  • This is an up close view of a 2010 Polaris Sportsman 850 XP PVT(Polaris Variable Transmission) Clutch System. This video will show you how your clutch moves and drives your sportsman. Notice as the primary clutch spins & the belt should not move or have very little movement. When the engine gets to 1600-1800 RPM it will engage the belt therfore pinching the belt and engaging the secondary clutch. If you have any questions feel free to comment. (I will be making a How-To video on changing your belt on your Sportsman 550/850 XP.) This is coming soon. Subscribe and you'll receive it automatically in the near future. Thanks for viewing.

I’ve been searching for a video of someone starting it up so I can hear there clutch my clutch has the same rattling sound so I’m assuming this is normal! Your clutch isn’t giving you any issues is it? Just made the video to show how the clutch system works?

Yes the 2011 has an intake and exhaust. The setup is the same as this model 2010. The 2009 is routed different due to the battery being behind your pvt cover.

Every belt housing has to have an intake and exhaust otherwise the belt would get too hot and fail. Only thing different is the routing of these intakes that changed from 2009 to 2010. Polaris makes tweaks to their bikes every year to improve performance. And fix issues.

HI, I have a 2010 Sportsman 850 EPS Touring and need to align the CVTs as the secondary is misaligned to the primary CVT. This is engaging the secondary even at idle RPMs and making it difficult to shift gears. How do i go about sorting the alignment? I have 3 tools from Polaris Special tool set to align but dunno which one is the right one ( PA - 47346, 2870654, EBS 2872292). In case the tools are not right how else can I adjust and align the CVT pulleys?

I see there’s a lot of videos on UA-cam on aligning the clutches. I hope you’ve found something that’ll help since I’ve not had this issue yet.
