but I'm terrible at docking in current). Being a smaller boat it probably isn't a terrible hassle to tow long distance... My boat (an old 16' V8 ski boat) does travel around the state but it's pushing the limits of my truck (especially if I hit steep hills). Have fun!
It is easy to tow with my truck - the trailer is very under-loaded and the boat is under 200 lbs. I may only be taking it around Maryland, Virginia and Delaware next year - depending on how my old truck is holding up.
Wow! Nicely done! Beautiful boat! I have questions! Did you have to get a VIN or something similar from the state to register it? Have you had it weighed and had to adjust the axle to have proper tongue weight? And this is your new Venture trailer I'm assuming... It seems to have a long tongue. I bought an EZ loader a couple years back and it also seems very long. I see you have the swing away hinge as I do, but I've wondered if I didn't order the swing away, if the couple would just be moved back to where the hinge location is.. Making the swing option pointless.
The kit came with the paperwork and a VIN - so registering was easy. I have not weighed it - but this boat is so light (under 200 lbs) that it probably can be placed anywhere on the trailer. I have trailered it on the highway a few times already and it feels like there nothing behind me and the trailer acts like it is empty (just bounces less). My trailer is not a swing away and I like having the longer tongue because I can flip down my tailgate to see behind me.
Sorry for maybe a basic question but how can i find some nice flexible bowline like you've got there? I've been using some climbing rope but it doesn't coil nicely.
The Jimmy Skiff looks fantastic, Wayne! It was our pleasure to have you participate in the class. We hope you will bring it to the Big Little Boat Fest next May.
I plan to!
Mr. Wayne the Boat Builder Guy, she looks great, what a great accomplishment. Congratulations on a job well done.
thank you!

Yeah we intend to use it often!
Holy hawsers! That boat is a *peach* of a Jimmy Skiff.
You have every right to be proud of your work, Wayne.
Thank you! If you'd like a ride someday - I can come to you!
Great job! I just started mine. I should be tack gluing it this weekend and am hoping to get it glassed before it gets too cold.
You can do it!
Are you building a Jimmy Skiff II?
@@WayneTheBoatGuy Yes.
Looks amazing I want to build one now
That turned out to be one beautiful boat you should be proud of yourself
Thank you!
Wow Wayne, she turned out beautiful. Great job. love the color.
Thanks a bunch
Great job on building the boat! Looks good!
Thanks! It was a lot of work but I'm happy with how it turned out.
That looks great! It would have taken me forever to finish up that project. I'm glad you plowed ahead and got it done. Nice paint and varnish job!
Thanks! I really had to push hard before winter set in to get it done

That turned out very nice. Anyone would be happy with the workmanship
Looks fantastic Wayne. Great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great job, Wayne well done
Be well
Congratulations that’s beautiful looking little skiff
I appreciate it - thank you!
Looking awesome! If a project gets done on time I'm paranoid i missed something because that "never" happens, so I'll just say you got it all... 😊
Not my style of boat but what can I say? Wayne! That's beautiful work. Very old school with the varnished wood. What a lovely little boat. Love your work.
Yeah these aren't for everyone - more like a funky alternative to the typical aluminum boats!

How cool to be out on the water with a boat you built. Looks great!

Good to hear - this paint seems to be really good.
Exceptional Job Wayne! What a great looking boat 😁👍👍
Thanks buddy! It was a MUCH smaller job than your project!
Great job, looks better than mine! Proof that anybody can build a Chesapeake light craft!
Yes - anyone can! And a class REALLY helps!
Hey now that looks sharp as a carpet tac mr wayne , excellent 👌👌👍
Thanks 👍
She's a sharp lookn vessel there captain Wayne
1:54 silly idea
But if you put a small drop down leg in that hatch, you could use it like a small table?
Oooo - neat idea!

It does!
Purdy work (as they say on the Shore)
'preciate that'
Beautiful boat! Nice work

Mr Wayne, how does one title a homemade haul? Thanks in advance.
Each state is different. Check with your DNR or appropriate entity. This boat was a kit and it came with one.

That's what I was thinking.
Where’s the vintage 3 horse?
It will get a turn soon enough!
@ great! I love that epropulsion but there’s something fitting about the old motor with a wooden boat!
No longer a pure consumer
