Your lessons, Patreon, UA-cam content, variety of songs, ability to teach to different levels, enthusiasm, etc, etc, deserve all the praise possible. Thank you for your hard work and efforts sharing your knowledge and skills.
I would consider myself as an advanced player but I like the way you teach. Being able to play along with the song first and then add the rift as a the right approach
Geez Louise how many years till I can strum like that 😆. Looks so natural and sounds so clean. I see people shredding and all that, but your strum hand is what I'm truly envious of
Great song choice Shane, brings back more than a few great memories from high school. For just 3 chords it’s another song that’s teaching me a few new skills, love the shuffle, looks like I have a new song to learn for the weekend. Thanks again, hope all is well. Wally.
Great job explaining this classic Steve Miller song! My electronics shop teacher in 1978 used to play "Fly Like an Eagle " and this album while we were doing projects.... with 70's Hifi stereo equipment, it was awesome. Thank you sir
Awsome stuff as always. For a simple chord prgression, ther's actually alot going on here. Shane and coffee...great start to my Saturday...thanjs pal...
I just came across your videos. You are a great guitar teacher. And I mean great. I’ve been through several of your videos, and I am playing the songs in less than an hour. Keep up the great work. I’m headed to your patreon site.
Another great lesson Shane. I love the format of your lessons, with the play along at the end. Definitely going to give this one a try. Thanks for introducing me to the Beat Buddy as well. I have one and I love it.
Another great lesson Shane. I've found that if I tab out my own sheets while watching the lesson a few times helps me to learn the songs better for memory. When I quit living in a travel trailer I'm going to get a Beat Buddy for sure. Take care of yourself and your family and stay warm this winter up in Canada. From Charlie in Georgia.
Thank you Steve - I appreciate you. All is well here thank you - hope same for you. I am beginning to hunker down for the long winter ahead. Ugh. Shane
Oh man I actually started laughing because I love jamming to this old tune so much..I am all alone but It don't feel like It..Thanks so much for these lessons Shawn..Im getting goooood..LoL
I have improved greatly since I started with your tutorials, But I also wanted to point out that in the song. Steve, plays a chorus-verse-then the riff. Then he starts vocals..
“Great to have that kind of detail but don’t do it at the expense of the song”. That’s great advice that i often/usually don’t follow. I seem to get bogged down on learning the riffs or trying some lead but often don’t complete the song. Should I/one play along to the song and gradually add the riffs or lead? Another great lesson by the way.
Thank you - I’m in full agreement. Play along with the recording as well as yours able and try to add the detail as you go. Don’t wait until you’ve nailed all the detail to play through the song - my best to you, Shane
Thank you, grew up on Steve Miller. I'll be tackling this puppy. PS. Check out 'Ghengis Blues', to see Paul Pena in a documentary from Tuva and his throat singing capabilities. Savage stuff. Enjoy, and thanks again. Greetings from Ireland.
Hey man thanks. I forgot about that song. Now I'm fartin around with that shuffle.couple days ago I figured out Tuesdays gone. I love fing new songs to play.
Paul's primary source of income later in his later years was the royalties he got from Miller's version of this song. It helped him to care for his wife who was gravely ill. And I highly recommend people search for Paul's original version. IT ROCKS.
P.S. I just bought a used Taylor 214 at a local guitar store. Took it straight away to a luthier I've known since '77 to adjust the action and put a Fishman thin line pickup with a pre-amp in it with a tone and volume control.
I have wondered why people have capoed at the third fret, instead the 2nd fret? B/C apparently Steve Miller tuned down a half step...,I wonder...,anybody know for sure?
Shane, rather than talking about what you're going to talk about, just start talking about it from the beginning. If it takes more than 20 seconds to get to the point of the video, you are losing viewers. Most people just skip the long intros anyway and jump ahead to avoid the "talking about what you're going to talk about" sections. Be "ABC," Accurate, Brief, and Clear.
Wrong Johnny. But thanks for your input. I have access to the analytics in youtube for all of my videos - including view duration and you could not be more wrong. Best, Shane
gained a new sub tonight.. good job man I'll check some of your other vid... I'm a bass player but I'm always looking toward getting my acoustic repertoire a bit more diverse... cheers
The thing I hate about these is that they always show you how to play the chords. It is supposed to be how to play the song. Not how to play chords. Players should already know their chords
Your lessons, Patreon, UA-cam content, variety of songs, ability to teach to different levels, enthusiasm, etc, etc, deserve all the praise possible. Thank you for your hard work and efforts sharing your knowledge and skills.

A little Clapton “crossroads” riff!

Steve Miller's parents were good friends with Les Paul. He took lessons from Les Paul. Amazing.
Did not know that - so cool. Thanks Matt. Shane
If I remember correctly Les Paul was his godfather ,

I have improved greatly since I started with your tutorials, But I also wanted to point out that in the song. Steve, plays a chorus-verse-then the riff. Then he starts vocals..
Really excellent man. Took me 4 years to get the skills to master this starting from absolute zero, below zero actually haha. Catching up.

Thank you Ken - much appreciated. It’s a Taylor 814CE (2019). Cheers, Shane
Can the beat buddy be played through the computer? I do not have pickups on my acoustic guitar ... so no amp.
Hi David, You would need some sort of interface to get the BB into the computer. Cheers, Shane
Good stuff! Subbed
Thanks Jason. Happy to have you here with us. Cheers! Shane
Thank you Martin - hope you have fun with it. I’ll look at the Paul Pena stuff you mentioned. Cheers! Shane
Crazy how all his hits came out within a year or two of each other 1976
that guitar really projects
Thank you - Taylor 814CE. Cheers, Shane
Thx man 😎
Glad you enjoyed! Shane
probably been asked, but what Taylor model is that? Thanks.
Thanks Geoff - it’s a 2019 814CE
Hey man thanks. I forgot about that song. Now I'm fartin around with that shuffle.couple days ago I figured out Tuesdays gone. I love fing new songs to play.
Excellent. Hope you’re having fun with it. Cheers! Shane

Thanks for that Mike - amazing story for sure. I really liked the original version too. Cheers, Shane
How about Justin Townes Earle's "Flint City Shake It".
I could have sworn I learnt this from you several months ago.
I want that shirt! Where d’ya get it?
Ha! Thanks Eddie - Levi’s. Cheers, Shane
I play the drums to this song but in saying that I enjoy this 👏🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Very glad - thanks Rob, Shane
What guitar is that.
Good sound
Thank you - It’s a Taylor 814ce (2019). I really love it. Cheers, Shane
Thanks.
I like the way you teach. Did Steve Miller use a capo? Just curious. Thanks.
P.S. I just bought a used Taylor 214 at a local guitar store. Took it straight away to a luthier I've known since '77 to adjust the action and put a Fishman thin line pickup with a pre-amp in it with a tone and volume control.
I have the same coffee ☕
I have wondered why people have capoed at the third fret, instead the 2nd fret? B/C apparently Steve Miller tuned down a half step...,I wonder...,anybody know for sure?
Thanks Robert - agreed - you see it out there so many ways. Cheers, Shane
The capo is why you're guitar was buzzing get a billy strings capo the way the bluegrass capos go on they truly tighten down all the strings
Steve played this live with a Les Paul that Les finally gave him after years of ( making Steve earn it)
... As I get on the 787 !
you should seek out the original version written and performed by Paul Pena. IMO the original is far superior than this version.
Please teach The Letter
Great song. Thank you! Shane
👏🤟
Cheers lad! Shane
Rock and roll...A D G moved to C F B
You know who invented Beatbuddy?
It’s made by a company called Singular Sound. Cheers,
Your thumbnail is really loooooong.
Big Old D Bag
Could talk a little slower !
Too much coffee 😂

Too basic for me.
Talks too much.
gained a new sub tonight.. good job man I'll check some of your other vid... I'm a bass player but I'm always looking toward getting my acoustic repertoire a bit more diverse... cheers

The thing I hate about these is that they always show you how to play the chords. It is supposed to be how to play the song. Not how to play chords. Players should already know their chords
The chords are there and so is the shuffle rhythm for those that want to do it.
I don’t know why I chuckled like a juvenile when you said “there is more than one way to finger an A”.
Awesome.
Thank you! Shane
