    Lyrics
    Something filled up
    My heart with nothing
Someone told me not to cry
    But now that I'm older
    My heart's colder
And I can see that it's a lie
    Children, wake up
    Hold your mistake up
Before they turn the summer into dust
If the children don't grow up
Our bodies get bigger but our hearts get torn up
We're just a million little gods causing rain storms
Turning every good thing to rust
I guess we'll just have to adjust
With my lightning bolts a glowing
I can see where I am going to be
When the reaper he reaches and touches my hand
With my lightning bolts a glowing
I can see where I am going
With my lightning bolts a glowing
    I can see where I am go-going
    You better look out below!

I used to play cello with a comunitarian orchestra at my hometown in Mexico, my former Cello teacher was murdered by some local mafia by mistake (he wasn't involved in any shady stuff). A couple months after his murder, the comunitarian orchestra threw a concert to honor his memory, this was one of his favorites songs, and part of the closing concert. Thank you Arcade Fire, you keep alive the memory and soul of Mr. Alberto. Greetings from Mexico!

15 years ago, Arcade Fire created a chorus without a single word. Yet, it still holds mountains (beyond mountains HAHA) of power and intensity. Fans across the world can sing this chorus and unite, without having to sing a single word. Arcade Fire holds a talent that is extremely unique and beautiful. Freakin powerful.

This song reminds me of the time in which I was working In the US as a Researcher. My girlfriend and I were having a difficult time due to our long-distance relationship. It was a Thursday, I was working for a deadline on the same day. There was a movie night with pizza in the common area of the University and they were showing 'The secrete life of Walter Mitty'. I just had a call with her. Things were going bad. Everything looked bad. The movie was white noise in the background. Then, the main riff of this song started. The song of the guitar captured me completely. I look up and see Walter taking all of his courage and starting to run, and the chorus of the song explodes. And right inside of me I felt it, the force, the hope, that everything was going to be okay. We broke up a few days later. I had a rough year but I finally feel happy, calm, and on track with my life.

After my friend blasted this song in her car while we were coming back home from high school in 2006, I asked her to lend me her copy of Funeral. That was my first time hearing Wake Up and I had no clue who Arcade Fire were, I only knew that this song sounded phenomenal to me, to the point that I could not believe it was real. We are still good friends today and often meet to go to concerts together eventhough we don't live in the same city anymore.

    lyrics
    something filled up
    my heart with nothing
    and someone
    told me not to cry
    but now that
    im older
    my hearts
    colder
    and I can
    see that it's a lie
    *chorus*
    children
    wake up
    hold your
    mistake up
    before they
    turn the summer into dust
    if the children
    dont grow up
    our body's get big our
    hearts get torn up
were just a million little gods causing rain storm! turning every thing good to rust
I guess well just have to adjust
    *chorus*
with my lightning bolts a glowing
I can see where I am going to be the reaper he reaches and touches my hand

When my dog who was with me through my teenage years passed the run of this song kept me moving. I wrote a poem to the tune of the lyrics.
Now that, I'm older. My heart, has grown colder. But I'd give, all to hold her, And to feel her by my side.
In her eyes, was beauty. In her mind, a duty. In her heart, was a love, that will never die.
I see her, in the trees. I hear her, in the breeze. I feel her, inside me, and it reminds me I'm still alive.
