Numinous: A Storm Chasing Film

This short film has been in the works for two years as I have traveled over a large portion of the United States chasing, experiencing, and capturing some of the worst weather on our planet. In these past two years, I have spent about 4 months away from home, some 18,000+ miles of driving, 4,500 miles of flying from South Carolina to the Great Plains, and in the process have chased everything from tornadoes, hurricanes, and last year’s extreme cold event in Michigan.

Most of the clips were shot on the Canon 5D Mark IV using the following various lenses. Canon EF 24-105mm F/4 IS II, Canon 16-35 F/2.8 III, Canon 100-400mm F/4.5-5.6 IS II.
This film was mostly created with raw photos with a small amount of actual video added in. Altogether there are about 5,000 raw photos in this film and my workflow is as follows. Raw images off of the camera were processed in Lightroom then sent to LR Timelapse and then exported as intermediate Tiff files. Once exported, they were all imported and turned into individual timelapse sequences using Adobe After Effects and exported in the Apple ProRes 422 Codec. Once all sequences were completed in After Effects, the final video was composed and cut using Adobe Premiere Pro.
