    Lyrics:
    Rhythm is a dancer; it's a soul's companion
    People feel it everywhere
    Lift your hands and voices
Free your mind and join us
You can feel it in the air
    Oh-oh, it's a passion
Oh-oh, you can feel it in the air
    Oh-oh, it's a passion
    Oh-oh, oh, oh, oh
(This is the rhythm) You can put some joy up on my face
Oh, sunshine in an empty place
Take me to, turn to and babe, I'll make you stay (-night, -night, oh yeah-eh-eh)
Oh, I can ease you of your pain
Feel you give me love again
    Round and round we go
Each time I hear you say
"This is the rhythm of the night, the night, oh, yeah
    The rhythm of the night
This is the rhythm of my life, my life, oh, yeah
    The rhythm of my life"
This is the rhythm of the night, the night, oh, yeah
    The rhythm of the night
This is the rhythm of my life, my life, oh, yeah
    The rhythm of my life
Won't you teach me how to love and learn?
There'll be nothing left for me to yearn
    Think of me and burn
And let me hold your hand (-night, -night, oh yeah-eh-eh)
I don't want to face the world in tears
Please think again, I'm on my knees
    Sing that song to me
    No reason to repent
This is the rhythm of the night, the night, oh, yeah
    The rhythm of the night
This is the rhythm of my life, my life, oh, yeah
    The rhythm of my life
This is the rhythm of the night, the night, oh, yeah
    The rhythm of the night
This is the rhythm of my life, my life, oh, yeah
    The rhythm of my life
This is the rhythm of the night, the night, oh, yeah
    The rhythm of the night
This is the rhythm of my life, my life, oh, yeah
    The rhythm of my life
This is the rhythm of the night, the night, oh, yeah

If you don't understand the video, it's about a man who is in the CSI, he sees murder and suicide every day, gradually, this gets to be overwhelming, and soon, the man get's depressed. He has had enough of seeing all the cruelty this world has to share, and ends it all by committing suicide, if you're wondering what this has to do with the lyrics, in the chorus it says 'This is the rhythm of my life,' what this is saying is that this is how he lives, he sees a variation of death each day (Like a rhythm changes through a song.) Also, the distorted voice is the man going crazy, growing more depressed and depressed until he sees the world like a different place. This is actually a very sad story, and it really shows how cruel this world is. (This all my thoughts and knowledge, it may not be correct but I think this is what it is showing us.)

So what I'm getting from the music video is that it's literally the Rhythm Of The Night. It's about a detective who works at night, so he sees essentially the pattern. Which also goes with the second line, "This is the rhythm of my life." He sees that it's always the same and doesn't change. And I think this explains the ending, which is that he realizes it's never going to change and so he kills himself. I also just realized that the dead bodies speaking might symbolize that death is calling out to him or he's nearing death.

To people not understanding the video, It's about how the man keeps interacting with dead people, throughout the whole night his job keeps leading him to people that are dead, one after the other; in rythem. Throughout the video you can see him struggling with his job which leads to depression thus commiting suicide. He also struggles with the fact that his job is to try and prevent these deaths but as hard as he tries still fails making him even more depressed. So yeah.

I'm not sure if this is the case, but it also feels like the whole song is a sort of play on words, or a play on meaning, at least. The tone of the song, the style and some of the lyrics all sort of suggest it to be a song about partying, as most pop songs are these days. The song is sort of showing how when you hear songs referring to the night, it's always partying getting drunk, etc. but there is a whole other side to the night - robbery, suicide, violence, etc. So this song and it's video is sort of showing the other side of the coin, and how the night isn't always glamorous.

    THE MEANING OF THIS SONG:
this song is about a man who has a rough life. He works crime scene investigation, looking at hundreds of murder cases throughout the week. He sees suicides and many gruesome deaths. At night, he thinks of all the things he’s seen. Eventually, he feels so alone, cast out into the world. He is so deep in depression he eventually commits suicide. The song is a huge circle of life. Death always finds its way into our lives in one way or another.

Love the originals. My parents had them in the car when i was a kid. Hearing this version brought back some awesome memories of simpler time. Bastille have re-imagined Rhythm is a dancer/Rhythm of the night and made it in their style (which i love) and sung by the awesome Dan, it ticks all the boxes for me.
The end just gives me shivers and cant help and replay it.
Best song of 2013 despite it being a re-imagining of 2 90s classics. Pompeii and Naughty Boy - La La La are up there too.

This song isn't created to replace the older versions of the songs. this is Bastille's take on the songs and if you don't like it then its your opinion. The older versions are still there for you to listen to and this version is for those who prefer it. You are entitled to your own opinion but if you are only expressing to to offend people then you should voice it a little less. Personally I love this version.

The story(not sure, I interpret it this way): The Detective is trying his best to find out the person who caused all of the deaths of the victims. Everytime the detective went to the scene to investigate the case, it's as if the dead victims are talking to him, and the murderer is just in the crowd, but he don't know who it is and can't do anything about it. The murderer carries on killing without being caught and the detective who investigates the places still could not find the murdered, and even worse, the faces of the victims haunts him at night when he sleeps. He starts believing that he himself is the cause of their death (indirectly) as he is unable to arrest and stop another victim from being killed, till the point that he couldn't take it anymore and decides to commit suicide.

Dominika Potter : There is always some sort of fantastic music being made, all the time. Just because it is not crossing your radar does not mean it isn't out there; poke around, Google the newest bands in genres you like, look up "bands to check out if you like [x]," "bands that sound like [x]," etc. Pay more attention to the background music in videos you see on UA-cam, Facebook, Twitter, wherever. To say that no good music is being made now just means your scope isn't looking wide enough.

I had a look online for the analysis of the video, and you're more or less right. Due to the long, late nights of having to deal with murders and dead bodies, coupled with lack of sleep and older age, he seemed to have developed some sort of brief stress-induced psychosis where he sees the dead bodies singing to some random song and the bystanders and policemen dancing. In the end I think he figured out it was probably time to retire as a detective, but before he did that he was either shot himself (not sure if it was fatal or not), or committed suicide due to the distress it caused him, but likely the former...

This song is actually quite genius since it blends these classics like they never even were two completely different songs.

    Tearing up..
I started a Criminalistics major in college but had to change once I opened the first book. Not every case is a criminal.

    • @redstars555
      @redstars555 11 років тому

Is that like forensics? or does it have to do more with the law and morality?

    • @EnglishCoffee
      @EnglishCoffee 11 років тому +4

It's hands on things. It's on the forensics spectrum.. but being in the action and knowing about it, too. Like, you go up to the scene and label evidence then take pictures. You're the person who maps everything out and sets it up then analyzes what's there. Crime scene stuff. Blood splatter analyzing, cause and effect, plus much more.
Then you have to know about the laws as well (because you're technically a law student too. You have to know and play by those rules.)
There's a wide field in that major- even medical (rape kits, therapist/consoling, etc.) which you learn as you go.

Vearya Vat You're seriously asking about it on UA-cam? Why not just Google it or some ^.^

    • @EnglishCoffee
      @EnglishCoffee 10 років тому

Vearya Vat To answer your question: yes and no. Not every case is a criminal (but it starts off that way.)
My professor said they got a call one day about a car in a lake. Divers went down, opened the door, and a baby popped out at him. So.. you have to think about cases like that where there are just accidents in the end.

All the people complaining that this remake is a ruined version are missing the point. What is amazing that when you alter the context of the exact same word, you can create a brand new song. A new story. Corona sang a song about dancing. Bastille transformed the song into the life lived by a person how gets to see only the tragedy of life. Stop being ignorant and understand art.

    • @Harkz0r
      @Harkz0r 11 років тому +2

I agree, but I don't think Corona's song was about dancing. I think it was about pining after someone romantically that only wanted her sexually (or was depressed and unable to open up) and kept breaking things off. I do prefer this version though, it's far more atmospheric and strangely addictive.

"Of the Night" is a medley of two 1990s dance songs, "The Rhythm of the Night" by Italian band Corona and "Rhythm Is a Dancer" by German eurodance group Snap!

    I am a 90s dance addict...
I love the Corona version, I love this version equally, Bastille have made it their own as they do with each and every cover they take on, and Dans voice is simple yet beautiful.
Im a professional singer, and tbh I love covering songs in my own style, thats what music is there for, to be appreciated and honoured and interpreted in our own way.

    Rhythm is a dancer,
    It's a souls companion,
    People feel it everywhere,
    Lift your hands and voices,
Free your mind and join us,
You can feel it in the air,
    Oh woah
    It's a passion
    Oh oh
    You can feel it yeah
    Oh oh
    It's a passion,
    Oh oh, oh, oh, oh,
You can put some joy up on my face,
Oh sunshine in an empty place,
Take me too, turn to and babe I'll make you stay,
    (Oh yeah)
Oh I can ease you of your pain,
Feel you give me love again,
    Round and round we go,
Each time I hear you say,
This is the rhythm of the night,
    The night,
    Oh yeah,
    The rhythm of the night,
This is the rhythm of my life,
    My life,
    Oh yeah,
    The rhythm of my life,
This is the rhythm of the night,
    The night,
    Oh yeah,
    The rhythm of the night,
This is the rhythm of my life,
    My life,
    Oh yeah,
    The rhythm of my life,
Wont you teach me how to love and learn,
There'll be nothing left for me to yearn,
Think of me and burn and let me hold your hand
    Oh yeah-ah-eh,
I don't want to face the world in tears,
Please think again, I'm on my knees,
Sing that song to me, no reason to repent
This is the rhythm of the night,
    The night,
    Oh yeah,
    The rhythm of the night,
This is the rhythm of my life,
    My life,
    Oh yeah,
    The rhythm of my life,
This is the rhythm of the night,
    The night,
    Oh yeah,
    The rhythm of the night,
This is the rhythm of my life,
    My life,
    Oh yeah,
    The rhythm of my life,
This is the rhythm of the night,
    The night,
    Oh yeah,
    The rhythm of the night,
This is the rhythm of my life,
    My life,
    Oh yeah,
    The rhythm of my life,
This is the rhythm of the night,
