  • Martha Raye introduces Chad and Jeremy seen here on 'Hollywood Palace' (aired April 2nd, 1966) having recently reunited after a several month absence from charts and screen. They perform "Distant Shores" here for the second time in under a month on network tv, yet it wouldn't be released as a single until June.

My sister took me to their concert in Annapolis...she "kidnapped me" -- having me put a date on the calendar and make myself available...I did. We got to the Ram's Head and she pointed to the poster...I was so excited...these guys were such a part of my life. It's a memory I'll always cherish. This song is awesome!

It was my biggest honor and greatest pleasure to have had performed with Chad & Jeremy in their Manila Concerts a couple of yeas ago with my band "Area 1". They were so nice and friendly! "Distant Shores" is still my favorite song.
Although Area 1 is a Beatle tribute band, it plays songs it had performed with our idols, like chad & Jeremy, Cascades, Peter & Gordon. All in Manila! Check out my videos under "John Lesaca" "Girl" McCartney Medley" "While my guitar". Hope you like them!
    CHEERS!

thanks for preserving this classic distant shore. I sing this with my guitar as i enjoy it only over the radio.not much of live music before and this the first time i saw them singing it in action. if this was in 1966 and i am now 56, then it was 43 years ago. that was when i was 13. Oh..time has slipped away so fast. The song remains the same..Philippines

Yesterday's Gone was my first album (and I still have it), A Summer Song is my all-time favorite song, and Distant Shores is my all-time favorite romantic song. I remember listening to this song one summer night, sitting on the dock of a small lake in Maine and dreaming about kissing my high school boyfriend, Sigh.....

I got to see Chad and Jeremy live in person on 5-17-66, at Salina, Kansas's Memorial Hall. They were one of the many rock and roll acts touring with The Gene Pitney Show.

Trivia: Chad and Jeremy performed part of this lovely ballad on the Batman show in the 1960's. I forget which episode it was, but the Catwoman was in it.

Pure, simple, & to the point with plenty of sentiment. Even though I only heard this song once or twice in my 49 years of existance, decades ago, I still remember it even after all I've been through. When I was a little kid in the 60's I heard & saw Chad & Jeremy sing this song in an episode of Batman when Catwoman stole their voices. How I long for 1966! It was my favorite year!

I've been hooked on their music ever since first seeing them on Batman. Even if that was 1967 and I was born in '72, so what? The coolest thing to Simon & Garfunkel :)

Wow I never thought of that. I love them both...in fact, my two favorite concerts of 2007 were The Clientele at Maxwell's in Hoboken and Chad & Jeremy somewhere in Rhode Island. That latest Clientele album is so gorgeous.

Notice how they smile at each other when one misses a line near the beginning (sounds of tomorrow from yesterday) and just move on without missing a beat.
    Very cool professionals.

So simple, straightforward and perfect.. Not too complicated like the songs today.. They look like they are just playing in the garage (with the exemptions of the suit) all they need are themselves and their guitars to make a perfect song.

love the 1966 formal musical fashion - skinny pants, beatle boots, groovy round-cut jackets -- i would go clubbing like that anyttime ! song has a nice & slightly trippy ending, too, with the indian-inspired minor chords. Only 45 years ago, & truly great music is already extinct....

It looks like Jeremy is playing a fender acoustic guitar also they probably got a Endorsement deal with Fender because Chad is planned a fender bassWhen they’re around the Batman show they had Fender amplifiers in the background

The Simon & Garfunkel reference is very true since Chad & Jeremy almost recorded "Homeward Bound" before S & G did. C & J decided to record "Ballad of a Teenage Failure" instead. Love C & J stuff!

Even if this was before my time, I could STILL care less! I've been hooked ever since watching them on Batman as a little kid, their music is so mellow, so serene, and yet, SO lyrical, I'd put them right up there with Petula Clark, Jethro Tull, Lulu, the Fifth Dimension, Lovin' Spoonful, the Who, and the 1960's Bossa Nova :)

I just saw these sods singing this song on an episode of Batman. Catwoman somehow stole their voices. To cut a long story short, they turned out to be bigger than Jesus and they got their voices back. They then had to go back to England and pay income tax.
A good couple of episodes. 9.4 out of 10.
