- Northern Territory Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price says she "can't help but cringe" hearing popular TV shows pay lip service to Indigenous people using an Acknowledgment of Country.
Indigenous leaders have blasted popular reality TV shows for using the Acknowledgment of Country, labelling the gestures “unnecessary” and “condescending” to Aboriginal people, according to the Daily Telegraph.
"It's become a real divisiveness and really unnecessary I think to have to constantly have to do this," Ms Price told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
"It's more lip service - I don't feel there's a real genuine sentiment behind it - but more just like 'well we want to be seen as non-racist, so let's do this'."

I get this all day everyday trying to study maths at uni of all things. I look around the room of my calculus class, filled with many races, notably the only race not being represented, aboriginals, and then have to hear for the 10 billionth time about how this place as always been a place of learning for aboriginal people who play a 'very significant role in the community' actually no it's a Super important role, so important that We must hear about it at the start of every lecture, every workshop, every event, and tutorial, every practical.
Now, until this moment, no one has actually specified what this super important role the indigenousness community is playing in my learning of calculus but believe you me, it is very very important, must be right!. Takes a fair amount of effort to suppress my groans and stop my eyes rolling into the back of my head at this point. Not racist. Just over the enforced, institutionalised indoctrination.
