    Hey Gary I have an issue with a 5r110 leaking out the front but I have replaced the seal and it still leaks just as bad as before . Any ideas plz.

      well, it's possible the bushing may have spun, if it did, i recommend getting a new pump or reman pump, there are special tools you need to line up the pump halves, i also never change the bushing, these pumps are line bored, Just to confirm, your sure it's coming from the front

      Yes it is coming from between the motor and trans like I said I put a front seal in shouldn't that fixed it? Thanks for the reply!

    There are no check balls in this transmission? I was surprised to see output shaft removed before any drums were removed also. Thanks for sharing!

      No valvebody either, just a solenoid body, all valves are located in the pump. Thanks for watching, please subscribe

      I would like to know if any codes are present for the transmission, this may give some direction

    Can the coast clutch drum be removed without removing the solenoid body? I have a no drive/reverse 5r110w that i suspect is a bad coast clutch drum which I'll be doing tomorrow

    • @GaryFerraro

      @@GaryFerraro I just wanted to mention something real quick in case people actually read these comments. The transmission filter is inserted into the oil pump, so the filter neck broke off when i removed the pump, no big deal as i just need a new filter. Also my coast clutch drum was in two pieces, looks like a quick fix.
      Thanks again

      Jay Bray yes, thats common for that drum to break. Sorry about the filter, i forgot to mention that, my thoughts were on the drum

    Transmission is back with me :-) guy who done it couldnt believe lack of frictions. The transmission was rebuilt 2000 miles ago before I owned the van and had a bullet proof kit purchased for it. However whoever built it decided not to put all the frictions supplied and actually had less than standard! I want to keep an eye on fluid temp do you know the size of the sump plug thread so I can purchase one that will take a sensor? Seems about the best way for me to monitor temp? Think it is the same as the pathfinder 88-98 and 90-97 and maybe the 300zx 90-97. Think it was a 19mm spanner to get it out.Tks

    I built a 5r110w and i have a delayed reaction when it is put into drive or reverse, also trans down shifts hard when downshifts

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  5 років тому +1

      Nothing in common for drive or reverse, have to put a pressure gauge on it yet to see what kind of line pressure you have?

      @@GaryFerraro I replaced the EPC solenoid when i rebuilt the trans but did not replace solenoid D, or the up grade sonnax manual valve. I hope this will fix it. Thanks Gary

      Is it hard to get parts where you are?

    • @grahamh6444
      @grahamh6444 7 років тому

      Yes as are people to work on transmissions. Wish I had done it myself now :-( Sure with your help I would have got through it. Got the transmission out in 2Hrs. I am not bad on the spanners but havent got a press if needed got a vice and also a clean workspace available (conservatory). Only thought I wont do it myself as it might take me a long time if I get stuck and have been waiting almost 2months fro the place I took it to. Not sure why in the UK it seems like a black art for auto boxes. Maybe something I should retrain in :-)

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  7 років тому

      Wow, so your trans has been in the shop for 2 months? is this because of parts?

    • @grahamh6444
      @grahamh6444 7 років тому

      Yes just the frictions needed (apparently not a lot else wrong). Got the call today apparently all ready for picking up. Looking forward to getting it, asked them to do the accumulator mod where you put a bar in the chamber to stop the spring time damper. This van suffered from major rpm flare up with anything above 1/2 throttle could never keep your foot on the gas as you would just rev out whilst it changed. Only a 2.4L 4 banger but got 450bhp so a bit lively :-) Hopefully frictions will last with a speedy change
