Nah, they should have made Hux like Tarkin

He did an amazing job with this soundtrack.
Thinking this was John Williams is probably the best compliment you could give to Michael Giacchino. He did an amazing job replicating John’s style, and especially the Imperial Suite would be right at home in a mainline Star Wars movie.

Yes.... my response to Hux was purely "Wow... really? That was it?" Half expecting him to get up and say something afterwards. Hmm. Nope. No "They have a child find it!!" or anything.... Lame.
Hux probably would not have brushed off a missile being dropped 5 feet in front of his face either...
@@SkyBorik Still, a blaster bolt shot is considered very painful, yet Krennic still continued to command his troops.
I struggled with this comment since I couldn't remember who/what a "Hux" was... Meanwhile I remember everything from the old Lucas days...
He had a more interesting death in the concept arts of the last movie. He was so obsessed with trying to learn the force that when the first order fell he committed suic1de with mace windu's lightsaber

Poor Director Krennic, the ultimate example of why middle management is such a toxic environment. Leads the charge on organizing projects only to be undermined by incompetence of people failing to deploy garrisons. All credit is taken away from him during his successes, all blame is put on him during his failures.
Success is the product of a thousand fathers but failure is an orphan
not to mention later being terminated via 1 terrawatt laser beam by his boss
@@Internetbutthurt Awesome quote! Is that of you?
@@greg9985 Not entirely; the great Roman philosopher Tacitus said This is an unfair thing about war: victory is claimed by all, failure to one alone
. JFK popularized a variant of this (after several others including Mussonlini's son in law) which was Victory has a thousand fathers but defeat is an orphan...but it works for success and failure, which i adapted. Its not a great leap so im sure others have probably been on the same wavelength.
Exactly. He deploys the garrison when he senses a Rebel attack, while Tarkin deploys literally maybe 10 TIE Fighters when the Rebels attack the Death Star. Besides him being a bit of a megalomaniac as well, at least he knew the importance of protecting the Empire's assets
One thing I liked is that at the end of the movie, he doesn't just send his Death Troopers to deal with Jyn and Cassian. The man goes with two troopers to take care of this himself. A lot of imperial officers I've seen, seem rather more focused on saving their skins or letting their troops deal with problenms. But not Krennic, he's already on his way to deal with them.
"Two men, with me, now! Get that beach under control!"
Krennic was really intimidating honestly. He managed to get more kills than most of his imperial comrades. Shame his own project killed him at the end. But it did got the rest of his targets.
Its because its his ass on the line, he WAS saving his skin.
@@alexr.m.6382 it's still pretty ballsy of him go in personally tbh

Director Krennic is so relatable. Climb through ranks and become the ultimate man, a leader and an accomplished architect. But of course his own goal destroyed him in the end and other men took his place, burying him out of sight frkm History. Now all that remains is Grand Moff Tarkins name written beside every mention of the DS Mach 1. This man was simply trying to achieve respect and become noticed.
We’ll always remember him
He actually was highly respected by all of his men, they saw him as someone who finally stands outside of all the political bs and actually does his highly important work.
@@S-Asker perfect example of this is in Thrawn: Treason with Assistant Director Ronan
@@directororsoncallankrennic3531 I know, that's what I was referring too ^^
@@S-Askeris this legends?
I like how he is important to an extent but they made sure to make it clear that he is just some imperial commander, he doesn't have a secret past, he isn't a skilled warrior, he's just a guy who worked on the Death Star. It's nice that Rogue One was smart enough to treat these low ranking *main villains* and heroes with the kind of attention and care (like having theme music). it's one of the things that makes Rogue One surprisingly the best Star Wars movies of them all.
He was on the same level as Tarkin. Rember, the answer to his question to Vader was YES. And that with Vader wanting him dead. Krennic wouldn't have thrown away the DS! and he certainly wouldn't have turned some minor insurgents into the CIS 2.0 by blowing up Alderaan.
In my point of view , the rebellion is evil!!!
Oh you need to read Catalyst if you haven't. Krennic isn't a skilled "warrior" that's not his forté. He is a manipulative genius. He really did fight tooth and nail for the Deathstar and was very hands on with it when it began. Course he also made it is personal hobby to piss off Tarkin and vice versa.
I really wouldn’t want to piss Tarkin off, but hey, whatever suits you.
@@501ststormtrooper9 I mean Tarkin himself's strategy was to piss people off with so much fear they would never fight, which in my opinion is so stupid it has earned the term 'retarded' as the only way to describe it.

The fact that despite this reaction the answer was indeed 'yes' really highlights how big a deal Krennic was. I really wish we could have seen him more. I loved how the primary antagonist of Rogue One wasn't a powerful Sith lord, or a dangerous criminal or anything, but a middle manager with a huge ego. I've known a few Krennics in my time, though fortunately none of them had access to a Death Star.
He was around Tarkins ranks...not really a middle manager
Director of the ISB's AWR team. If he was just on the death star, his word wouldve been final aside from vader and good ol palpy.

He probably wouldn't have so trigger happy with it like Tarkin was. Shit I think legends and canon Palpatine, Vader and Thrawn thought Tarkin fucked up royally when he destroyed alderaan.
@Josh Coulson yah exactly blowing up Alderaan only legitimized the rebels cause.

Honestly I liked him cuz of his outfit and charisma. But I watched Rogue One before I really started analyzing films properly.
A rewatch might let me appreciate this "middleman representative" y'all keep talking about, and thinking back on it, I already see it. He wasn't cut out to face powerhouses like Tarkin and Vader, but he still did, and that ambition was admirable. Not to mention his role in the history of the Death Star makes him stand out quite a bit.
Krennic is one of the best villains ever, the acting performance is so good, you genuinely hate him and his death is perfect for the character. Awesome theme and just good acting, motivation, and costume.

Krennic shows how powerful the empire can be under the hands of someone competent. Despite not necessarily being the smartest person in the room he did produce results and shown that he is capable of leadership. He's still one of my favorite Star Wars antagonists as he's one of the few that are reasonably sane.

@Clinton Pendleton Comrade for your reactionary actions, you will be taken to a reeducation camp in Dathamir.
A really underestimated character. For me, he was one of the greatest Commanders in Star wars universe, along with Grand Admiral Thrawn. Brave, fearless, disciplined, loyal to the cause that he was serving and with incredible commanding skills. His problem was that he was unlucky, and people with more power and connections, like Commander Tarkin, framed him.
The fact that it took the Death Star to kill this man is just a testament to how badass Krennic was.
It was completely unnessesery. Tarkin could do this with just his bare hands.
This soundtrack is great. It sounds like pure intimidation - like the empire should sound.
Krennic was a really genius character, well played and believeable!

Just me hoping Krennic appears in Andor?
Unlikely. But possible.
For me he is one of the best Villans. The reason for that is that he is not the strongest or the most Powerfull one. But because he is being cruel and arrogant to the People underneth him which brings him somehow respect even from the Audience. He screams yells and is being rude to other people who are underneth him in rank, because someone like Vader and Thrawn will never take him seriously wich makes him desperate to prove himself so he always sends everything in a battle he has.
I mean, he wouldn't be taken seriously until his engineering genius wins the empire the war, which it genuinely could have. Shit, if you can build a giant death ball, you can update the ISD 2 into an even more menacing ship, like the non-canon ISD 3, that and fuck thrawn, aliens can go back to the rim where they belong.

Who knew an extremely disgruntled middle manager would make for a compelling villain?
You know, for someone who chokes on their aspirations, he sure has a kick ass theme. :D That beats and rivals Grand Moff Tarkin and possibly Thrawn's themes. It was as if he was built or made for the clone wars/prequel era.
