Keith, Chad and I (Clive Metcalfe) wrote this sixty years ago and as I approach my 80th birthday it's still wonderful to know so many people still love our song.
I was born in 1962 far to young to remember but the 60s are by far my favorite era in music. So many wonderful artists. I haven't listened to contemporary music in 20 years. Music stopped being wonderful by the late 80s.
I saw Chad and Jeremy live in person when they were touring with The Gene Pitney Show on 5_17_66 at Salina,Kansas's Memorial Hall along with some other stars of that era.
🤔When in was in school The Beatles had Yesterday, Gerry and The Pacemakers had Don't Let The Sun Catch you Crying and Chad and Jeremy had A Summer Song. WOW! Don't you feel sorry for today's generation. 😁😆😅
On this day in 1964 {August 15th} "A Summer Song" by Chad and Jeremy entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #7 and spent 14 weeks on the Top 100... Between 1964 and 1966 the duo had eleven Top 100 hits, with "Summer Song" being the only one to make the Top 10... It reached #6 on the Canadian RPM Tracks chart... Chad Stuart will celebrate his 72nd birthday in four months on December 10th and Jeremy Clyde turned 72 this past March 22nd...
I remember seeing Jeremy in a play called, 'Conduct Unbecoming'. The whole cast was very good. I've always luved Chad & Jeremy and like to play their songs on my guitar.
I always sang this song. W.my buddy celso llarina .my fav. A lot of memories behind this song.i was a teen .w.lotsa. dream.one of them is beeing a good singer n songwriter. Luv u guys. U r awesome
My computer isn't letting me give thumbs up and I want to say how wonderful to Jim Coope on here and his bride. What a great ending to your love story! :-) I dedicated this to John Lennon the night he was killed, the radio was about all the emotional support you could find if you couldn't go to NY and stand near the Dakota. No, l never met the Beatles, but was a huge fan - as were all my friends - and we were just kids then. You guys still sing this beautifully!! :-)
I have just discovered these guys on Pandora,I like there stuff,46 year old just finding out about them , very groovy..I see where "the stone roses" might have gotten there muse from..
How sweet to hear them do this song so well after all these years, truly great performance. My thanks to them for doing the good work to maintain this level of artistry, and for touring and sharing. Hope to see them in live concert one day.
My thoughts are chad and jermy give me lesson on guitar my classmate keith mellock we're glad to use your music and you were great thanks guys michael Flannery in lansdowne pa thanks again .
@jimcoope You are so lucky. I never able to find my first love since I left Vietnam back in 1972 ( I've tried ) I have been married but I still remember her...Only God know where she is.
The 1960's....Take my Date to a hamburger shop then to Putt Put golf...The ice cream shop for 6 cent a dip Peppermint. Then that Heavenly good nite 💋 kiss.🥰 The Age of innocense😁

Not just an opinion. You’re right.
As Chad once said, this is the song that won't die. It brings back so many wonderful memories of first love.
RIP Chad. Goodnight to you too

As Good as Ever. Chad & Jeremy - A Summer Song. One of the very best songs ever. Sing it for America as we enter the Great Fall.

Mucha lástima! Los ingleses dando todo en la música, como solistas, en duetos, en grupos. Que regresen las olas una y otra vez
