    What is the Radius Protocol?

    • @workrockin9231
      @workrockin9231 5 років тому +1

      Thank you for asking. RADIUS is a networking protocol that provides Accounting, Authorization and Authentication services on a network(AAA for short).
      In simple terms a Radius server running on your router can determine
      1. Who can access the network
      2. What he is authorized to do on the network
      3. How much network data can he use.
      This is a very simplistic definition and the actual operation is more nuanced. If you'd like to understand more, try installing Free RADIUS on your computer and play around with it a bit. It will give you a good grasp of theoretical concepts.

    I want to create a network where people can connect to wi fi and should be able to stream media files in browser and open pdf files to read. Can you please help me with it. It should have captive portal log in should auto popup.
    Thanks

      Check Waver SmartOne - www.wavertech.eu . You can upload and use video files. They will play on captive portal load, but also you can add any files or links to PDF etc. All these without any special skills using the integrated builder

      Your use case involves several components. You'll need a router on which you can install a captive portal. A thin client running debian and no dog splash would work well.
      Next you want a media streaming server. I'd recommend KODI. It will require a few tweaks but it should work out of the box. Here's an answer on quora in which a member asks for a wireless media streaming server setup that might help you understand more
      www.quora.com/Is-there-a-network-solution-for-providing-at-least-1000-active-connections-for-local-residential-homes-over-Wireless-AP-radially-to-serve-locally-hosted-content-video-to-end-users/answer/Workrock?ch=10&share=4ec29124&srid=LNunv
