Your channel is enjoyable because you are stopping in places most don't. Cool.

Excellent episode, replete with Mahi Mahi, dolphins, epic sunsets, a crash landing on the beach, some good sailing, and good news for Kat regarding the Everest base camp gig!
I watched a dinghy with a family, including mom, dad, mother-in-law, son, and puppy do an 'endo' while trying to land on the beach at Bahia Santa Maria. Pitched everyone and everything out of the dinghy and the skipper ended up with his hand still on the outboard tiller, dragging it to the beach. The Baja Haha organizers were sitting on the beach with cards to rank each landing and that family got a 10!
I just bought a siphon hose on Amazon for siphoning water out of my extra jugs and into the water tank. Haven't tried it yet but need it because my tank for water is only 20 gallon ~60 liters but I carry about 20 extra gallons in jerry cans. I caught two Mahi on handlines on the Haha race in 2020. Had just caught a skipjack and threw the plug back into the water and let out about 30 meters of line when BAM, the first Mahi hit while I was letting the line out! Scared the crap outta me!
Good trip for you two so far. Looking forward to the next episode!
    Cheers!

Ah, yes the siphon trick! For some reason, we never thought of it until this spring! I laughed at myself about that, but I'm sure happy we got a siphon hose! So much easier, and no loss of water.

@@SailingSeaDreamofClyde I know, sometimes the simplest solutions are the most difficult to remember. We tend to want to complicate things. I have two siphon hoses: one for fuel, and one for water.

Oh yeah on the surf landing. We had a hard dinghy on our first trip. Things did..not go well a few times. Hope your engine is OK and glad no one got hurt . Also had to chuckle about finding your destination doesn't exist anymore. I cannot count the number of times that has been true, including in Ensenada where a one mile walk turned into 5 miles because Google maps are not reliable lots of times in Mexico. You have to roll with it, right?

Yep, it sure is easy to mess up on those dinghy surf landings! If I can find it, I'll certainly do some practice on a mellow break before we head out of the Gulf of California next year!
Indeed, lots of self-navigating on land and shore in Mexico! It is a good reminder of times before google maps was alway in our pockets!
Thanks for tuning in and the comment, Melissa!

I swamped a dinghy on tv...with Zimmerman....can't remember his first name. I had told him we had to get out quick...he's pretty big. Those Mex police not for traps. Drug boats come out along the coast.
