No wallet takes 1/2 yard of fabric. I make and sell wallets, and that's enough fabric to make 5 or 6+ wallets.

im extremely confused on the measurements. My patterns are coming out way smaller than the video.

This is a great tutorial. I am going to make this wallet soon, however I do not like wallets that are flimsy. Is there a really stiff interfacing I can use, or does anyone ever cut small cardboard to give it more structure? It's just hard to tell if the wallet will be flimsy or not and I'm trying to mentally plan ahead here. Any comments or ideas appreciated! I can't wait to make this!

I have made several of these wallets and yes, my first one was very flimsy. There are many types of interfacing to use that varies from flimsy to stiff like cardboard. I suppose you could use cardboard but it would eventually break down with use. I now use Pellon heavy weight interfacing for the card section and their fusible fleece for the outside because I like a more sturdy feel to my wallets.

I noticed you didn't top stitch around the wallet once you turned it out. Is there a reason for not top stitching at the finish or is it optional if you wanted to do it?
