the ace kids will def being doing the ace questionnaire in that session too. (ACE stands for adverse childhood experiences, and it asks like how often did you see caretakers hit each other, how often did you get yelled at, did you ever get assaulted, etc. i think its quite ironic that theres an ace family whose kids will be doing ace questionnaires in therapy later)
My family is hilarious and our day to day lives are full of sports, culinary arts, creative projects, pets, home improvements, and all sorts of shenanigans. Every family is different though. Small families are probably less interesting because of the structure. More people, more anarchy but more love and support.

You raise a good point Muta. If a child under 13 can't upload to UA-cam at all. In a sense, all Family content is against TOS. UA-cam should be partially accountable for all the kids being used for clout, it's not healthy. "while UA-cam's stated policy is that children under 13 should not use the site at all, especially not to upload content"
Wait, is the the EXACT wording of the TOS? Because if it says "SHOULD NOT" that sounds like it can be argued that UA-cam is stating a recommendation, as opposed to a strict ban.
I think alll videos that have kids under 13 in it should be unlisted. So only people that have the link (family and friends that these so called parents claim they make the videos for) can watch the video not a bunch of random ass people
@@villager736Truman like the kids being monetised by their parents has to live with the trauma of their past. Truman was purposefully traumatised so that he wouldn’t try to leave and even after he leaves the dome he would have to deal with the fact that everyone knows who he is, and the general paranoia that finding out that your whole life is a lie would induce. The movie is a tragedy from beginning to end.
Early childhood educator here. I actually did a small report on this back in 2018, and I feel comfortable saying that these kids are going to be fighting an uphill battle. The vast majority of the kids in these kind of channels are ages 3 to 8, I cannot stress enough how critical these periods are for social and emotional development. This is the time that they learned how to make friends, how to trust people, and starting to develop their own sense of autonomy. Vaulting these kids into micro celebrity status is at best ignorant and at worst unnecessarily cruel. Their sense of the world is irrevocably warped by this kind of stuff. Just take a new baby in the family; an event like that alone is a huge shift for a child, coupling that with buisness and media I can only imagine how much resentment that builds and destroys a relationship before it even begins. That world view will cloud every interaction they have with anyone long after the channel inevitably implodes. We've seen what happens to child celebrities, and these are people who are on the center stage more often than not. These are micro celebrities, growing up with such a small but fervent fan base only to have that go away later in life could make even basic social interaction a legitimate struggle with how utterly mutated their ego is. These kids have had the childhoods robbed from them, the ones that were born into it will never know what a normal life is. And I can only blame the parents. There is no ethical way to do this and at the end of the day they are viewing their own flesh and blood, people who have no choice but to trust then and believe that they have their best interests at heart as props! It breaks my heart. Not everyone is cut out to be a parent, and there's no shame in that it's a big thing to ask somebody and I don't think I'd be cut out for it. These are not parents, these are talent managers exploiting their clients and pretending they're a family.
@@SonLuffa What about it? Homeschooling itself isn't a problem, it's when you have people who are homeschooled and have limited social interactions that problems start crawling out.
I’m telling you, one day a big news outlet is gonna cover all of UA-cam’s controversies and we’ll get a new kind of adpocalypse with Google rebranding the platform.
Aren't they doing that already by steadily pushing out the creators with ridiculous changes to rules and revenue, trying to combat ad blockers and push the premium subscription that has features that used to be free here, while pushing rentals and free views of mediocre movies?
Bullying at schools must be uniquely awful these days because of social media and content creation like this. It’d be very easy for bullies to get more relentless all because their victim’s parents like to record every little thing for the world to see.
That’s what happened with the 8 Passengers kids. The older kid said they all got bullied and that they had no friends because of all the stuff their parents posted to the channel. It was heartbreaking to hear him say they have no friends.
I’d never want random audience members to know what my kids looked like, where we live, where they go to school, their habits, their schedule essentially… you’re inviting weirdos into your world. And kids are so gullible, easily led away. It’s like people don’t have enough knowledge about the real world or don’t care to put their kids into a potential dangerous situation bc the dopamine hit from the likes they receive is too addicting. Ugh.
@@HeatherHolt Basically the same mentality in parents that still take their kids to be part of the Hollyweird club, even though there are countless tales of sleezy producers ruining young actors/actresses by the truckload, they don't care, as long as they can become part of the 1% they will gladly sell their kids souls.
I suspect that some bullying would also be out of jealousy because so many kids want to be UA-camrs and have a following and here are these kids who have that. So you end up getting bullied by the kids who think it’s cringe and you end up getting bullied by the kids who are jealous of your fake internet fame. You’re getting it from all sides!
I hate family channels so much, ill never forget that clip of the mom who forgot yo turn off the camers basically manipulating her son into giving a reaction for the internet and forcing him to do things she could use for content.
Idk the worst for me was Daddy of 5 or whatever. I think he went to jail but he's the worst of the worst. Edit: Nope. Just saw that he's free in the vid. Crazy. Part of my wonders how it would be if he was a mother and not a father, seeing how even the NIH states abuse (especially physical) is much more normalized from a male parent and doesnt bring out as much outrage in people. And I know the mother was also abusive but she wasn't the main perpetrator, doesn't make it ok, but part of me wonders what would've happened if the sexes were switched. We have a lot to work on, and bias can lead to more injustice for children.
Thanks for showing off DaddyoFive’s ban evasion channel. I watched a deep dive into it a bit ago, and the father has essentially groomed his oldest into running defense for them to this day. The only reason the youngest two got away was that their mother took the videos to court, and hopefully the rest of the kids can get away as soon as they’re able to recognize how abusive their home life is.
The 'I'm Glad My Mom Died' book is an example of this horrific situation where the actress/author of the book was coerced by her own mom to still look like a child, pretty much denying puberty as her brand. The mom would control her diet, and pretty much bathe the actress at the age of 12. 😢 The title obviously sparked controversy at first but reading the book/watching the interviews opened the horizon for people. I must say, that title is really edgy.😢
Lots of children have been under horrendous ab7se, neglect or both. I don't think it's an edgy title tbh. When you know a abuser that is permanently attached to you in someway it's honestly comforting when they are gone becuase they can no longer manipulate or ab7se you ever again. Do i think they deserve to be gone? No, But it is much nicer to go to a family gathering without worry of ab7se.
I agree with the title is that’s what happened. Reminds me of A Child Called It, which reminded me of my childhood in so many ways. Mommie Dearest vibes without the fame and fortune. IYKYK, and I wish no one had to know that kind of life with a violent or emotionally abusive parent.
The Stauffer adoption thing was so gross because initially they wanted an “african” child. They settled with Huxley (from China) because it was easier and faster given his disability. The other crux of his “rehoming” aside from his disability was because the Stauffer’s had another Bio child after adopting him. He really was just a pet for them.
He sexually abused the other kids. They were mislead about the severity of his disabilities and there's nothing wrong with wanting to adopt an African child. There are countless African orphans who need homes, racist.
The lack of privacy is problematic and the extent some parents go to for monetizing their children's lives is indeed distressing. I also believe that there's an urgent need for new laws and stricter guidelines to protect these kids.
i'm generally not for making guidelines *stricter* in most cases (i don't believe companies should be responsible for "co-parenting" their users's children, for example) but THIS is one of those cases where i agree wholeheartedly. yt absolutely should not allow these types of channels due to the lasting damage they incur upon the children. this is different from "yt is gonna fuck over creators bc mom can't be assed to monitor her kid's ipad usage." this is "these channels actively damage the psyche of the young ppl involved in them against their wills"
I don't know how these people can live with themselves. I was lucky enough to grow up with parents who gave me the space to discover what I want to do, but these poor kids are forced down a path and given zero privacy. This should be criminal. We need privacy laws in place to protect children from their parents.
I'm not even a real parent (I have zero kids, but my girlfriend's got 7) and it made me angry and sad at the same time. If their cats or dogs die, I'm going to let them stay home from school to cry all day if they want to. When the guinea pig died, one of them wanted to ask all sorts of questions, and I just sat with her for like an hour. What kind of selfish arsehole tells them to pose for a thumbnail for UA-cam? That's so completely uncaring and unloving.
As a father, it blows my mind how many people post their kids on the internet. With their full name. Little kids with no ability to give consent or understand the implications of having your name, location and picture on the internet publicly (forever).
Honestly, I grew up in the "If you so much as tell someone the State you live in they can track you down and show up at your house" era of internet safety and it freaks me out even with the responsible parents where the kids show up like as voices or once or twice a year.
@@Estarile bruh same, it's like night and day anymore with these things. the attitude is "why bother, these companies have all my data already" and it's frightening 😭the fact they must think that about their kids too (if they think about it at all) is disturbing
That mom telling her kid to pretend to cry is part of the reason that people who are suffering aren't believed or taken serious and it reduces the likelihood of someone possibly getting the help they need. 😢 The love of money, truly IS THE root of all evil. 😢
Years back I went to the family youtube channel rabbit hole out of morbid curiosity, and the most disturbing thing I found was a separate channel that was only making "fan compilations" featuring compiled footage and edits of underaged teenage daughters of one youtube family. Getting attention like that should cause any responsible parents to stop and delete everything.
The bit about the child-actor's family spending what they made makes me really angry. If a child makes money, it should go into an account that they will be able to access once they reach adulthood, _but which their family will not have ANY access to._ Also, parents who spent their child's earnings should be considered guilty of fraud and forced to repay the child ten-fold. Whether they have the money or not. If the kid made a million bucks that got spent, the parents can spend the rest of their lives paying off a $10M debt.
I've heard of a story from someone whose an advocate for child safety online, their mother posted so many pictures of them as a child online for attention, and enjoyed the attention so much that she eventually gave illegal content to whoever wanted it in order to obtain that attention, essentially abusing her child for CS@ while having a public platform. Now it makes me horrified to think about what length these parents will go to in order to get money off of their kids... they're already showcasing their entire life to the public, it really isn't that far of a step to take...
Can't stand family channels, almost all these channels run by these parents are shameless clout chasing monsters. I'm also glad Mrs Franke is getting serious time. She deserves it and I hope those kids get a better life after this.
i felt that "ASTAGHFIRULLAH" deep in my bones lmao i always thought social media and videos like these were weird af. thanks for talking about a subject no one else has really ever touched on! subbed :)
There is a reason that hollywood has to provide child actors advocates outside of their parents when they get hired because most parents want their kids to be happy and well adjusted but we have all seen the ones that want to sacrifice their children to be famous or stunning and brave so the parents can feel like they are important and special regardless the cost to the child.
Some families see the amount of money a person can earn for being a actor, but content creator, etc. It's greed that consumes them and sacrifice their kids cause become selfish and negligent
I disliked one of your videos a while back, and left a stupid comment, and I don’t remember why I even did it or what it was about, but I regret it very much. In all honesty I feel like you approach every situation in every video you make in the best way possible being a decent human being, and I regret leaving even one bad comment as a subscriber at all. I’m glad you’re out here covering everything from a position that doesn’t even matter to you at all other than the views that you can get because you deserve that. I’m sorry for whatever comment I made so long ago. Don’t stop being you and making the videos that you make. You are a good person, and learning things that you’ve done or covered I really was stupid to have said things about stuff I didn’t know about before. More people like you should exist.
It's fucked up when even some of my old high school classmates who now have families of their own do these types of family vlogging channels too. People really wanna be the main character so badly that they wanna put their personal business out on the internet for everyone to see.
I've always disliked family channels, never understood the appeal of watching someone elses lives until I understood that the kind of people that watch this is mostly old people who are alone which is sad but still. Family channels are peak corporate dystopia for me
I remember when they tried to pass it off as fake. Even had one of the commentary channels fooled "these kids are great actors. They can cry on command."
Im very high functioning with sensory. Sensory is something that almost no one understands how to help. The smallest thing like pencils on a peice of paper in a classroom can sound like 30 individual students running their nails on the chalkboard to me. If someone drops a bunch of pins i can almost count how many hit the floor by the dinks. I can listen in to every conversation in a restaurant simultaneously. Different people have different senses that are the most sensitive to them. This can almost be painful in a way because of how overwhelming it is. most people assume its just behavioral instead and give punishments which isnt fair to the kid who cant really help acting out. Not everyone is fit to raise a kid that needs additional support growing up.
What's so scary about the 8 Passengers situation is that even though so many people reporting CPS about their child abuse displayed on their YT channel, they absolutely did nothing about it until their child actually had to make an escape. They were attending their church normally (great job for ignoring all the red flags mormons.) The state is not prosecuting their father at all for the weirdest reason even after he tried to press charge against his daughter for stealing just because she was safekeeping his belongings after he pathetically got kicked out of his own house by his wife 3 years ago. The fact that Jody has her job as a licensed counsellor after breaking patient's confidentiality with their church leadership (again, great job mormons) and giving the most destructive advises to families and couples because for some reason the church was recommending her as a marriage counsellor is so bizarre. It's like it didn't matter whether they had a YT channel or not. We just got to know it thanks to their YT. And it's scary to think that we have no idea how many families are imitating their family and parenting structure considering the fact that they seemed to have a quite influence over their communities from both YT and local or not. 😨
I just started the video but I immediately thought how this goes further back into TLC’s programming where they showcased families like the Duggars and imo were complicit in hiding the severe abuse that goes on in high control groups like theirs. 20+ years ago a friend of mine had a baby and was very adamant she was NOT posting baby photos online. She was hyper aware even back then of how that could backfire and honestly she’s who instilled that idea of being mindful of what you put out there. I DESPISE family channels. Especially when a large amount of them seem to be religion-driven by the most harmful examples (LDS, US Evangelicals). There’s a suspicious crossover there and I think it speaks to why these channels seem to get extra protection
The daddyofive channel was so dark. I once saw a clip were he bullied one of the kids by falsely accusing him on purpose. He mentally tortured that kid, I really cried seeing that clip. I don’t understand how he is still aloud on UA-cam.😢
I once watched a german documentary about UA-camrs, and there was one part about a girl that had become an internat star. I think she was about twelve years old. Her father was organizing everything, he drove her around to events where they would meet her fans, she would make the shows, etc. One time, she complained that she didn't want to go to a place and rather have time for herself. Her father explained to her that she was actually the bread winner of the family, as he had given up his own job in order to assist her. She grudgingly agreed. Talking about the consent given by the children.
@@alonsobazo4619it’s possible, but I’m not convinced. First, Adults say some pretty childish things in the comment section of any video. Then there is the possibility that there are adults acting as children when they make comments.

My niece watches those, especially Nastya. But the ones she watches focused more on the kid than the whole family. At least there aren't many crying (as far as i see) and my niece is smart enough to tell being a bratty kid who cries whenever she doesn't get the things she wants is wrong but it's still pretty bad. Worst part is you can't tell her not to watch it since it's all over UA-cam kids and there aren't many options for her to watch other than UA-cam kids or tv.
Absolutely! I couldn’t agree with you more! A great deal of people following those channels are predators! It’s so irresponsible and neglectful! Then there is the invasion of your child’s privacy, embarrassing them and using them for money! It’s truly disgusting!
What creeps me out is how some know but those follow numbers are too good to pass up. "Oh here's little Emily in her swimsuit." "Here's Emily in pig tails." "Emily eating phallic foods." Grown ass people who only follow family channels with young children, and downloading it too. I'm just happy so many have aged out and their family can stop exploiting them even though viewers were screaming from the hilltops what was going on.

I can’t stand family channels due to how they treat their children. They don’t blur their faces, and, in this messed up world, they’re literally putting their children’s lives at risk for possible kidnapping, or trafficking.
My mom casually told me once she almost did the whole family channel thing but when she first found out about UA-cam it was from a friend who said she could get paid for making videos about anything she wanted and putting them on this site and get paid for it (this was back about 6 months after they started the beginnings of what is now the partner program) and she did not do it because she thought it was a scam and my abusive conservative father would have put a stop to it because it would have shown his abuse on camera and show how bad his trad-wifes life actually was.
@@Elijah_Randall yeah. My old man was an abusive piece of shit and the camera would have shown it so that's half the reason why she didn't do it. The other half was thinking UA-cam was a scam at time due to how new it was.
I'm 24 and was inconsolable when my dog died. I cried harder than I ever have in my entire life and my girlfriend just rubbed my back, told me she loved me and it's going to be okay while I cried. I can't imagine being a kid and experiencing that and your mother doesn't even pretend to care
i totally agree. Videos with uncensored children should not be eligible for monetization or In-Video Ads. I think its okay to see Children walk by in , whatever, an outdoor Stream, but they should not be identifiable. Also, Videos from inside high sensitivity buildings - Hospitals, Schools, Elderly Care Homes, Kindergarden etc. - shouldnt be allowed either.
I completely agree with the separation of church and state analogy. I watched a youtube kid's video where there was a toddler playing in a studio with voicover and it felt weirdly exploitative. Granted it wasn't a family channel, just get the same creepy vibes from it, like that 2 year old isn't a child actor and cannot consent.
I would NOT be surprised if Cody were still living in that house and started Highschool, those “parents” would’ve put a gun in his bag and yell at him about trying to do a shooting.
the 8 passengers situation is even more insane when you think of the fact that woman was so okay with showing so much of that all online for the public to see… that woman saw no issue with that. she genuinely thinks that’s okay and should be posted.
I hope the kids that grow up with this kind of parental abuse file a lawsuit against their parents as soon as they are of age to do so. I'm glad my parents knew how to be a good parent and didn't put me through anything like this.
100% agree. Sinister and encourages bad behaviour towards children. But hey, that’s UA-cam, corporations love predatory behaviour towards children. They give more attention.
I have no doubt in my mind that the children in these “family channels” will develop the infamous “child actor syndrome” just like the Hollywood child actors in the past. It’s just depressing.
Also with the Mica Stauffer situation … it was primarily because they were later informed they weren’t allowed or supposed to be putting him on UA-cam per like the adoption guidelines. Once she learned that .. oh it was up from there ! She got rid of that child so quickly 😔
As someone with two daughters I 100 agree that children should not be used by there parents for profit. Children don't fully understand things Specially long term, its why 18 is treated by the law the way it is.
I totally I agree. I think we need to go a step farther and make monetization and sponsership of any content with children illegal for companies to do.
Love to Mutahar for this important video. One thing I would like to add: These families, will be already turned upside down and coerced into change (when dragged to court), I feel they would never repeat the mistake again (zero jailtime required).
THANK YOU, I been saying this out loud for years, look, I suffer from loneliness like everyone else, maybe more than some, but I cannot imagine the level of loneliness and lack of life fulfillment it would take to be an avid viewer of one of these channels, I can't stand seeing these vlogs pop up on trending, and it's like 30% of it
the levels are just ways to classify what a person requires for support needs. level one is needing some support help [for something like communication struggles] and it goes to level three. level three is substantial support requirements [like needing major assistance due to being nonverbal]. the level classification system isnt the best but it is the system there is.
I ger very aware at times when I stay up past my bedtime binging UA-cam. It's something that I'm working on, but even with that flaw that I have, I could never imagine filming any family members crying for UA-cam views. Reminds me of the early to mid 2000s reality shows where they fake a bunch of drama for tv views, only this time it's normal everyday people filming their unfortunate true colors...
Speaking as a mom, It seriously creeps me out, I can’t understand why people do this to their children. Parents always taking choices away from their kids just for clout. The child crying broke my heart, so fucked up.
There's a reason why child actors have (and probably should have more) special protections. Family channels are basically child actor content farms, but without the protections and with added risks. Children deserve a safe place, and constantly recording them makes that impossible.
This level of content brain is nuts! I feel terrible for the future of those kids. Their version of reality will be so skewed if they don’t get away from that environment.
13:02 Wanna hear something fucking incredible, Muta? The Martins are STILL, to this day, victim blaming their son Cody for getting pushed into the shelf, saying it doesn’t count as physical abuse because he “ran at him”. It’s incredible
5:04 My mom is exactly like her. Being treated like this by your own parents is humiliating beyond words, it makes you question your own sanity. And when you get older, you realize what monsters your parents are...

Actually real life is somehow worse then fiction. At least with the Truman Show Truman was not horribly abused.
@@villager736he was emotionally scarred as they purposefully gave him a fear of water so that he'd never try to escape.
“In case I don't see ya good afternoon, good evening and goodnight.”
Exactly what I was thinking
What about Homeschooling
@@SonLuffa What about it? Homeschooling itself isn't a problem, it's when you have people who are homeschooled and have limited social interactions that problems start crawling out.
I’m telling you, one day a big news outlet is gonna cover all of UA-cam’s controversies and we’ll get a new kind of adpocalypse with Google rebranding the platform.
That's what they want
Aren't they doing that already by steadily pushing out the creators with ridiculous changes to rules and revenue, trying to combat ad blockers and push the premium subscription that has features that used to be free here, while pushing rentals and free views of mediocre movies?
It'll happen soon. The world is becoming more digitized.
It's already happening, has been for the past couple years. Just a steady role, but I wouldn't doubt something like that to occur.
I'm surprised ruby Franke being convicted didn't start it
Bullying at schools must be uniquely awful these days because of social media and content creation like this.
Ugh.
@@HeatherHolt Worse than that, they are most likely very aware of all that and just don't care.

I completely agree, it should've been banned after the daddyofive stuff.
And Daddyofive has another channel where in the description they deny the abuse happened: The Martin Family. YT doesn't care.
Why isn’t DaddyOFive locked up ffs
The 'I'm Glad My Mom Died' book is an example of this horrific situation where the actress/author of the book was coerced by her own mom to still look like a child, pretty much denying puberty as her brand. The mom would control her diet, and pretty much bathe the actress at the age of 12. 😢
The title obviously sparked controversy at first but reading the book/watching the interviews opened the horizon for people. I must say, that title is really edgy.😢
The title isn't edgy, it's accurate. I'll be glad when mine does too. Some parents are truly that awful.
Lots of children have been under horrendous ab7se, neglect or both. I don't think it's an edgy title tbh. When you know a abuser that is permanently attached to you in someway it's honestly comforting when they are gone becuase they can no longer manipulate or ab7se you ever again.

The bit about the child-actor's family spending what they made makes me really angry. If a child makes money, it should go into an account that they will be able to access once they reach adulthood, _but which their family will not have ANY access to._
Also, parents who spent their child's earnings should be considered guilty of fraud and forced to repay the child ten-fold.

Daddyofive still has a channel where they deny the abuse in the description, which is insane. Their channel is The Martin Family. YT doesn't care.
Any UA-cam channel that describes themselves as a "Family Channel" is an instant red flag.
Family channels and youtube kids need to be looked at
Looked at? I think you mean; Investigated.
Who knew that family channels wasn't actually so "Family Friendly!"

There's a reason why child actors have (and probably should have more) special protections. Family channels are basically child actor content farms, but without the protections and with added risks. Children deserve a safe place, and constantly recording them makes that impossible.

These parents should be in front of a jury begging for the custody of their kids. What a disgrace.
5:11 LMAOOOOO
أستغفرلله my brother... أستغفرلله.
I feel the same about the creepy "kids videos" that have like a zillion views, I swear most of them are some kind of scam, bait, or grooming.
