Jacksepticeye was actually a drummer in a band and got a degree in audio engineering before he was a youtuber. So him playing drums well isn't a big surprise
I just wish we got footage of him using a properly tuned (e)kit, I only ever see people dial in awful sounds when even a TD-4 can sound like a million bucks. Which is something that doesn't hold up in the context of the mix necessarily, but the clip here sounds so much worse for it.
@@realburglazofficial2613 well considering there's a small handful of them with more followers overall than traditional celebrities I'd say those ones count. Jacksepticeye being one of those few

Garth Algar’s drumming in Wayne’s World was, in fact, the real deal. It was dubbed over in the studio for better sound, but he’s playing the solo as written in time in the shot
Doesn't necessarily need to be for a video, but Fred Armisen has a Netflix special called Standup for Drummers where he plays on kits from each decade, in the respective styles of that decade. Definitely worth a watch if you haven't already, and showcases what he's capable of a little better.
Bro, that “timing being off” in Fred Armisen’s battle was totally in time, if you just tap along to it, you can tell it’s a pause and it actually is pretty cool! I’d give Fred an A for it.
@StephenIrvine Right? Unless he meant the J Dilla groove Questlove played at first? Wich of course is deliberate, as EMC surely knows. Either way, I replayed it and liked it even more the second time.
The solo at the end of Whiplash was done by a New York studio guy who remained anonymous because it was a non-union gig and he didn't want to get in trouble with the union. This is according to Peter Erskine, who says he knows who did the solo but won't tell because of the union.
theres a clip i saw from whiplash of miles teller playing the final solo, but its recorded live from someones phone so theres no cuts or anything? he did pretty well i remember
You can tell that Questlove guy has gotten to the point where the drum kit and sticks are just an extension of his body. I don't know much about drumming, but he looks like not just a professional drummer, but like an absolute master drummer to me. Why is he doing drum battles with amateurs?
Dang, now I’m just wondering how good a movie’s drumming would have to be for you TO trust it. Great tier list by the way, I’ve always enjoyed Jacksepticeye’s drumming and its nice to see it get some more recognition. As I don’t think a lot of people talk about that talent of his.
I know I was blown away by his cover of Unholy Confessions by Avenged Sevenfold. It was so close to the actual song (aside from his timing being a little fast on some of the double bass parts) but still a good 9/10 cover.
My middle school does a marching bad unit for Memorial Day, and I got put on the 16” bass drum. I obviously can’t see over it so when I was walking home one day after school, (I stayed after school to work on homework so the only people in the back field were “the cool kids”) I didn’t notice I was walking into the one of the garden areas, which are lower than the sidewalk, and I fell. I sprained my arm, cut my lip on my bass drum, and cut my knee up. I have low pain tolerance so I started crying, and all the cool kids laughed like it was a literal comedy show. It’s been 3 ish days and my lip is still swollen 250% of it’s normal size. The cuts in my knee have slightly healed up, and my arm is still black and blue. I came into drum line rehearsal today and the first thing my band director says is “I heard what happened, are you okay?” Contrary to popular belief, there was no “is the drum okay” and he just said “Kids are more important than drums, they can’t be replaced but drums can.”
My screen is smeared with oily super-heal chapstick lotion every time I watch EMC. No, it's not me smooching the screen - I poke the chapstick on it but his lips are still super dry 😢
I remember seeing Radar from MASH play the drums on one episode, he was solid, a jazzer. There's a bunch of celebs that play. Bill Burr plays pretty well. There's a clip of him at a Bohnam festival playing Led Zeppelins "For Your Life" from the Presence album, it's solid work but not a solo.
Dana carvey drumming in Wayne’s world was actually Dana playing they gave him the sticks and told him drum they tweaked a few sounds and that was the end result
For the Impractical Jokers one it was a punishment for losing that episode. But the teacher of the drum team agreed to it without telling the band also as a prank on them. He told them afterwards and they thought it was funny.
Tbh with jacksepticeye he had learned to play drums years before he’d done UA-cam. But i think that video was the first time in years he’d played drums cause he couldn’t have a drum kit in his old house because of space and the area he lived in and noise
I know you probably can't do a reaction to it but if you haven't already (which you may have in researching this episode) watch Jacksepticeye's S.O.A.D cover, it's pretty awesome
Why am I thinking of when Lars Ulrich drags up that famous McBrain guy on stage and they have a little drum battle. Does that count? McBrain has been on children’s programming in the UK. There are least used to be a video on UA-cam.

Jacksepticeye was a metal drummer before he began doing UA-cam. He talked about when he first got his e-kit.
Damn, I thought he just picked up drumming as a side hobby and happened to be good at it. No idea he had a drumming background
I had no idea
@Viola Raised to the Ground (the band Jack played in) is on Spotify. Though with only 4 songs.

Dana Carvey does actually play that drum part in Wayne's World despite movie shenanigans
