I love how the demo you've shown with checking controller ID doesn't use the thumbstick at all, nice touch
One thing I'd like to point out is that those plastic connectors that have the black tab that needs to be flipped to take in/out the white and blue ribbon cable are very delicate use as little force as possible. There's quite a lot of videos by TronicsFix and TheCod3r who repair consoles that have broken tabs because the user tried to fix it themselves.
My first repair with an Ifixit kit was my son’s switch controller. Excellent kit!
Hoping Hall effect sticks are on the next gen of consoles
I was surprised they didn't revise the SD OLED with hall effect joysticks. I have a Legion Go which has hall effect sticks and a ROG Ally and the Go joysticks are leagues better.
Even this video shows hall effect sticks
Valve is not Apple. You can easily buy joysticks with Hall Effect sensors.
@@uis246 I understand that but it would be nice to have them built in from the factory
@@izzy9022 they where going to but had to revert back because of "quality control issues" idk what is wrong but its not quite there yet sd2 anyone? lmao
Came here for curiosity on if the GuliKit sticks would be discussed at all. Personally I have gone through 2 pairs on Switch joycons, they're less durable than OEM. Mechanically they become uneven and clicky, and their output becomes inaccurate and touchy. Together these issues make precision control difficult though interestingly in player control it's generally fine, the issue is very apparent when in menus though where you want to point up/down and end up flipping left/right.
What's to discuss? They're undoubtedly the only kit you should be using.
@@ProfessorNightman I think I've demonstrated in my comment that they are at par with OEM quality on joycons, which is to say quite bad. My curiosity is if the issues I've described are unique to joycon sticks or if anyone has had issues with their products for other platforms. The form factor for joycon sticks is really bad so I want to give GuliKit the benefit of the doubt.
Owned my deck for a while. No repairs needed yet! Well made compared to the switch!
Can anyone help... When taking apart electronics I have a ESD safe mat and esd strap that are both connected to a ESD plug. Can I use normal precision screwdrivers with plastic/rubber handles with metal tips, or do I have to use ESD screwdrivers too? I have ordered a set of wera ESD precision screwdrivers to be safe, but I'm unsure about other tools like tweezers etc. Do they need to be esd as well, or can I just use a pair with plastic/rubber handles and metal tips? New to this so no idea what's right or wrong. Thanks in advance.
Good morning, is it possible to disassemble the VR Meta Cast 2 and make a projector with the Cast 2 parts to adapt a fresnel lens and LED???
hey whats yalls recommendation for a soldering kit? Never solder before but i know how to fix electronics and welded before. Going to repair a xbox series x hdmi port
What thumbsticks with halleffect would be best for SD Oled version? Gulikit arent compatible it seems?
Does the steam deck ship with Gulikit joysticks? Or did you folks just happen to already have those installed
They don't come with them by default, but if you're replacing your thumbsticks I highly recommend getting them for Hall Effect.
Valve said hall effect sticks are not reliable enough yet... Do you think they know something we don't?
Can you make a video about replacing the analog Hori Split Pad Pro with the Hall Effect analog module?
I followed your utube video to the tee and now nothing really works besides my d pad help please it says it’s successful but it’s not
i really wish we can get replacement board for abxy button
When are we getting the daughterboards in? I've been waiting on that part specifically
I don't like how Valve handled those. I think there's like 5 revisions of those and they aren't compatible with each other.
Not only that, but the lack of selling... you know I what I mean.
@@trungussThe one that i need is on ebay for about 240 dollars, only one too. it's also the only one.
what are the differences between A & B type sticks?
google is your friend :)
Hi I was thinking about buying the pro tech talk kit on your website but then I saw a ‘waning’ pop up about a product containing chemicals that cause cancer??? What is this product and can it be shipped without it?
It's a relic from the 1986 California Proposition 65.
Everything gets slapped with it because quite literally everything is known by the state of California to cause cancer. It's a joke of the intended purpose.
what size screws are for the joysticks? im looking for replacements.
google is your friend :)
Anyone know if MLCB type sticks are available ?
Not yet it seems :/
I tried the GuliKit ones and they were really bad…thank god the regular ones are cheap enough and easy to repair…
From my experience I would recommend going with the Elecgear hall effect ones since they have a better circularity than the Gulikit ones.
Great video, but how does this fix stick drift "for good" ?
Aren't you just replacing the stick with the same exact type of joystick? So won't the same issue arise again?
Why is there an a or b on the stick board with a switch………. One set and just pick a or b. Lol.
Gulikit's QC is bad. My KK2Pro has stuck buttons after less than a year. They even lied about mechanical buttons in KK3. I hope this company doesn't become a household name when it comes to Hall Effect sticks in the future.
Im giving away a steamdeck grip case on my latest video. Steamdeck 💗
update your steam deck!
