Princess looks more like a little apartment, IMO. More interesting shape. But, honestly, it’s all about the bed. Contest over. A good night’s sleep is EVERYTHING!!!!!
yeah, the bed is a big selling point!
i agree it looks like a nice apartment ... lovely
BTW, I'm always fascinated by the locations you choose to host and narrate your videos! I know you're on a gigantic cruise ship with thousands of other people, but you manage to make it look like you're in a luxurious, tranquil space and have the whole ship to yourself!
I get up very early! 🤣
Its always easy to find quiet alone areas
I loved my inside cabin on Sky Princess. I had huge drawer space, and because the lamps were on the side tables, I had the staff remove one table and lamp and shove the bed over to the wall to give me more room. USBs in the lamps. I do wish there'd been doors on the closet, but it wasn't insurmountable. I liked the bathroom. Shower curtain wasn't a biggie. I liked the safety bars for rocky days at sea. The bed was so good, I actually fantasized sneaking it home!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
That's a good idea about the removing one of the tables. And yeah, the beds are soooo good.
Usually when traveling SOLO, the "more room" is achieved by splitting the 2 single beds, and "shoving" them both to their respective walls.
Great reviews you always do a great job being fair and honest. What a great idea a whole year cruising around on different ships. No driving, no worry about parking, not having to look for someplace to eat. Just enjoy yourself and have fun.
Exactly!!!!
I’ve been on the Meraviglia twice. And I was in an interior cabin. They do have USB ports by the beds, but I didn’t find them until halfway through the first cruise. They are on the UNDERSIDE of the metal bedside light fixtures.
Good to know! Thanks!
Hm, yes, how to combine the MSC bathroom and the Princess bedroom? Good review, I agree on your points. I guess I'd go with the nicer room and deal with the bathroom. For as little as you're in a cruise cabin, you're in the bathroom even less. Have a great day!
Yeah, I agree. If forced to choose I would go with Princess' inside cabin.
👍🤩💝Fantastic. I agree with everything you said. I love how you mix up your filming locations (not always filming only in the room) and that you manage to find places on the ship that don’t have a lot of people around while you’re filming. Safe travels. 💝
I get up really early!! :)
@@30AndAWakeUp - Ooooh of course. That explains it. 🤦🏻♀️😂
I agree the toilet roll is in awkward location on Princess, I found you just took it off the holder and left in on the shelf till needed.........no problem
That's a good tip
Hearing you talk about the MSC chair choice in an inside cabin really did make me laugh - I couldn't believe that actually was a chair when I was onboard for the first time - I'd be uncomfortable after the first 90 seconds of sitting on that, haha. That said, I tend to only be in the cabin for sleeping/getting ready etc, and spend most time 'relaxing' in the main public areas, so not a major issue for me! Great video!
Agree..the chair wasn't that big a deal, I just edited somewhere with a good view and chair :)
As a woman, I usually end up doing my hair & makeup in the desk area and the MSC “chair” would not be to my liking
@@peggytravels793 after more than 100 cruises, I don't think I have EVER sat in any "ship's chair"
Like the Princess cabin, but I like the MSC bathroom better! I hate shower curtains.
same
I appreciate this comparison video and hope to remember it when I have decided to go round the world cruising too.
No problem, Deborah.
Look at the space btw the bed & the wall & Princess, in my opinion, wins hands down. I recently was in a inside stateroom on NCL & when I saw how small the space was next to the bed I couldn’t believe it. Having a chair is a big plus. I can deal with the shower curtain but changing the shower would be a big improvement. After 35+ cruises on Princess I hope that I’m not bias. Great comparison & video.
Thanks, Tom. I'm trying to not be to bias towards Princess but I do love the Princess experience.
Wow those are claustrophobic cabins. Never! If I had to cruise like that, I wouldn't go. Glad you showed it.
Thanks for watching.
Lol there are larger cabins on cruises with windows or a balcony :)
Princess hands down!
I love Princess!
Tip for Princess bathroom discovered by my granddaughter. Move the toilet paper to the top of the toilet brush handle and you will be set. Enjoy your trip. Love your channel and content. 100k here you come. Last tip. AARP 10% off cruise line gift cards. Easy way to take another 10% of your daily trip cost.
That is an awesome tip on the TP! Tell your granddaughter thanks. Looking forward to taking advantage of that AARP discount in the future!
@@30AndAWakeUp 50 or older 🙂
You qualify for AARP when you turn 50!
2 years to go, right….
@Life's A Beach the toilet paper in that bath room (and in several staterooms I've stayed in) was at a strange distance; too far away. Not to get too graphic, but I prefer to stay fully seated when reaching for the TP.
Have to have a comfy bed. That's a must! All the other stuff I could give or take for a short time.
Agreed!!!
I like the Sky Princess cabin better. Peaceful color pallet, and you said comfy bed. Must have. Nice desk, good tv placement. Why don't people like the shower curtain? Looks fine to me. I did like the MSC bathroom much better though. Excellent. Thanks Kevin!
I think they feel they arent as clean as a shower door
@@30AndAWakeUp Gotcha. You are right. A glass door and a squeegee is better!
Hi Kevin yea that curtain shower reminds me so much of vanlife. Not a fan of cabins with those. Personally I'd rather be on the cruise ship with the glass shower door. Thanks for sharing
Yeah, I did like that much better!
Late for you to post...lol...great info for comparison! Have a good rest of your night Kev!
yeah, figured I'd drop it tonight
i LOVE those OLD Royal ships ...u r right no fridge is a down side...
Yeah, I am really liking it as well.
two twin beds stuck together is understandable, but falling between is absolutely no comfort. i love the princess cabins best.
yeah, that's how all the cruise lines do it...so there can be multiple sleeping areas
Great videos, so informative and glad I found you!
Thanks for watching, Kathleen.
Great video, as always, Kevin! So informative and entertaining--I always look forward to viewing your latest. Enjoy and keep up your great work!
Really appreciate your comment, Gary!
Talking about bathrooms.... on 3:30m AND 10:45m of the MSC you can see that the "room" for the left knee while sitting on the toilet, you simply don't have room for it, so that the cruiser has to sit skewed towards the 1 o'clock. I would say 96% (or more) of people would not fit looking towards the front (as supposed to be). On the Princess bathroom, the cruiser can be the tallest man alive, and there is plenty of long-leg room to sit on toilet looking towards 12 o'clock. (This is a FAR more important point to a bathroom, so Princess "wins" ... "hands down". You didn't point it out (you probably don't know about this) but the 5" diameter bathroom dehumidifier is usually ALWAYS on the ceiling of the shower (for obvious reasons), The MSC didn't know the use of this dehumidifier so they didn't put it in the shower ceiling, they put it over the toilet ceiling, which most likely be sucking up toilet water (if the toilet cover is not closed). If/when cruiser washes things (or the wet bathing suit) I always put it as close to the dehumidifier as possible and close the shower curtain or enclosure..... AND the MSC Seascape put a silver square slimy "pull" in the glass enclosure, the problem being, if one's hands are wet (and god forbid soapy) you can't open the glass door.
good info
I’m 6’2” 250 pounds. Had no issues in the Meraviglia bathrooms. One thing he didn’t point out is that the glass shower enclosure by the toilet can be pushed inward (into the shower space) to create more room for the toilet area.
Both are nice but having no natural light would drive me crazy.
I get that for sure
Great video brother! Reminds me of Norwegian Joy cruise ship. Great berthing 👍👍👍
I'll be trying a Norwegian ship soon...looking forward to it. Thanks for watching.
I’d actually prefer the shower curtain so I wouldn’t feel so confined. Disney’s bathroom is similar to Princess and Carnival’s was more like MSC.
I know it doesn’t sound like it but the concave shower door made it so roomy
Great review and comparison of the inside cabins. I agree with your summation. Thanks for the brevity of this video. I've been on your lives during work breaks though had to break away early to get back to work. It seems you are not in your room very much so the small size works.
Yeah, small definitely works for me.
Thank you for the comparison
Thanks for watching!
If the bed does not shine everything else is secondary. I am so happy for you as I have been along with you virtually when you were traveling the globe in a small Osprey backpack. You deserve the current luxury life on the seas. 🛳🙏
I appreciate you hanging around for so long Chris.
100k coming soon I hope, brother! Keep creating and living your best life.
Thanks Jake!
As you mentioned, the inside cabin is used just to take a bath and go to sleep. I imagine the remaining 16 hours are just crowds. What are the sections of the boat that are not crowded, just certain specific hours?
So it varies from ship to ship cause they are all set up so different. But early mornings you can usually have the ship to yourself. But there are always spots that arent crowded.
I would want the glass shower as well.
I loved it
Looks pretty fantastic. Wouldn't mind either of them, but I've never been too excited about cruising. After watching you for a while, maybe I'll get excited. Still most excited about motorcycle travel with overnight hotel stays.
Yeah, definitely a difference between motorcycle and cruise travel! :)
Great breakdown of both cabins. I guess if I want to travel with more masks, I need to head to Princess for more storage space!
Safe travels!
Haha yes they pride themselves with the amount of mask storage they have
@@30AndAWakeUp 😆
On the 3:30m you can see that the MSC toilet it's positioned that 96% of the cruisers wont "fit" "straight", they will have to sit at 1 o'clock for their left knee to "fit". I'm a 74yo woman, and shorter from "behind" to front of knee and this was a problem. I can't even fathom 98% of men.
good point
I’d like to go on a cruise some day
You should :)
Pretty much a minimalist. Kevin, you are a minimalist. Lol. The setup for the bed with the problem of coming apart reminds me of how the van beds are typically set up if it sits in the back longwise.
yeah, cruise life definitely has a lot similarities with van life
Thank you for showing us the rooms. If you’re looking for ideas, I’d love to see gyms and walking tracks. That’s what I will be looking at whenever I book my first cruise. Thanks again!
Thanks for the idea!
I’m checking out cruises now for the fall. You are selling me on Princess!
I hate to sell anyone...cruise line preference is so subjective.
I went on the Enchanted Princess and then did a side by side on Celebrity Beyond. Both ships are about the same age. You should do a comparison because they compete against each other. Guess which one I liked better. Princess balcony to Beyond ocean view.
That's a good idea. I'll actually be on Enchanted Princess later this year. I need to get on Celebrity Beyond!
I wish you would do a video on MSC food.
I will in the future
We actually prefer a shower curtain over a glass door, my hubby would inevitably hit his elbows.
I thought the same but it’s concave on MSC and it really feels big
I was wondering when your Navy shower training was going to kick in! A 5-6 hour shower - seriously? lol
haha...never! Don't have to take Navy showers on a cruise ship, thank god!
@@30AndAWakeUp haha... how long is a Navy shower? 🏃🚿
@@mckenna8663 Turn the water on get wet...turn the water off, soap up...turn the water on, rinse off. Shower over
I think Princess gave the statement more storage space and took it from the bathroom! I guess it would depend on what you need😊
Fair point for sure
@@30AndAWakeUp lol not statement; state room! Hahaha 🙄
Do you ever go with a two bed setup with beds against the walls and more space in the middle with two side tables?
Sometimes I do, feels like spa experience❤😊
I might try that at some point.
I normally spend less than 20 minutes/day in the bathroom, so I wouldn't mind sacrificing quality there (within reason) if the rest of the cabin is better.
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.
Thanks for this. The MSC cabin may be bigger, but it looks very claustrophobia-inducing to me. I never feel that way with Princess inside cabins, especially the "sideways" ones which are abundant on the newer Royal class ships.
Yeah, I agree.
You can even see where the connection is. Two mattresses joined is always annoying.
yeah, I didn't even notice it on princess but definitely on other lines
UA-camrs keep asking for more Usb plugs in the room. I don’t know about others but none of my devices use usb and use usb-c. I say just give us more plugs so we can use the chargers we use.
That is a fair point for sure. I have a USB plug for my iphone...so either would work for me.
Really enjoying the series Kevin. One question. Do you ever get lonely being alone on the ship albeit there are many others on board. Thank you. Jonathan 🇬🇧
Not really. Tons of people to get to know.
Princess has a better cabin , however MSC has a much better bathroom
agree
Where on a cruise ship is the best place to have an inside cabin (assuming you get some choppy seas) ??? make a video, ive subbed and ill watch ` LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!
Middle of the ship, as low as possible. the closer to the center of the ship and the lower you area, the less it moves.
Think I'd have a hard time with no window.... and to sound even more spoiled. I'd need the comfy bed.
Understand for sure
Hi I really enjoy your videos! After the cruises what is next?
Not sure yet...I still have lots of time left on ships.
@@30AndAWakeUp do you miss having someone to share it with?
@@stephaniemitchell7684 It's not something I dwell on...if I find someone to travel with great...if not...I'll enjoy it myself :)
@@30AndAWakeUp thanks for your honest remarks.. live is a journey!
I’m on The Enchantment starting this Saturday.
I have an inside cabin. Did you say that there is no refrigerator?
I need one for my insulin.
There is not a refrigerator in my cabin. I am not sure if that is in every cabin. I'd make sure to go to guest services right when you get onboard.
How do these cabins compare to the Goat locker on an aircraft carrier?
haha...much better on the cruise ships :)
Hi, great video. Are you comparing apples to apples here? I know cruise ships have 'deluxe' inside and standard inside, etc. What category were these for the two lines? BTW I like Princess better too.
The cheapest you can get on both
@@30AndAWakeUp that’s good info thanks
Great video but I hate inside cabins! Done it once, it was like sleeping inside a wardrobe.. no natural light is So strange.
Understand for sure.
You may have touched on this in previous videos but do you ever feel like an ocean view might be worth the extra money? I'm the most frugal guy you'd ever meet, but I just couldn't do an interior room. No matter how much money it saved me. Perhaps it reminds me too much of my days on a carrier where you never know what time it is, but you're in the same boat I guess (no pun intended), so I'm curious?
I only really sleep in the cabin...so I dont get claustrophobic .
Dude, where are all the people? Biggest turn off for us is all the people. Is it off season, post COVID…? If I knew a cruise would be that sparsely occupied I think the boss might go for it.
Im on a smaller, older ship at the moment and I get up really early to film.
If I had to spend 5 hours on the desk chair or 5 minutes in the bathroom, I would choose the desk chair.
haha...fair point!
I hope you weren't on that Princess cruise with the norovirus.
Nope
Do you own stock in Princess? 😂😂😂
I always cruise in a balcony cabin, problem solved!!!!
Haha fair point! ☺️👍
How many countries have you been to
I lost count a while back...probably like 70 or so
What Oceania countries have you been to
I don’t like that Princess still has shower curtains even on their newest ships, but I love their cabins otherwise, especially the closets and those comfy beds.
Yeah, kind of an odd choice to continue with those shower curtains but you can’t beat those comfy beds.
