    Got that mega tutorial in the vault ready to drop? For the Rytm mkii? I think it would be cool to do a 4x4 style mega tutorial. Like house and or techno. I almost got a jomox alpha base, then opted for something more versatile. But I think watching you do a mega tutorial in the style of something more 4x4 with all your quirks would be something spectacular. Tweaking the analog base kick then adding a sample over it for extra oompfh that the clubbers love. Thanks cuckoo, for constantly inspiring the masses. 🔊✨ ( ps bought some merchandise and can’t wait to walk around with a club cuckoo shirt and hopefully catch someone being like; “ hey! How’s goods cuckoo!”, or “who’s cuckoo?”.. well let me show u this legend. ✨🤣🤟🏻🥳🔊🎶🥇

    A comparison with the Digitakt would be useful as there is now a lot of overlap between the featuresets. Is it worth the massive price jump over the DT? Is the sampling engine as fancy as the DT? As the OT? This new RYTM seems to be ticking more boxes than ever so it would be nice to know whether this can replace the DT or even the OT. Also, love your videos; they're hugely inspirational! And thanks to you, I'm loving my DT :) I'll be sad if I get GAS for this as a replacement tho as the DT is so quick and fun!

    • @collinv1877
      @collinv1877 6 років тому +4

      The Rytm has no digital wave display on the OLED during sample editing, but may be included in OS update. The DT still has no way to save CHAINS or create and save SONGS in a much needed SONG MODE.

    - Is it possible to make a setup entirely made of samples on all the pads, ie 12 samples/sounds to be played? Elektron only writes about the ability to layer samples over the analog sounds.
    - Can you connect keys to play chromatically? If so, how good does this work?
    - Is there a full song mode or just pattern chaining?
    - Is it possible to process external sound through the audio ins?

    • @masedrums

    I'd like to see mostly sound design in the context of the onboard synth and the onboard instruments .
    Why would someone want it versus a Vermona DRM1 in terms of making interesting sounds (not just sample workflow)? One attraction is that I assume I can modulate the instruments over time and via midi.

    Hey Sir.Cuckoo!!! Do you know if sequencing from the Analog Keys in Song Mode could arrange and sync with part in the Digitakt? As it lacks of song mode... Also is it posible to change the Tempo? Thanks man! You're the best!!!

    • @truecuckoo
      @truecuckoo  6 років тому

      Yes, the Digitakt can follow the Analog Four in song mode. But in the current Digitakt firmware (1.04?) there’s a bug where the Digitakt is not following correctly, and changing patterns late. It’ll be taken care of in a software update. However the Analog Keys current firmware cannot set the tempo. So the tempo has to be managed manually I’m afraid.

      It always depends on what you want to do with the instrument. Assuming you want an instrument capable of producing entire tracks on its own, you're probably maybe ruling out the Analog Four because it only has 4 voices and the Digitakt for lack of song mode. The Rytm is a very hands on instrument and has lots of voices to give you complexity, but it's mainly a drum machine, so if you want lots of synths, it's probably not the best choice for you. The Octratrack is probably the one that is best suited as producing tracks on its own because of the amount of functionalities, but it can be difficult to get into the mindset of its inner workings. If you have other gear to pair it with, then anything goes, again, it all depends on what you want/need.

    • @midilyfestyle
      @midilyfestyle 6 років тому

      And for tutorial suggestions, I’m sure you’ll do these, but: sampling through the inputs from start to finish, the limits of assigning an external midi controller, cool things to do with the cv/pedal inputs, using the drum engines to send cv triggers as was introduced in the Mk I, using the macro performance knob to jump samples (either by jumping around a sample chain or by jumping to new sample slots octa-style if possible), and snappy snare / non-annoying hat sound design with the analog engines (which were the weakest link of the Mk I’s synthesis IMO) would all be awesome. Takk!

    At first I was like, "Wow, I'd really like to own one of these, I wonder how much it costs." Then I was like, "Holy F! It's $1550! Ok... wow..."
    Cuckoo, I own an OP-1 and a set of Roli Blocks. What sub $1000 hardware would you recommend to me next, to delve into music making without massive complication. I love how easy it is to make tunes with both the OP-1 and the Roli Seaboard/Lightblock(plus Live and loop blocks), and a big part of that has to do with how intuitive the hardware is to use, as well as how versatile the machines are for manipulating sound.
    I'd really like your suggestion on hardware that would pair well with the devices I currently have.
    Thanks in advance, Cuckoo.

      They’re the same, but the new one can sample like the Digitakt. it’s got better pads, and better access to that Quick Performance knob. Supposedly the signal chain is sliiightly improved, but I haven’t tested them side by side yet, so I don’t know how audible it is. The old Rytm is more compact, and easier to pack due to the boxed shape.

      Daniel Regan Thorpe no it doesn’t sequence externally, only internally

      thank you for your response! so the octatrack might be a better option for syncing my hardware?

      Daniel Regan Thorpe Or the Digitakt. Octatrack can’t save tempo information with patterns, Digitakt can. Not sure if that’s the reason, but I do see that Cuckoo seems to use the Digitakt, not his OT to sequence hardware when he’s using both of them in a Live set

    On the octatrack you can fade between 2 scenes and change the scene slots on the fly...does the rytm mk2 have its own way to do this? Great video and playing as usual 🤙🤘🏼🤖

      On the Rytm, all scenes can be active simultaneously. Rather than fading between A and B Octatrack style, you’ve got 12 scenes that can independently move from 0-127. (Although there’s a maximum number of parameters in total that can be set up, I think.)

      Cuckoo, I hope you go into explaining more about what you said here when you do the mega tutorial video. I look forward to it. Thanks.

      I never made it 😬 felt like I was repeating myself since not too much had changed from MKI. But by now, maybe I should revisit the idea!

    cuckoo, since I'm in the low income group, (retired), is there some other device that will give me drums only; or something similar to this?
    I have a Worlde Easypad.12 but I can't find any of my software or hardware to make it work. It has a USB connector for output.

      Take a look at the Korg Volca series, and perhaps Novation Circuit. Also there are some great Pocket Operators for drums, like the PO-32.

    Is there any significant difference between mk1 and mk2 apart from the sampling and better pads?

      A few more dedicated buttons, OLED screen, balanced inputs.
