    Race Tech's gold valve kits increase the oil flow area over stock pistons and putt valving control on the shim stack instead of the piston resulting in improved suspension tuneability, control, and increased bottoming resistance. After installing the Race Tech Type 3 Gold Valve Combo Kit up front and the Race Tech G3-LD Shock Gold Valve Kit on the rear of his 2021 Honda CRF450R, Chase gives his ride review and compares the gold valve suspension to the stock setup to give a better idea of what properly set up suspension can do for your motorcycle.

    I have a 2015 WR250f stock suspension I've ridden a fair amount on gnarly single track in BC. Nice bike.. I've enjoyed it. Then I JUST bought a 2018 KTM 300 XC with Race Tech valving... OMG what a huge difference! I may have to install on the WR one day!!

    These guys at Racetech transformed my Tiger 800XC to one of the best bikes I have ever owned. If you want to have confidence to ride fast and hard I would recommend Racetech to anyone looking for that awesome ride. It's a night and day difference.

    I have race tech suspension on my 19 kx450 and I love it. I am a big guy and ride hard so suspension is always the first thing I do. It isn’t just a night a day difference it’s greater then that having the confidence of knowing the suspension will do it’s job so you can focus on doing your job. I also used it on my 09 yz450f and it worked flawlessly

      @@emondrag Yes. After several bikes modified, I have learned that Race Tech's damping calculator tends to recommend on the stiff side. So now I always select "prefers soft" when I am entering my rider data.

    I just did my first full suspension rebuild on my project bike, a 99 DR 350 which is known for having a really squishy suspension that dives at the touch of the front brake and bottoms on almost everything. After re springing for my weight and using the custom valving for the terrain I ride and my skill level, the bike felt like new. Revalving actually makes the bike feel lighter and more responsive and is a total blast to ride. I never thought it would ever hold a candle to my 2016 Beta, but this 20 year old dual sport is freaking amazing now. It'll actually even go through the whooped out trails at Cherry Creek without lumbering, bottoming out or sending you over the bars..
    I never considered spending the money on suspension before but now knowing what a difference it makes I'm going to do the Beta.
    RaceTech is legit!!

    I dont have gold valves, but I have the springs and had SGB deep clean my forks and all... and let me tell you as someone thats 120lbs, I never felt my stock SSS yz450 (07') forks work in corners until the first ride after those springs. Now, I have to try these gold valves... and if I dig it, I'll throw a setup on my R1

      You shock spring is probably light for you too. I weigh as much as my YZ250 2-stroke, and you weigh half the weight of your 4-stroke. Both of us will benefit from at least the proper springs. I lowered my bike suspension by .75" and took 1" off the seat. Bikes are stupid tall today. Lots of slow amateurs I see with go-pros in the corners today, especially if there is no berm.

    I did not approve of the diy GV kit. Did nothing for fork stiction, which is a HUGE factor, at least for my '03 kyb kit.
    I brought my stuff in for a full service, and that did the trick, except the tech overtightened the set screw on the lower casting, which caused an oil leak. Spent a whole day fixing it myself.

  • @dennismillus4581

    Chase out of curiosity what was your cost doing it yourself? At the time you did this video.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  2 роки тому +3

      The cost for the kit for forks and shocks is about 540$. Unless you have to go to heavier springs, the only other cost would be the needed tools. If you were to buy this kit and then pay for labor, it would probably be more than double this price. - Chase

      I have a 2019 Husqvarna Fx450 with the AER and race tech gold valve setup, completely transformed the bike and made the initial part of the stroke very plush and made it almost feel like a spring fork. Highly recommend gold valves for the AER forks. Not sure on the installation, I had my local Race Tech center do them.

    I don't know about the gold valve, I don't think I will go for that in my YZ SSS forks. I am working on my shock, (lowering it too), and messed up a couple of parts that the YZ dealership can't get,---like o-rings, a bumper and a shock body, (just a little scratch where the o-ring sits). The gal on the phone found me a shock body in 10 min. There are a lot of bad people out there today to do business with, (or I would not be fixing their mistakes on my suspension myself). Race Tech is not one of them. I would dare say they are probably one of the best people to do business with in the industry,---and probably the world too.

    Can you go back to the web site and use your code if you for example was running sx in the winter and mx in the summer to get the recommended shim stack spec or is it a one of code and make a mistake on your judgement of abilitie on your 1st go means paying for a second stab at it?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  3 роки тому

      I'm not totally sure. That would be a good question for Racetech. I would explain that you'll be racing MX and SX and see if all that would change is your valving stack and nothing else. - Chase

I’m not too familiar with forks, especially air forks, as I grew up racing atv motocross and just got into dirt bikes after taking 10 years off. Hi, Tommy. Have you checked your shock spring sag yet? If your shock spring is too soft, then your for spring is most likely too soft as well. If you've never checked sag, we have a how-to video that will show you step by step.

    • @tommydonley451

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  3 роки тому +1

      @@tommydonley451 You'll know if the shock spring is too soft based on your static sag. After you've set the rider sag, you then check your static sag. That is just how much sag the bike has on the ground with no one on it. Generally, static sag is between 30-45mm. With your weight, you'll probably have so much tension on the spring to get our rider sag right that you'll have very little static sag. Check that and get back to us. - Chase
