Yes you do, the videos are farther back in the time line, Just found them. Abashiri to Tokyo is 20 hours by car on Google maps.
1:33:15 国道334号（道道93号交点） この天候で知床峠まで行っても何も見えなかったので仕方なかったと感じました。
開発局が通行止めにしてなかったので積雪・凍結までは無かったと思いますが、無難な判断だったと思います。
I don't think there was snow or freezing because the road administrator didn't close the road, but I think it was a safe decision.
