When someone only has one day to ride in Pisgah and they are looking for a recommendation on where to ride, I almost always send them to do the full Black Mountain Epic.
Although this trail is only 12.5 miles, it is a burly day on the bike with a nice variety of riding throughout from gravel climbs, to hike a bikes, chunky dhs, to flowy machine built.
With this in mind, I thought what better place to have my sendoff group ride with patrons from the area??
Which brings us to this video.
This day turned out to be such an amazing day, and I couldn't have asked for a better way to end my time here in western North Carolina. Not only did we have a fantastic group of friends show up and a great ride, but following the ride we all sat down to an awesome meal. Following the meal I continued the day of celebration with John and Johnny down at a local beerfest for continued fun as we drank some delicious brews, threw axes, played ping pong and stump, and also ate MORE TACOS.
Johnny and I even continued the party later into the night at his house just hanging out in the man cave basement of his.
Basically, what I'm saying is: this was a great day, and I hope you are having a great day too!
LFRHGS
Alexander
I'm on my west today, and could not be more stoked. See you all soon for some new vandventures!
I love the way you stay supportive and motivational.
Alot of other people would not have cared , or would have mocked and made fun of that kid for falling.
But you were concerned, helpful, and supportive.
Thumbs up for that man
I love that you dont have an animated intro or anything, just raw riding. I hope you never change it.
I should probably mention that Danny made it out in one piece and re joined us at the bottom! 🤘
That whoop @5:00! Glad Danny was able to finish on his own terms.
leg cramps suck
Great ride dude ! That guy made it down in one piece ? In the same day ? mmmmm..you guys went all the way to the car with no mention of that dude lol....okay. Well, I really enjoyed it !! Let the adventures begin !!!
Alex didn’t you do a live stream last night? great video man keep up the good work
@@lowflyingdonut worst feeling ever when i get a cramp!
I'm so glad you didn't Edit out the Hike A Bike, for those who have never been. My 1st time at Black mountain I had no idea what I was in for, craziest rooted and stair case climbs I've ever seen. Great work 🤘
When you're livin free and ridin hard you may go OTB once in a while......I have had my share
Holy crap! I’m kind of glad to see you guys hiked up there. That’s cause it means we didn’t do too bad. About month ago we did Black Mountain. First time ever. First time in Pisgah. Climbed up Avery creek rd. Than up club gap. It was brutal. But downhill rocked. I loved lower 1/3 of Black. Fast. And fun as hell!! LFRHGS!!!!
Alex, you’re such a great ambassador of our sport! Thanks for all the great video and narration. I lived in WNC for 15 years and get back often. Bringing 8 Texans to ride in April of 19’. Maybe we can get in a ride with you👍🏻
Heyyyy! I heard on seths video about Dora the van that you were headed toward the rockies? I got you on free passes to keystone if you make it this far into the mountains! I just started mountain biking, I'm a snowboarder, But I'm down to hook it up with free passes to keystone! Maybe you can show me some things lol
Alex bro, I swear your patron entourage is rocket-propelled. God DAMN your dudes are fast!
That OTB was the classic scenario of collar bone & radius breakage! Exactly how I've broken my right radius and friends have broken collar bones repeatedly!
Lived in Hickory NC for years now in Fargo ND, Really missing all the beautiful scenery and great trails. Love the channel .
was out on a ride when I got the notification from youtube of the new vid... what an awesome feeling enjoying the ride knowing theres an awesome video from the Singletrack Sampler waiting for me when I get back from sampling some singletrack!
Friends and I rode lower Black in April and there were trail workers building that rock section before the bridge. Cool to see it completed and ridden.
Come to AZ this winter!!!! Great trails, great weather, and I've got you covered on a bomb home made dinner, cuz I know you'll be hurting for some with all that driving! Sedona, Flagstaff, or even Pheonix has amazing trails, I'd be game to meet and ride with you just about anywhere though. Love the channel Alex, keep on living free man, for all of us!
What are some good trails in Phoenix that you recommend?
alpinestarsssss the best trail set is out near fountain hills. “Sport Loop” “Long Loop” and Tech Loop. Are all good.
But if you just want a good XC ride north mountain trail 100 is great!
I'll actually be out at mcdowell tomorrow morning at 6am, if you're game i'll be on a bright green Full sus Giant.
Cameron Hoag Those trails look awesome! Going to check those out when it cools down. I work early in the morning Sunday, so no riding for me. I really appreciate the offer though! Wish I could. Have fun riding.
The progression of your riding is ridiculous bro; you're so fast!
DOOOOOOOD!!! This May we did the (extra) Black death-march. Missed the Claw Hammer road turn (distracted by the horsey pasture) and ended up way the efff up and over the mountain on Avery Rd. We decided to start the single track going up Club Gap, which was a stomping creek and dropped us at the Avery trail head. One long type 2 day, but the Black downhill always leaves me ready to do it again. Jeremy, way to represent the SMC crew!!!
Damn that OTB was nasty and good example that in some cases more speed is your friend. Glad he was ok.
Speed is often your frend. He needed both more speed and he needed to be more back
another great video, very cool to watch and that willie at 11:06, hooo! :) ...P.S. about the fall of that guy, he did a nice rolling move to proteck himself, by chance it wasn't too bad, good for him. :)
Late run out West , but I am stoked to watch it go down. Safe travels.
I love the stoke even when climbing and hiking the bike!!
I love that Alex could be climbing up a cliff with his bike tied to his back but still be in a great mood
It’s hard to believe that The Single Track Sampler only has 153K subscribers. Such a good dude and channel. I think maybe the long videos has something to do with it. I have watched Seth’s Bike Hacks grow to now nearly 1 million subs and I enjoy his short videos. Easier to watch while in the bathroom or while the wife runs into the bank or something, but can’t get a full 14 min video in sometimes. Sounds dumb, but the shorter videos will get more views
I hear you bro and appreciate this feedback 🙌
The Singletrack Sampler congrats btw on finishing the van! Wicked awesome, and love seeing it on other channels.
Where can I find some “live free, ride hard, and get stoked” merchandise?
I wish more people like you existed in the world.
First UA-cam channel I ever subscribed - well and truly awesome.
These videos are awesome they keep my on my toes getting out to ride as much as I can!
I was having some flash backs of that trail. I've gone backpacking and camping there. Beautiful trail and forest
Dude the lines you were taking at the end were awesome
Yeaahhhhhhh! Will is the man, can rip on a bike real good. Great stuff!
Haven’t watched you in a while but that last part reminded me why I used to it was crazy and was kinda satisfying
Good luck in your travels.. maybe one day I’ll run into you out there. Black the way you went - epic
Totally stoked! STS
love it! Have fun in Colorado!
I was there in the spring. That place looks a lot different with leaves on all the trees. I only did upper black though and then Bennet Gap. Tough first ride after winter.
Dope video bro! I really felt the vibe on this one! Get stoked brah!
My man STS mountain bike Jesus
I love watching your channel Alex awesome! I look forward to your videos I'm new to MTB I'm learning by watching your videos keep up the great work broham 👏👊
i love these trails
Great lines and skils,l thanks for sharing the journey it is a awesome time capture 👍🏼🎬🗝🌍
Kinda hard on your patrons aren't you Alex! Climb, climb, climb and then otb! LOL Thanks for the vid
Good stuff and I'm looking forward to some Colorado biking again!
Alex, loved that video. Thanks for the inspiration.
Just watched your the final Van project on Seth's Channel. Nice work. I saw that you are heading to Colorado. While down there make sure that you spend a couple of weeks in Durango riding all of their trails! The Hermosa Trail is my favorite. While in the area, make sure to go to Cortez and do Phil's World. Then head down to Albuquerque for more amazing trails. I lived in ABQ for 3 years. White Mesa is close to Durango, and the Placitas are just north of ABQ. Check them out for sure!
Sick video man..stoked to see the colorado videos i hope you hit the parks here
Nice ride! I especially liked that hill climb (walk)...at 62 it made me feel young!
Alex, what is the plan for Colorado? Where are you going? If you need a place to park it in Ft. Collins let me know!
GO KILL IT OUT WEST! I can't wait to see the vids! It'll be inspiration to build my weekender promaster city van and get out of staaaate!! (FL... haha)
Those LED lights are dope- please add STS logo on the rear bumper
You should get your van wrapped I think it would make it a lot nicer then just white!
Chase Polit A van wrap would just make him a target for trouble
I've been enjoying the lens updates on your Patreon page.
Nice. Glad to hear Danny is ok....looked like he took it right on the head. Yes upper black is good fun. Just dont be in a rush to finish LOL.
OMG he is actually 12. I honestly thought you were kidding and he was really 17 or something. Shreddin!
Love your vids inspires me to ride more
This trail is amazing!
Cracked 2 ribs landing like that on the road. 2 month recovery.
Hello Alex, Trail Very insane fantastic técnica, Very Nice MAM. Thanks for video Alexander 🇧🇷😎🤘🏽🍺.
Nice riding!
Looks like a lot of fun
Black Mountain is the most insane shit I've ridden. I will never forget the hikers telling me "you are f-ing nuts!"
Good to see the pinky isn’t holding you back!
yes i love your vids man!!!
That OTB was nasty!! Glad he's okay.
Are you going to crested butte in Colorado? If so, have fun, it gets sketchy
u make a chunkie gnarly sketch trail look so flowy man
Clipless or flats, what do you normally ride? You've probablly said before but this trail looked pretty chunky, so it got me wondering. Glad Danny was OK, and Cole, 12 years old? amazing!
You inspired me to up my game. Went to the bike park today to practice jumps and bunny hops. Stoked!!!
Haha... pretty sure the no roller blading was a reference to IFTH the sickest edit ever ;)
It's crayz speed man!
when are you going to colorado?
I need to hit Black mountain next time up. We just got back from Santos and had a blast! Are you doing the Fat tire festival next year?
You are heading west to colorado....you mean like "crested butte in autumn-colorado"? the most beautiful place in earth in this time? I'm very excited! :D
You better friggin believe it
people underestimate those climbs and the shape your legs have to be in just to make it up to the top. i took my wife and 2 kids on it the kids were dying all the way up as were we all. the ride down is worth it. i suggest to anyone going to these areas get your legs in climbing shape. i don't care if you think you ride often you need to find challenging climbs in your area and do them over and over again to get in shape for this kind of torture. especially us floridians.
Sweet ride good stuff
Hey man I live in Colorado. Will you be doing any group rides?
glad he was alright
I love the orange glasses what make are they bud ?
Ha! That’s me and my crew in the parking lot of lower black.
Front brake death!! Done it a few times myself!
Hey! Love your videos! When you are Pisgah what app do you use to track your ride? I have a hard time keeping up with my ride when I visit.
Where are you going to be hitting while you are in Colorado, I moved to Denver a few months ago. If you happen to be riding anywhere near there on your trip, I would love to say Hello, see the van in person and you as well. I do not have my bike yet as I had to sell them all to move to Shanghai, but I am back for good and time is preventing me from getting my bikes back up.
Nice vid
Love it! Get Freakin Stoked!
So it was you at the restaurant I saw in Frisco Colorado
you should come to Durango Colorado!!
I do miss NC, but if you make it to Nor Cal-sonoma county, hit me up.
You coming to Grand Junction? I just moved out here 2 weeks ago
Your awesome keep it up
“Never go full endo” is gonna be my new life philosophy.
Love It!
Yeah man, keep it up
Ouch! Glad he made it down. Definitely need a video on how to reclaim mojo after falling.
Alex, hey man what kind of tires you have on your bike front and rear? Thanks
Check the video description!👍
The Singletrack Sampler thanks man. now I feel dumb. Never even thought of actually reading the description haha
Endo !!! 🤣😂🤘🍻
Alexander do u ride clipless or platform
Smeash
Live salsa, ride tacos and get avocado!
You need to do a colab with Ben Gravy... Ben takes you surfing for a day, you take him biking for a day.
You should come ride snow shoe! :)
nice video man :)
My arms hurt just from watching
I will become a patreon asap I really want to help this channel sts is the only reason I’m happy when I don’t get to ride because your rides sound just like mine
