Fantastic work. I don't understand how anyone can dislike this, national TV hasn't done anything better. Also, what a legend John Wardley is. Such a softly spoken, sweet fella and yet he's responsible for some of the most innovative and vicious rides ever made.
Me and some of my friends were guests from over the UK in 1984 . We drove up from London . Fantastic day . Returned few more times in the 80s then in 1992 stayed at Alton Towers Hotel . Still my Number 1 Theme Park .

What I miss, are the original rafts on the Congo, they actually had padded full backed seats with head rests, the current ones are hard and uncomfortable and take some of the joy out of the ride for me, especially when compared to the old rafts.
Amazing documentary. JW interview will be worth it’s weight in gold in years to come, I imagine. 50k views and 700 likes at my time of watching seems utterly criminal for a production of this quality. Great job.

Hello There, great Documentary, really well edited and fantastic stuff throughout, I love the montage of filming and Vlogging. Cheers Peter :) p.s. I like the interviews as well, it's good to see different people's perspectives as well. p.p.s it was great to hear some of the history throughout.
Always interested in learning the history of these classic parks. I remember the photo of Princess Dianna and her sons even here in the states, but I didn't know it was from Alton Towers. She was a true princess and was loved here also.
The famous photo you saw was probably on the logger leap log flume at Thorpe Park also here in the U.K. but she did also visit the towers with the two princes! Thanks again for checking out some of our content!
After watching the John Wardley webisodes this came up on my suggestions and I have to say, this is an absolute masterpiece. The amount of effort and passion poured into this is amazing, you definitely deserve more views and subscribers! Keep up the great work! 👏
Gray's Way what a lovely comment to wake up to. Thanks so much, it’s a bit rough round the edges but the passion is definitely there! Check out the Cedar Point one if you get a chance, I got a better camera at least by then! Thanks for watching!
tallicay2k really appreciate that! Thanks for watching, if I did this again I’d do it v differently but am still v pleased to have it up here and for people to watch it.
Only watched the first five minutes so far, but it's interesting to see how many other people feel the same way about Alton Towers as I do - I've been coming since I was tiny, and growing up, going to Alton Towers was always the most incredible, fun way to spend the day. The amount of nostalgia I get from simply hearing In the hall of the mountain king is incredible, it really is my favourite place to be on earth (which is why I only go around once a year because I never ever want to get used to it).
we have 2 confirmed ones at the moment, 10th June Alton Towers and July 29th Blackpool Pleasure Beach. I am still trying to find the rights dates for Drayton Manors and Fantasy Islands
I’m new to this channel and I wish I’d found it sooner . Such an amazing channel !! You must have done so much research I order to find the old videos and all the facts . I love Alton Towers and these facts make me so much more interested in the Towers past . Although Ripsaw closed before I was born , it looks so amazing and I wish it was still there . Many amazing rides actually closed before I was born but I’m so glad that nemesis is there ( and that my mother forced me to go on it 😂) as it is now my second favourite ride just behind Galactica . It was disappointing that they took the headsets off Galactica, probably due to travel sickness , but , luckily , I got a go with the headsets on . But I will always love Alton Towers , and every time I go I remember the best memory’s .
Theme Park World Tour lol 😂 I’ve sent this video to my friend and now we’re going to Alton Towers on Friday !!! Whoop !! My friends even going to go and Galactica and it’ll be the first time she’s been on a coaster with inversions !!
Theme Park Blog thank you for watching and I’m glad you got something out of it! It was a lot of fun to make and something I’d wanted to attempt for a long time.
I am so enjoyed sit watch hour along this video, Interesting about this history so Excellent video!! Thank you and cant wait see much more video coming up :D Also Great shot video of Nemesis my favourite coaster!
STRanGe AnD wiERD it’s two years this week since I started filming this video. It means more than you might imagine to hear from people that have just discovered it and what’s more seem to enjoy it! Thanks for watching and cling onto those memories you have!
It was a pleasure, no problem at all! I think you're right about our ages, I was born in 79. I remember being taken to Towers in 94 and looking at the coasters on offer. I chose Thunder Looper because with just the one inversion I thought it might ease me into it. How wrong was I! That thing was seriously intense, and from there it was straight onto Nemesis for 4 rides in a row without getting off. I was hooked. Hope to see you soon, as Tina said earlier today on Twitter, we'll have to arrange to get together at some point with the small people.
Fantastic documentary 👏🏼. I’ve liked and subscribed. Are you sure about the Diana thing? I always remember the pictures of her and the boys on Loggers Leap and Depth Charge. I may be wrong...
Phil Isaak welcome to the channel and thanks for watching!!! Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I get asked about the Diana thing quite a lot! Although the Thorpe shots are more famous they did also visit towers together! Posting a link here! www.birminghammail.co.uk/whats-on/family-kids-news/princess-diana-log-flume-alton-10722106
Phil Isaak I thought the same about Diana as I was about - years old as we was at Thorpe Park when they was there (dad got a video clip of them whilst recording)
What a brilliant and well filmed documentary. Nice to see Alton Towers receiving some love on UA-cam. Not many if any? Can Boast such a rich and long history. Thank you. 👍🏻
Thank you for this great video through the years of Alton Towers my first visits were 2013 and 2014 and ever since then I've been coming every year especially for the Fireworks I never used to like rollercoasters but when I came in 2013 and 2014 my first coaster was air but now is Galactica then i went onto Nemesis Smiler and of course wickerman but for me it's the atmosphere and the escapism I just love it and cant get enough i hope they continue to expand and put new coasters in SW9? but no idea where itll go lol I hope to return in 2020

No no no a Norman castle didn't stand there. The ruins of the Norman castle still exist in the village of Alton. There was an iron age fort around the area of the flagtower.
its weird cuz it seems to have a very american theme and style....the u.k. needs to have a medevil themed park with roller coasters.... i think that just makes more sense...cuz this just doesnt make sense to me..or at least have like victorian style buildings...not american midwest style lolllll

Immediately headed for The Smiler that day. (Not knowing I would have to wait TWO HOURS to ride)
Thank you for watching, smile always.

The stress of queueing for the rapids and seeing people almost not get into their boat in time 😬😭

No no no a Norman castle didn't stand there. The ruins of the Norman castle still exist in the village of Alton. There was an iron age fort around the area of the flagtower.
