Hey I have a video suggestion that would help most people, do you think you can do a video on the a rooted expanded scale shape I use the e rooted one you taught but I don’t know the a rooted
Bro, I am so grateful for you. After subscribing to so many platforms of guitar education, yours has by far been the most effective and some to understand and apply. I did my free trial and and will become a Kamper in the near future.
Kerry too smooth, you are too smooth. Thank you for your lessons. Being able to sit here and learn a little bit has helped keep me focused even in other areas of my life. You are an excellent teacher and I am grateful for your work and that I get to learn from you. I have made it a goal of mine to be able to play along side you one of these days. God bless you, your family, and your music.
I know I'm late here and this might be common knowledge but I found that the diminished chord works incredibly well when played before a major 6 chord a half step down, the chords have such similar DNA and it sounds so good to my ears
Great, great lesson. Diminished chord are always a source of confusion for me and you cleared that up and gave a nice practical example of its use. Definitely putting all that in my bag of tricks.
As a bass player starting to play around with the gat your tutorials have been the most beneficial for me,the chords with flavor and feel, appreciate it so much, chur!
Wow, my mind is getting opened up here. I’ve been watching the number system videos also. I just realized I can play this progression Am-Bm-Em with that diminished and solo over it with the notes in G major. Particularly that Gmajor pentatonic approach. I’ve viewed the neck through the caged system for a while now but this just opened up a new look/approach. Loving it, much appreciated
I feel like you express these concepts nicely. Your lectures feel like I’m hear a direct line from your creativeness. That makes you relevant, and there’s your comment.
Good morning Brotha! Thanks for the lesson. I'm a struggling longtime beginner. Many of your lessons keep me from giving up. Just wanted say that & thank you Man & I'm back to practicing. I really want to get this lesson down..& alot more.. But this one is special. For about 2yrs I've been trying to tune myself to your so anxious lesson for practice when I fall off in a rutt for one reason or another & when I grab my guitar to return to my dream.. I go to that lesson to snap back. & that diminished chord is the part that I love to hear a play the most. Whenever I achieve to be the guitarist I'd like to become.. I'd like to meet you and shake your hand & play a song or 2 wit'cha. Have a good day Brotha! & Thanks again.
Used previous advice on the diminished chord. People think I know what I'm doing. The diminished 7 rooted on the 5th string kills it too. Had used them in ' Sara smile', but you helped me along Kerry!
Kerry your passion and knowledge is helping others release their inner gifts and capabilities! You've been such a major help and I'm absolutely loving my experience on Kerry's Kamp. Even the beginner lessons as an intermediate guitarist have been so helpful. Please do a cover of "If it ain't you" by the amazing Alicia Keys! I'm curious to see what your style is to capture the chord progression and lead notes altogether!
Hello Kerry. You put out a video whereby you used and minor V chord instead of a Major V chord. I ran across it but was not able to watch it without distractions. Please point me to that video. Thanks. Keep up the great teaching.
Kerry my brother blessings your way, and upon your entire household my friend. Thanks for the impartation of your knowledge and skill set, now may you receive from others the same way. You give inspiration to us all who watch, and love what you do my brother. Also where can I order your instructional book?
Another great lesson Kerry...but I'm greedy. Not uncommon for me to drop FOUR sliding Dim chords in fast succession coming out of a progression like this one. Been playing almost 50 years now so I won't be changing anytime soon...😏
CAN YOU PLEASE A LESSON JUST FOR HAMMON ONS YOUR DOING IT ALLOT AND I UNDERSTAND IT BUT NO ONE EVER TALKS ABOUT HOW TO DO IT, THEY ASSUME PEOPLE KNOW HOW AND WHEN TO DO IT.... can you please make a video explaining why you are adding the extra notes to some if not all the chords? Thank you.
Awesome video Smooth! Diminished chords are always tricky but you lay it out for us to play it out 🙏🏻 Appreciate your teachings and styles you bring to the guitar 🤙🏻
Good lesson. I learned a song called sara smile that uses dim between the 2vand 3. But are there any cool ways to use dim chords to modulate?edit stars smile uses it between 5 and 6. My bad
I'm going through the E major scale... I'm striving to locate the d#° equivalent. If BFlat is also A#, what Is the D#° alternative? Please and Thank You
Hi Kerry , i post the question a couple of time in the livestreams but i never get an answer from you... so , again , i would like to know what is the fretboards radius that you are most comfortable to play with and why. Second , do you think that this paramater can influence -make easier or harder-the way this type of music is played on guitar ?(r&b on a 10 radius vs a 20 radius for example , with all those hammer on and pull off) thanks
How can I get the other guys in the band on board with my use of the chord? Usually they all give me a dirty look and say “that’s not the right chord” or they say “no it’s a minor”. How do I know if I’m right
Using that particular diminished chord (the one on the 4th string between the second and third) would only work if then resolving to a 2 or 4 chord in a key, yes? Diminished chords are best used when you resolve to a chord a half step up from any note in the diminished chord you've just played?
Would you say that you are using the diminished chord to spice up the 6th chord? Or can the diminished chord show up after other chords of the progression?
Great lesson Kerry ! There’s a song called ‘marry me’ by an R&B artist Rileyy lanez if you could do a break down on that song I’d be grateful great lesson !!
Thanks for watching this lesson. Let me know if this tip will help you and leave your questions below! Please consider being a subscriber if you're not. I post a new lesson every Tuesday.

Kerry 2, you're style, your illustrations of how you play r&b are great! I tune in to your videos all the time. Keep up the great work.
New to the channel, and I'm diggin' the content. Keep up the great work.
You use diminesh after three chors like 2 3 6 and end 1st diminesh and 2nd diminesh
"I want to make guitar simple for myself." Words to live by.
25 years of never playing diminished, and now I can without thinking :)....that is genius..thanks a lot! Just startin' in on R & B....slow learner
I love the way you explain the diminished chord thanks so much Smooth! 👍✌️& ❤️🎸
I’m familiar with diminished chords in the context of metal playing but not much else. This was super helpful for r&b and other styles
I’m glad this helped!
Nice change...thanks for sharing
Thanks K2 Smooth... I need more of this. Still in rehearsal phase
Great lesson.

Pause for the cause. Love it!
I know I'm late here and this might be common knowledge but I found that the diminished chord works incredibly well when played before a major 6 chord a half step down, the chords have such similar DNA and it sounds so good to my ears
This just upped my game. I will be overusing the diminished chords til its automatic. Thanks!!

Great, great lesson. Diminished chord are always a source of confusion for me and you cleared that up and gave a nice practical example of its use. Definitely putting all that in my bag of tricks.

really good explanation!
Bro this video helped a lot!!!🙌🏽 Great advice and you explained it well. Much appreciated! Definitely gonna use this
Used previous advice on the diminished chord. People think I know what I'm doing. The diminished 7 rooted on the 5th string kills it too. Had used them in ' Sara smile', but you helped me along Kerry!
half diminished and diminished are my favourite chords by far, i'm guilty of using them too much at times
Thank you for the lesson!
Great Video! In what position do use it when root is on the second string
THANKS!!!
Thanks bro
Thanks for clearing that up! It’s very helpful. Could you make a video using the same this but the root on the 5th string?
It’s available on my website kerryskamp.com
Ok thanks

Once again, a great lesson. How would you combine diminished chords with minor 11th's and 13th's or suspended chords? Thanks.
Sam
Same concept
Thanks man! Great tip.
great stuff Fayetteville much Love Freshwater Records
Woww i always wanted to ask if you could use a telecaster for r&b and I’m guessing you can lol
Hello Kerry. You put out a video whereby you used and minor V chord instead of a Major V chord. I ran across it but was not able to watch it without distractions. Please point me to that video. Thanks. Keep up the great teaching.

Thank you. I don’t have a book I have an website you should check it out. Kerryskamp.com
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL 😍😍😍. My guitar playing is more blues inspired than anything. How do i move to RnB from there?
Could you do some examples of how to play these type of chords in a Gospel/CCM environment?
Been also looking for gospel stuff too brother.
Another great lesson Kerry...but I'm greedy. Not uncommon for me to drop FOUR sliding Dim chords in fast succession coming out of a progression like this one. Been playing almost 50 years now so I won't be changing anytime soon...😏

Dope. Is there a video on those gospel hammer-on patterns? I'd transcribe it but I haven't had a lot of time lately.
Would you please do a tutorial on Yearning For Your Love by MAZE
Do the same concept apply as well to the key of C, D, E when playing in a major 7 position
Awesome video Smooth! Diminished chords are always tricky but you lay it out for us to play it out 🙏🏻 Appreciate your teachings and styles you bring to the guitar 🤙🏻
Is it correct that your using the diminished chord as a passing chord on your way through the progression? Thanks for your wisdom Sir
Hails Boss, Do you use augmented chords? And if so, when do you use them?
Good lesson. I learned a song called sara smile that uses dim between the 2vand 3. But are there any cool ways to use dim chords to modulate?edit stars smile uses it between 5 and 6. My bad
I'm going through the E major scale... I'm striving to locate the d#° equivalent.
If BFlat is also A#, what Is the D#° alternative? Please and Thank You
i appreciate this alot. but how would u use in a normal gospel or quartet progression ?
What pick ups do you use on your telecaster though?
Hi Kerry , i post the question a couple of time in the livestreams but i never get an answer from you... so , again ,
i would like to know what is the fretboards radius that you are most comfortable to play with and why.

Each guitar is different. I personally don’t know off hand. Sorry I missed your question.
What brand is your guitar?
How do you find it when your root is on the 5th string ?
How can I get the other guys in the band on board with my use of the chord? Usually they all give me a dirty look and say “that’s not the right chord” or they say “no it’s a minor”. How do I know if I’m right
First off if it’s sounds right when you use it. It has to make the music feel good. You can’t just put it anywhere.
So cool. So simple. So effective. So motivating. So beautifully explained. Question. ... How can no-one else do this so well?
Using that particular diminished chord (the one on the 4th string between the second and third) would only work if then resolving to a 2 or 4 chord in a key, yes? Diminished chords are best used when you resolve to a chord a half step up from any note in the diminished chord you've just played?
Would you say that you are using the diminished chord to spice up the 6th chord? Or can the diminished chord show up after other chords of the progression?
You all got to check out karrys camp
still learning from your videos bro
Great lesson Kerry ! There’s a song called ‘marry me’ by an R&B artist Rileyy lanez if you could do a break down on that song I’d be grateful great lesson !!
How would you jam to a gospel Hammond b3
Nice video. My question is what if I'm playing in the key of C. Will the diminished be in the same position between Dminor and Eminor?
If you C is rooted in the 5 string Then is suggest use the C_# dim7
Can you show the number system chords with a 5th string root?
