Why you MUST paint your Ceiling Black in your Garage

- The Stubb is coming along and in this video we demo the kitchen. After that is done, we have the entire ceiling and upper walls painted black. It looks incredible and it hides the spray foam ceiling and other unsightly items. I can't recommend it enough to paint the ceiling black.

A few years back i painted the ceiling tile in our basement black and what a huge difference it made during our home theater conversion.
You and Josh should be super proud of yourselves for what you have and are accomplishing now. Your place looks absolutely awesome. I also love the fact you are making some of these decisions and designs by the seat of your pants! Sometimes it just works out better that way.

You’ll never change my mind that the ceiling in your home garage should be white or pale grey but I agree 100% that this was the right decision for the dealership. It’s not too dark and it looks WAY better. Well done.

@@normalguysupercar it’s not my taste but that’s personal preference. Mostly I just think it was a mistake at the house because you film in there and it sucks all the light out of that small space and makes it look too dark in videos. At the dealership with the tall white walls and drop lighting it doesn’t make it too dark at all. It just does exactly what you wanted it to. It makes the ugly ceiling go away. I think at the house it was a mistake (for filming) but at the dealership it was the best thing you could have done. The ceiling looked horrible. Now you can’t even see it and the space is still bright enough too. It really looks great at the dealership. Exactly the right call.

I did the same thing in my basement. It had one of those white drop down ceilings that really made it look small. Took all the white panels out and painted it black what a difference. Can't wait to see the bar/kitchen.
Yeah, everyone says it makes it feel more confined but I think it makes it feel bigger.

The height of a bar is normally 6 inches higher than a counter. Just by eyeing it, it looks like it was built for the height of a bar.

The shop is looking good! If there was one suggestion I might offer (at least from this video) it would be that the vertical wall above the "storage" area which is now black, shows a lot of the surface irregularities and imperfections because it is being lighted from the main area and there are no lights on that vertical section to "blind out" your vision from seeing the imperfections. Just wondering if there was a way to cover that vertical section with something that would minimize this. Flags? Banners? Neon light signs? More of the wood? Just a thought. Congrats on the progress you all have made.

Uh there's this great new invention called LEDs and they don't really use all that much electricity for how much light they produce. You should look into them.

Did it in my garage and painted all garage door track rails gloss black instaead of just the bare silver.People always comment on the garage doors and immediately say”I have to do that to my garage doors!”
