freaking idoit teens! boring? old fashion? how bout classic! greatest! Dont get me wrong I like my fair share of 80's pop as well, but I would never diss Sammy, Dean and Frank. I was only 2 years old when this tour happened and now even 24 years later I would have love to see them! Rest in peace! Sammy we your true fans keeping your legacy alive!

I saw the show in New Orleans in January 1989 but Liza Minneli had replaced Dean Martin. Still it was a great show.

I think it's pretty common knowledge now that the real reasons for this tour were 1) to help Sammy financially because he was having big money problems at the time, and 2) to try and help Dean get over the death of his son Dean Paul, who was killed in a plane crash just a few months earlier. Unfortunately this last endeavour was a failure because poor Deans heart just wasn't in it and in his grief he couldn't cope with either the large stadium crowds (as opposed to his usual more intimate club audiences), or the after-show partying that Sinatra and Sammy wanted to indulge in. He left the tour after just a few gigs (and an infamous row with Frank, who famously threw a plate of spaghetti over him) and they had to get Liza Minnelli in to replace him for the rest of the tour.

Really folks, these guys whatever age or place in life were pillars of the movie, music, and entertainment industry. It was pure gold each and every time they stepped on stage, whether together or as individual artists. Dean, Sammy and Frank made us forget our problems for a little awhile. Age is ugly and unmerciful to everyone and all three would be dead within 10 years beginning with Sammy in just two years. Time is fleeting; relish the moment and your memories. Ultimately, it's all we have and can carry to the grave.
