How to test your transmission shift solenoids on a Ford Superduty or Excursion Torqshift transmission 5R110W.
If you have your valve body out or are replacing solenoids anyways and suspect other solenoids may be having issues, this video will show you how you can test them as best as possible without special tools. ~

Very good brother. I don’t see many people doing tests on these solenoids .
Just remember not to put it directly to battery, the leads carry way too many amps and can ruin the windings in the solenoids. 10 amp fused is always a good rule of thumb.

Just for information purpose there is no piston in there. There is a valve with a spring that is controlled by the pintel that is controlled by electrical current.Having it in the oil means nothing.

How did you find the open positive wire on your transmission circuit

My transmission is not shifting normal and over drive is not getting in the tow haul light is blincking i checked all selenoids the way you did and they work what else can be the problem

I was driving home late, about 1:30am. had to cut through a dangerous part of the community in my e350 super duty,, as I shifted into third a bang was heard from my 5R110W, no more power to the wheels in forward or reverse. I had to abandon the truck until morning. by the time I returned the following day the truck was ransacked, the windows broken. clowns designing then assemble these low quality and unreliable vehicle's
