I've always loved this song. It's so dark and fitting for what anxiety can feel like. The lyric "just listen to your friends, they only care and hope you're alright" is so comforting.
i don't usually comment on videos but this song resonates with me. i was released from the hospital for a suicide attempt and now i feel like i have to go back to how life was before and i still struggle with feeling like no one cares, and then feeling guilty because they do care and they almost lost me. just a lot of feelings from this song.
Hi Charlie, I'm really sorry to hear that. I really am. I know what you mean, no should ever go through something like that. You posted this months ago, I'm just a stranger and I think everyone says stuff like "your life matters" so much that it sometimes seems like those are just words without much meaning, but as someone who has felt at least somewhat worthless and who's had quite a few dark thoughts, I hope you believe I'm someone who probably understands you. If you do, please believe me when I say that you do matter, that your life does matter, that you deserve to live. I hope you can feel the love your friends and family give to you, I hope you feel like they care and hope you're alright (: please don't hurt yourself again, try to be nice to yourself. I don't usually comment on videos either I'm sorry if I talked to much. I hope you're doing great Charlie!

I believe that Dan had said that this song was about leaving home, and returning to have everything different. He's afraid of leaving his comfort zone, simply because he does not want what he has to change. "Are you drifting way beyond what’s normal? / 'Cause 'round your mind rings the words that they would say? / When you go home everything looks different, / And you're scared of being left behind." As he is away from home, he's afraid that his friends and family will move on without him and leave him behind, while his mind keeps reminding him of things they would say.

I listened to the draw in 2017, now 5 years later I can relate to it a lot especially when i visited my hometown briefly after 2 years of living in a different bigger city. Bastille are part of my life and BAD BLOOD will be my youth forever

These lyrics really describe what it feels like to have severe OCD. Especially how the song starts as a soft, steady hum until it escalates and at the end the beat gets really fast and overwhelming and consuming. It's like the thoughts of an obsession you can't get away from.
I know it's not the intent with which Dan wrote this song, but to me, it perfectly describes depression. My own, to be exact. I've been better for a little while, but lately I can feel it pulling me back. I don't know it fits my personal situation and feelings perfectly.

The worst part is when you don't know that you're sad until you laugh and realize you haven't done so in a really long time. I've been feeling a lot better lately as well and I've realized that there are so many more depressed people out there than I thought. That's why I think its important to try and lift people's spirits as much as possible and help them through times of crisis. :)
Interesting. To me it fits a drug addiction. True, bastille does many depression songs, but not this one.
this is exactly how i feel and i always listen to this song when im at my worst and questioning whether i want to keep living. it really explains how i feel towards everything with the "listen to your friends.." and "don't listen to your friends..." parts.

The second verse is from the Familiar and it says "If you pick the unknown, you're home won't look the same and you'll be left behind by those who didn't pick the same as you" The Draw is being torn between both and not being sure. This song and the meaning behind it makes me love Bastille even more.~

I always visualize this song as the "pull" or being "drawn" towards an addiction. Something you've stayed away from for a long time but you suddenly find yourself tempted by it again. And the thoughts & words that race through your mind as you're trying to talk yourself out of being tempted by it.
